Kyle Zimmer (First Book)

Kyle Zimmer is a co-founder of First Book, a nonprofit organization that provides books to children in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Colombia.

Zimmer studied law at the George Washington University National Law Center. In 1992, she co-founded First Book with two colleagues and has served as its full-time president since 1993.

She is a member of the International Board of Directors of Ashoka: Innovators for the Public as well as Youth Venture, an initiative of Ashoka.

In November 2006, Zimmer was named Outstanding Social Entrepreneur of the Year in the United States by the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship. In 2014, she received the Literarian Award for Outstanding Service to the American Literary Community from the National Book Foundation for her lifetime achievements.
