The Los Angeles Angels are a Major League Baseball (MLB) team based in Anaheim, California . They have competed in the American League (AL) since 1961, and in the AL West division since it was formed in 1969. Having undergone a number of name changes, the team has previously been known as the California Angels, Anaheim Angels and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
