The Latif Kapadia Memorial Welfare Trust is a nonprofit foundation based in Karachi, Pakistan. It was established in 2007 in memory of the late actor and philanthropist Latif Kapadia.
History
The foundation was founded in 2007 by the family of Latif Kapadia to commemorate his contributions to the entertainment industry and social welfare. The organization's mission is to make essential healthcare accessible for low-income communities by offering medical consultations, diagnostic services, and affordable medications.
The current chairman of LKMWT is Ahmed Kapadia, also a trustee of the foundation and son of Latif Kapadia. Sabir Sami, CEO of KFC, is also a trustee and the vice chairman of the nonprofit organization.
The organization collaborates with various groups for support, including a partnership with Aaj Ka Random and New Louvre Art Gallery for fundraising in November 2018, and integration of Paymob's digital payment gateway to facilitate donations.
Healthcare services and initiatives
LKMWT operates Medi-Health Clinics in underprivileged areas across Karachi, providing primary care, diagnostics, and medication at a minimal cost. These clinics collectively serve a large number of patients each year.
In partnership with The Hunar Foundation (THF), LKMWT also organizes community health programs to raise awareness about health risks associated with the use of tobacco-related products like gutka and chalia.
Awards
In 2024, LKMWT received the Black Dragon Award for Best Small Budget Campaign at the Dragons of Pakistan Awards.
