Indian mountaineer

Kaamya Karthikeyan is an Indian mountaineer from Mumbai, Maharashtra, who became the youngest female to complete the Seven Summits challenge in 2024. At sixteen years of age, she also became the youngest Indian mountaineer to summit Mount Everest from the Nepal side. In 2021, she was awarded the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar a civilian award for Indian citizens under the age of 18.

Early life

Kaamya is from Mumbai in India. Her father S. Karthikeyan is a Commander in the Indian Navy and her mother Lavanya Karthikeyan is a homemaker. She studies at the city's Navy Children School.

Mountaineering

Kaamya summited Mount Denali in 2022, becoming youngest in the world to do so at the time. In 2018, she climbed Mount Elbrus, becoming the youngest to complete a ski-descent from the peak. She scaled Mount Kilimanjaro in 2017, Mount Kosciuszko in 2018, Aconcagua in 2020, and Mount Everest and Vinson Massif in 2024. She was accompanied by her father on her summits.
