- As of the 2024–25 academic year, East Texas A&M is in the third year of a four-year transition to Division I and will become an active Division I member in 2026–27.
- ^ Houston Christian and Incarnate Word's men's soccer teams compete in the Ohio Valley Conference.
- Texas Tech uses "Lady Raiders" for women's sports teams that have men's counterparts, most notably women's basketball. "Red Raiders" is used in sports that are sponsored only for one sex, whether men or women.
- UTRGV added a football team, originally setting 2024 for the start of play but then delaying it to 2025. It will play in the Southland Conference.
