  1. ^ Mississippi State forfeited their 1976 win over Kentucky, giving Kentucky an official 5–1 conference record and a share of the SEC title with Georgia.
  2. ^ The Wildcats finished conference play undefeated but due to NCAA probation were not eligible for a share of the SEC championship, postseason play, and the coaches poll.
