Juárez Celman Department is a department of Córdoba Province in Argentina.
The provincial subdivision has a population of about 55,348 inhabitants in an area of 8,902 km², and its capital city is La Carlota, which is located around 502 km from Capital Federal.
Political Formation
Until 1888, Juárez Celman was part of an old and vast department called Río Cuarto. On July 23rd of that year, a law that divided Río Cuarto's territory into three departments was approved. One of these three sections was Juárez Celman.
Together with the creation of Juárez Celman as a department, the city of La Carlota was designated as the capital city of this department. Currently, Juárez Celman has 8.902 km², which is the 5.38% of the whole province of Córdoba.
