Lagangilang, officially the Municipality of Lagangilang (Ilocano: Ili ti Lagangilang; Tagalog: Bayan ng Lagangilang), is a municipality in the province of Abra, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 14,914 people.

Geography

Lagangilang is located at 17°37′N 120°44′E / 17.61°N 120.73°E / 17.61; 120.73. It is 19 kilometres (12 mi) from Bangued and 427 kilometres (265 mi) from Manila.

According to the Philippine Statistics Authority, the municipality has a land area of 101.44 square kilometres (39.17 sq mi)  constituting 2.44% of the 4,165.25-square-kilometre- (1,608.21 sq mi) total area of Abra.

Government

Local government

Lagangilang, belonging to the lone congressional district of the province of Abra, is governed by a mayor designated as its local chief executive and by a municipal council as its legislative body in accordance with the Local Government Code. The mayor, vice mayor, and the councilors are elected directly by the people through an election which is being held every three years.
