Weston Kirton
Weston Kirton who previously held the role from 1995 to 2001, and was later elected again in 2022. Kirton's return was a significant political comeback after over two decades, with a focus on community and economic challenges such as managing tourism and local development, before his re-election.
Sue Morris
Elected in 2001, Sue Morris rebranded Ruapehu to be more tourist friendly and maintain the public. The more challenging aspect of her term was to maintain the public facilities with the dwindling economy.

Don Cameron was mayor from 2013 to 2022.
