Lina Hamid is a member of the Nova Scotia New Democratic Party elected to represent the riding of Fairview-Clayton Park.
She is the first Sudanese Canadian to be elected to the Nova Scotia House of Assembly. She was the Senior Manager at the United Way.
Lina was born and raised in Qatar with her 3 younger sisters. She graduated from College of the North Atlantic - Qatar with a certificate in Business Management in Marketing. In 2011, Lina moved to Halifax where she graduated from Saint Mary's University with a Bachelors of Commerce.
Lina worked in various roles in sales, marketing and customer service. In 2020, she started working at the Halifax Refugee Clinic as a Housing Support Worker. In 2023, she became the Social Sector and Investment Manager at United Way Halifax. In July 2024, Lina became the Senior Manager for Halifax under the newly formed United Way Maritimes.
Lina served as the Co-Chair for ACORN International's mainland chapter from 2021 - 2022.
