Characters

Toru Muhyo (六氷 透, Muhyo Tōru), nicknamed Muhyo (ムヒョ)
Voiced by: Ayumu Murase (Japanese); Todd Haberkorn (English)
Muhyo is said to be the youngest magical law enforcer graduated from the Magical Law School. He paired up with Roji, and the two formed their own business of exorcising spirits. Muhyo has a somewhat emotionless personality, showing no sign of pity when dispensing of the ghosts. He seems to be sleeping most of the time, since large amount of spiritual energy is needed for him to perform exorcism and carry out sentences for spirits. He tries to show no signs of caring for his assistant Roji, but it immediately becomes evident that he does during dangerous situations, or when one of Muhyo's friends or acquaintances points it out. He is often rude to other people, and keeps a stern face, but deep down, he has a strong sense of Justice. He is also extremely powerful, being able to perform a judgment that normally requires four top-notch enforcers by himself. Despite Enchu's vile attacks upon him and those he cares for, he still wished to redeem him. Muhyo has shown that he can speak the language of the underworld allowing him to speak with the creatures that he summons to carry out his sentences. This talent also allows him to command the creatures to pause or stop the punishment that they were delivering.
Jiro Kusano (草野 次郎, Kusano Jirō), nicknamed Roji (ロージー, Rōjī)
Voiced by: Yū Hayashi (Japanese); Khoi Dao (English)
Roji is Muhyo's assistant. He is a kind-hearted person, almost to a fault, as it interferes with his ability to exorcise spirits with a sob story. He is a bit of a whiner and a crybaby. However, he is adept at writing seals to hold back spirits while Muhyo sentences them. He is knowledgeable on types of spirits, but has almost no knowledge on the exorcism of spirits and how to use magical law. He initially feels that Muhyo is rude, mean, and hates him. But as the series progresses, he finds out that Muhyo chose him to be his apprentice even though the normal standard is to choose someone who is the rank of an assistant judge and Muhyo actually deeply cares for him. His power often seemingly fluctuates between strong and weak, becoming stronger when he has more confidence in himself. He was frustrated that Muhyo did not ever instruct him. In a flashback showcasing how Roji met Muhyo, it was revealed that Roji wanted to learn magical law after a friend was possessed and Page showed up and saved him. Roji also successfully used an item only an assistant judge could handle. During the magical law promotion exam, it is revealed that he has an extraordinarily high tempering (ren). Roji is definitely more feminine, which causes comedic scenes to emerge sometimes.
Kenji Satō (佐藤 健二, Satō Kenji), nicknamed Kenji (ケンジ)
Voiced by: Kōhei Amasaki (Japanese); Dawn M. Bennett (English)
Kenji is a troublemaking boy who had believed Muhyo and Roji's business was a sham and wrecked their business sign. He did not believe in spirits until the pair saved him from a blood-drinking ghost he had accidentally freed. Afterwards, Kenji grew a liking for the pair, often referring to Roji as "Bean Sprout" and Muhyo as "Onion". He always tries to find excuses to hang around their office, as Muhyo has made it a rule never to meet a client after the case is complete unless they bring a new one.
Nana Takenouchi (竹乃内 菜々, Takenouchi Nana), nicknamed Nana (ナナ)
Voiced by: Iori Nomizu (Japanese); Morgan Lauré (English)
Nana is a photographer who Kenji introduces to the duo. Her late father had made a living producing fake ghost pictures, causing a rift between the two. Nana becomes another of Muhyo and Roji's regular clients after Muhyo sends her father's troubled spirit to the River Styx for purification so he can go to heaven. She is notably well endowed which often causes her to be the target of perverts. It is later revealed that she is a spirit medium.
Yoichi Himukai (火向 洋一, Himukai Yōichi), nicknamed Yoichi (ヨイチ)
Voiced by: Tetsuya Kakihara (Japanese); Ted Sroka (English)
Yoichi is a magical law judge and Muhyo's childhood friend. He is a pervert who enjoys trying to guess girls' cup sizes, in which he squeezed Nana's breasts during his first appearance. Although Yoichi appears to have a crush on Nana, she unfortunately considers him as a creep. However, underneath this exterior resides experience and wisdom, almost rivaling that of Muhyo. Yoichi had offered to be Muhyo's partner, but Muhyo had already chosen Roji instead. He is an expert at every type of magical law except for exorcism.
Soratsugu Madoka (円 宙継, Madoka Soratsugu), nicknamed Enchu (エンチュー, Enchū)
Voiced by: Hiroshi Kamiya (Japanese); Mark Whitten (English)
Enchu was a childhood friend of Muhyo and Yoichi. Unlike Muhyo, he was studious and serious about magical law. Enchu had wanted to be an enforcer so he could support his family, including his sick mother. Enchu spent hours everyday studying, with his friends not noticing. One day, Muhyo's talent "woke up", which overtook Enchu and created a desire within him to surpass Muhyo. When Muhyo and Enchu were both up for being promoted to enforcer, Enchu had left because he had learned his mother had died. When he had returned, Muhyo had been promoted to enforcer, causing Enchu to break down mentally. He has shown to have some control over various spirits through his knowledge of forbidden magical law. He has also apparently become inhuman as at one point when he generated ten forearms on a single arm. Despite his grudge, Enchu still cares for others, claiming its better to practice forbidden magical law with friends and retreating in order to save Rio who was ghosting. Eventually, Enchu was "saved" from his madness, realizing that his friends never stopped caring about him despite what he put them through. However, this realization did not keep him from punishment, and he was sentenced to the Arcanum afterwards for an indefinite amount of time.
Yū Abiko (我孫子 優, Abiko Yū), nicknamed Biko (ビコ)
Voiced by: Rie Kawamura (Japanese); Bonnie Gordon (English)
Biko is a magical tools master (or artificer), who is able to make magical tools but cannot use them herself. She is deeply devoted to her teacher Rio, and was shocked by the revelation that she was a traitor. Biko disliked Rio when she was younger until Rio saved Biko from an experiment gone wrong. Roji first believed she was a boy when she first appeared. She has three apprentices of her own. She hoped that Rio could be saved, and wished to go raspberry picking with her. After the battle had ended, Biko and Rio lived together since Rio had been sentenced to imprisonment within their home.
Rio Kurotori (黒鳥 理緒, Kurotori Rio)
Voiced by: Satomi Akesaka (Japanese); Cherami Leigh (English)
Rio is Biko's teacher and a skilled magical tools master (or artificer). While she initially seemed to help Muhyo and Roji, she was actually working with Enchu, having grown bitter after no one helped save her mother from an evil spirit. Despite having become a traitor, she was still fond of Biko, but believed that it was too late to go back. When her mother was alive, Rio had to resort to low means in order to make money so that she could take care of her mother. When a spirit attacked her mother, she frantically sought help but was turned down by the enforcers in her neighborhood. It was revealed that Teeki had intentionally caused the attack on her mother in an attempt to gain Rio as a pawn. When she discovered this, she tried to deny it, then denied that she was able to be saved at all, but soon came to terms with her situation and did her best to turn things around. She lives with Biko, sentenced to imprisonment within their home. According to Muhyo, she is a "kissing fiend", which is an accurate statement.
Sophie the Face Ripper (ソフィー, Sofī))
Voiced by: Yūko Gotō (Japanese); Kira Buckland (English)
Sophie was an extremely powerful spirit who was once imprisoned in the Arcanum, but was released by Rio. In life, she was kept away from parties by her older sister due to her being considered "plain", and killed people for their faces because she wanted people to think she was pretty. As a spirit, she was able to shapeshift and assume other people's forms. Muhyo used a high-level magical commandment to sentence her for her crimes. As she faded, she cried and stated, "Sister, why can't I go to the party?". She was a very powerful ghost as it took the usage of an envoy that normally requires four enforcers to defeat her.
Reiko Imai (今井 玲子, Imai Reiko)
Voiced by: Mitsuki Saiga (Japanese); Lisa Ortiz (English)
Imai is a magical law judge. She was assigned to be a guard for the Arcanum, a prison for powerful spirit including Sophie. When Rio freed Sophie, Imai nearly became a victim but was spared because her face looked ugly to Sophie. She was also nearly strangled by Teeki, but luckily escaped. Since the Arcanum incident, she has become friends with Roji and escorted him to the Magical Law School. In chapter 155, it is revealed that Imai possibly has feelings for Roji.
Teeki the Fallen (ティキ, Tiki)
Voiced by: Tetsuharu Ōta (Japanese); Bill Rogers (English)
Teeki was Enchu's right-hand man and a powerful but mysterious foe to Muhyo and Roji. The Magical Law Association had marked him for 800 years or so. He "meddled" in magical law, and he disappeared into thin air when he was finished. It was unclear whether Teeki was a spirit or a practitioner turned immortal by forbidden magical law. Teeki was also the one responsible for the fire inside the Arcanum after Rio followed Muhyo and company out into the forest. He seemed to like to kill and destroy, as he laughed at Maeda when he set the Arcanum ablaze and wanted to kill Muhyo's group instead of retreating. He was the one who introduced Enchu to forbidden magical law. Teeki wore a four-eyed mask and gloves that had the mark of forbidden magical law on them.
Page Klaus (ペイジ・クラウス, Peiji Kurausu)
Voiced by: Wataru Hatano (Japanese); Keith Silverstein (English)
Page is the teacher of Muhyo and Enchu. He is very famous within the association, and he believes that magical law starts with physical fitness. Page likes to compose poetry and thinks he is good at it. He also acts as a father to his students, such as rushing to Muhyo when he was supposed to be healing and showing relief that Muhyo was okay. Although Roji is unaware of it, Page was the practitioner that exorcised a spirit from a friend of his and gave him his tie. He claims that Muhyo and Roji were destined to meet.
Daranimaru Goryo (五嶺 陀羅尼丸, Goryō Daranimaru), nicknamed Goryo (ゴリョー, Goryō)
Voiced by: Yūsuke Kobayashi (Japanese); Johnny Yong Bosch (English)
Goryo is a magical law enforcer like Muhyo, and head of the centuries-old Goryo Group Syndicate. While the Goryo Group Syndicate is not particularly strong in magical law, they make up for it with cunning use of strategy. In addition, they perform extremely vicious practices ranging from bribery to murder. Goryo was a jerk who only cared about money and his family's pride, threatening to release spirits that he had exorcised if clients do not pay him, treating his assistants like trash and discarding them should they fail him. But after the Goryo Group Syndicate is destroyed by Ark and he is rescued from Tomas, he becomes a better person.
Hanao Ebisu (恵比寿 花夫), nicknamed Ebisu (エビス)
Voiced by: Shinya Takahashi (Japanese); Ed Bosco (English)
Ebisu is a magical law judge who worked for Goryo as an assistant. He looks like a clown and is afraid of Goryo's wrath. He clawed his way to where he is now, being jealous of Roji, who was only a clerk and was practically given his current job with Muhyo no less. He helps Goryo in banishing spirits and running his company. After Goryo and Muhyo's competition, he was fired by Goryo for failing him in a strategy. Despite that, he is the first to run to Goryo's aid when the Goryo Group Syndicate is attacked.
Tomas (トーマス)
Voiced by: Ikuya Sawaki (Japanese); Christopher Corey Smith (English)
Tomas is an evil practitioner working for Ark. He was once a teacher and Page's friend, but it was revealed that he faked his credentials and was wanted for several crimes. He had an obsession for collecting anything from teacups to souls because he paired up with Beelzebub.
Chiyo Sakurai (桜井 千代, Sakurai Chiyo), nicknamed Panza (パンジャ, Panja)
Panza was a spirit assassin working for the group of forbidden magical law users known as Ark, working directly under Teeki. She was a powerful spirit with an overwhelming obsession with Roji. She used her powers of human puppetry to try and kill off Muhyo and kidnap Roji. It was revealed that she always got bullied because she could see spirits and she wished her knight in shining armor would come and save her. Even her parents forced her out of their house by making her take the magical law promotion exam in order to become Muhyo's assistant and telling her not to come home. She lost her applicant form on the way and no one wanted to help her except for Roji, who gave her one of his applicant forms. That was when Panza fell in love with Roji. Unfortunately, she met Teeki and was misled by him into using forbidden magical law. On her way to heaven, Roji told her that he wished he had known her feelings so they could have been friends, but she said she preferred him as her knight. Her passing was the spark of determination within the group to end Enchu and Teeki's terror.
Michael Cortlaw (マイケル・コルトロウ, Maikeru Korutorou), nicknamed Mick (ミック, Miku)
Mick is a swordsman known as Mick the Slasher, who worked for Ark. However, he had a tendency to do what he wanted, and followed orders in his own straightforward style. Unlike many other Ark members, he was very simple-minded and had no long-term goals other than to move on to the next fight. Seemingly relaxed and casual, he could become rather eccentric in battle, using his whole body as a morphing sword. His parents were evil practitioners who were killed by the Magical Law Association after they attacked representatives bearing a treaty.
Ivy Cortlaw (アイビー・コルトロウ, Aibi Korutorou)
A master of spirits who worked for Ark. She bore a grudge towards the Magical Law Association for the death of her parents and tried to destroy the Magical Law Association, but was stopped by Goryo and murdered by Buhpu, a fellow member of Ark.

A high schoolgirl named Rie Inoue meets with magical law enforcer Toru Muhyo and assistant Jiro "Roji" Kusano, the members of the magical law agency called the Muhyo Bureau of Supernatural Investigation. After Muhyo demonstrates magical law with the sentence via death by exorcism for the crime of unsolicited animal spirit parasitism, Rie explains the rumor about the fifth track at Hashiki Station being haunted by a ghost girl named Taeko Okazaki. In the past, Rie was Taeko's close friend at school, but Rio took interest in volleyball and eventually lost in touch with Taeko. As Taeko confronted Rie at the fifth track for ignoring her, Rie accidentally pushed Taeko off the platform, where she was consequently killed by an oncoming train. In the present, Rie goes to the fifth track at night, while Muhyo and Roji wait outside. With thick ectoplasm surrounding the fifth track, Rie is traumatized by the ghost of Taeko appearing in monstrous form. Muhyo prepares to sentence the ghost of Taeko to Hades's Banquet with the crime of unsolicited object spectralization. Although Rie tries to save Taeko from being sent to the underworld as punishment, Rie is forced to let go, and Muhyo decides to send Taeko to the River Styx for purification. Two days later, Rie sends a letter of thanks to Muhyo and Roji, who are not allowed to see a client after their mission is completed.

Despite the warnings made by Muhyo and Roji, Kenji plans to test his courage by going to an old shrine outside town. Kenji and his two friends Fumie and Yoshio approach the old shrine at night. However, Kenji releases a bloodthirsty evil spirit after ripping the seal off the door. When Muhyo and Roji arrive, Muhyo invokes a silver aura that surrounds the desired target and protect it from spirits called Silver Armor in order to rescue Kenji. Muhyo then sentences the evil spirit to Imprisonment in Hell's Cell for the crime of mass vampirism. As a token of appreciation, Kenji gives Muhyo and Roji a baseball. Kenji later introduces Muhyo and Roji to his friend Nana Takenouchi, a photographer whose pictures feature a troubled spirit. Nana abruptly leaves when Muhyo believes that Nana may be a medium. Kenji reveals that Nana's father was a photographer and encouraged Nana to follow in his footsteps, but he died from a heart attack after she was disappointed in the fake ghost pictures that he made for a living. The troubled spirit of Nana's father appears in Nana's bedroom. Muhyo, Roji and Kenji soon realize that Nana's pictures actually feature the spirit of Nana's father. Muhyo then sentences the spirit of Nana's father to Crossing the Styx for the crime of unsolicited posterior appearance.

In the LawTube video, Roji explains that the four types of spirits are wandering, animal, vengeful and bound, but Muhyo is interrupted from enjoying his book when Roji smokes a fish to simulate ectoplasm.

It is explained that living human beings emit spirit energy caused by intense emotions including hatred. For ten days, Muhyo and Roji disguise themselves inside vases at Aya's house. At three o'clock in the morning, the shadowy spirit attacks Muhyo and Roji, causing Aya to play the piano in order to counter the attack. Muhyo then sentences the shadowy spirit to Beelzebub's Treasure Chest for the crime of unsolicited mass emission of spirit energy. Later on, Roji receives a magic-sealing pen and an invitation to take a promotion exam at the headquarters of the Magical Law Association, despite Muhyo believing that Roji is not ready yet. Nana suddenly appears with a picture featuring a bridge ghost. Muhyo refuses to help, but Roji decides to accompany her to the bridge. The bridge ghost eventually captures Nana, but Muhyo arrives in time and tells Roji to attack by using talismans when written with the magic-sealing pen. Muhyo then sentences the bridge ghost to The Devil's Hammer for the crime of attempted murder. Although Roji feels that he is not ready to take the promotion exam, Muhyo opens up a magic circle as a portal to the headquarters of the Magical Law Association, secretly witnessed by Nana.

In the LawTube video, Kenji explains that Muhyo sleeps for three days after using magical law against a vengeful spirit, but Muhyo throws a book at Roji's head for waking him up.

August 24, 2018 (2018-08-24)

Muhyo and Roji are surprised when Nana passes through the magical circle to the headquarters, but Nana is startled upon meeting perverted magical law judge Yoichi Himukai. Muhyo and Yoichi stop by a restaurant in order to discuss the murder of two magical law enforcers named Elena Lily and Sosei Okouchi. Yoichi tells Muhyo that their former classmate turned traitor Soratsugu "Enchu" Madoka is presumed to be hiding somewhere in the Shin'etsu region. As Roji and Nana visit the magical law library, they unknowingly cross paths with Enchu. During the promotion exam, Nana screams when she sees several mouths on Yoichi's body. When Nana touches Yoichi's face, Muhyo quietly informs Roji that Yoichi is contagious with an infection by an evil spirit. Roji eventually panics after Nana touches Roji's hand, causing all those infected to panic as well. Muhyo uses a spirit striker in order to stop the infection and defeat the evil spirit which originated from Enchu, but the spirit striker becomes devoured by the evil spirit. With the promotion exam postponed, Yoichi takes Roji to the restaurant. Roji blames himself for panicking, but Yoichi explains that he and Muhyo used to be inseparable friends with Enchu when they all were classmates.

In the LawTube video, Nana explains that the headquarters of the Magical Law Association is located in the mountains of Azumino, but Yoichi ends up filming several close-up shots of girls in the area.
5"Insanity"
Transliteration: "Kyōki" (Japanese: 狂気)
August 31, 2018 (2018-08-31)

After finding a torn-out picture of Muhyo in the magical law library, Nana gives it to Muhyo in a room inside a tower. In the past, when they were classmates, Enchu was studious, Yoichi was carefree and Muhyo was talented. Unable to see his mother in critical condition, Enchu went insane when Muhyo became promoted as a magical law enforcer. In the present, Enchu spreads vengeful spirits from the rooftop all over the headquarters. Enchu briefly appears before Muhyo and Nana with the intention of destroying Muhyo. At the restaurant, Roji and Yoichi cover their ears when the vengeful spirits wail. After Yoichi performs a magic-binding magic spell to eradicate the vengeful spirits inside the restaurant, Yoichi reminds Roji that he was personally chosen as Muhyo's assistant. The room collapses when Muhyo summons the Silver Armor to protect himself and Nana from the vengeful spirits. Roji arrives and performs a magic-binding spell to eradicate the vengeful spirits inside the room and around the tower. As several wandering spirits created by Enchu suddenly appear, Muhyo eventually sentences the wandering spirits in the tower and the remaining vengeful spirits in the headquarters to the Hell Train for the crimes of attempted mass murder and unsolicited object parasitism. Feeling that Enchu will continue to target him, Muhyo requests Roji to stay close by him for his safety. Yoichi later teases Roji with a provisional first-class secretary license as a reward.

In the LawTube video, Roji prepares to give a lesson, but he is interrupted by an advertisement for a centuries-old rival magical law agency called the Goryo Group Syndicate.
6"The Butterfly of the Night"
Transliteration: "Yoru no Chō" (Japanese: 夜の蝶)
September 7, 2018 (2018-09-07)

Muhyo, Roji and Nana meet a romance novel author named Abeyuki Yontani in an inn at Nanagase Hot Springs. Yontani believes that he may have been possessed by a ghost when writing a bestselling romance novel series for six months in the inn. At night, Roji uses a talisman outside Yontani's room in order to expose a bound spirit named Zansetsu Hirata, who was an author from the Meiji era stricken with tuberculosis but found relief in the hot springs. Hirata was inspired to start writing the romance novel after he fell in love with a girl named Yuri, who was also diagnosed with tuberculosis before she died. When Hirata later died, his spirit took the form of countless authors including Yontani in order to continue writing the romance novel. Muhyo later prepares to perform exorcism in the bathhouse, causing Hirata to reveal his monstrous form and take Nana as a hostage. Yontani returns to his room, shocked that Nana has almost finished the romance novel for Hirata, who did not treat Nana as a prisoner. Although Yontani sees himself as a fraud, Hirata trusts Yontani to complete the story on his own. Muhyo then sentences Hirata to the Owl of No Return for the crimes of prolonged unsolicited residence and unsolicited facial transcription. The next day, Nana watches an interview with Yontani, who reveals that the theme of the romance novel is "the joy of being alive".

In the LawTube video, Nana receives an incoming call and mentions that she met Yontani at the inn, but she jokes about her desire to meet hot guys at a bowling alley while looking through pictures of Muhyo, Roji and Yontani doing recreational activities at the inn.
7"Magic Prison"
Transliteration: "Ma-Kangoku" (Japanese: 魔監獄)
September 14, 2018 (2018-09-14)

Muhyo and Roji are surprised when magical tools master Yū "Biko" Abiko shows up unannounced through the magic circle in their office. Since a magical tools master cannot enforce magical law, Biko requests for Muhyo and Roji to accompany her at a magic prison. Although her talismans are being used there to seal spirits, an evil spirit broke free and ran loose. A few hours later, they dock at an island in the Pacific Ocean and meet Biko's teacher Rio Kurotori outside the magic prison. Three jailers named Iwamoto, Maeda and Furuya explain that magical law judge Reiko Imai and her assistant Fujiwara went to the bottom level of the magic prison three days ago, in which Fujiwara was killed by the evil spirit while Imai managed to seal the magic prison from the inside with a talisman before sacrificing her own life. Realizing that the talisman had a weak seal, Muhyo, Roji, Biko and Rio enter the magic prison and head towards the bottom level. Rio tells Roji that the evil spirit is named Sophie the Face Ripper, an evil spirit from a European village who was sealed in the magic prison twenty years ago after reigning terror for 500 years. When Muhyo, Roji, Biko and Rio find a prison cell without a talisman, they encounter Red-Eye, an evil spirit who collects human eyes. Roji subdues Red-Eye by using Biko's talisman to create a spirit barrier and Rio's talisman to perform a magic-binding spell. However, a congealed mass of abandoned dog spirits called the Rain Dog suddenly appears and infects Biko's left leg with a virus.

In the LawTube video, Roji introduces Biko as a magical tools master, but Biko's tool bag also contains a packed lunch, a week's worth of clean clothes and a picture of Rio.
8"Becoming Someone Else"
Transliteration: "Narikawari" (Japanese: なりかわり)
September 21, 2018 (2018-09-21)
After Muhyo summons the Silver Armor to protect everyone from the Rain Dog, Rio administers a potion for Biko in order to cure her. When Roji fails to perform a magic-binding spell against the Rain Dog, Muhyo sentences the Rain Dog to the Hands of 100 Demon Princes for the crimes of contamination and attempted murder. Muhyo, Roji, Biko and Rio soon reach the bottom level and come across the faceless corpse of Fujiwara. When Fujiwara turns into a winged spirit, Muhyo sentences Fujiwara to The Devil's Lance for the crime of unauthorized transformation. Meanwhile, Yoichi finds a tampered talisman mailed to Biko's office. Muhyo, Roji, Biko and Rio arrive at Sophie's prison cell, resembling a kid's bedroom. As they realize that Sophie is not there, they deduce that Sophie may have shapeshifted into anyone else in the magic prison including Iwamoto, Maeda and Furuya. Iwamoto and Furuya are revealed to be engaged to each other. Later on, Muhyo, Roji, Biko and Rio lodge overnight in the magic prison, and they discuss that one of them might be Sophie. In the hallway after using the restroom, Roji learns that Rio protected a stubborn Biko from getting injured in the classroom after she purposely mixed the wrong ingredients for a potion in the past when she was classmates with Muhyo, Yoichi and Enchu. The jailers find Imai in the shower room, leading them to believe that Imai is really Sophie. Elsewhere, Enchu is revealed to be the one who mailed the tampered talisman, as he amusingly tells his right-hand man Teeki the Fallen that Sophie will have fun killing everyone on the island.

Biko finds a faceless corpse covered in blood, while Rio searches for Iwamoto and Furuya. Roji and Maeda learn that Imai was dragged into the shower room by Sophie, but Sophie spared Imai because of her bob cut. Biko and Rio each figure out that Furuya is really Sophie, but they are unable to prevent Sophie from turning Iwamoto into a faceless corpse. As Biko and Rio find Roji, they are chased by Sophie. Roji and Imai attempt to wake up Muhyo, while Biko and Rio hide from Sophie in the locker room. Sophie eventually finds Biko and Rio, prompting Rio to push Biko safely aside just as Muhyo, Roji and Imai arrive. Although Roji is no match against Sophie, Imai uses a talisman to seal Sophie inside the locker room. As Muhyo chants incantations, Imai explains that Muhyo is preparing to perform exorcism that would normally take several magical law enforcers to do. When Sophie frees herself, both Roji and Imai are unable to stop her. Buying enough time for Muhyo, Roji performs a magic-binding spell using Biko's talisman. Muhyo sentences Sophie to Hell's Marshal for the crime of being someone else. Before she is sent away, Sophie attempts to use telekinesis in order to attack Biko with shattered glass, but Rio surprisingly performs a physical barrier spell in order to protect Biko. A flashback reveals that Sophie killed her sister because she was not invited to a party due to her ugly face. As the deaths of Fujiwara, Iwamoto and Furuya have not been in vain, Roji then questions Rio as to how she was able to perform the physical barrier spell.

Elsewhere, Enchu comments that Sophie was unable to defeat Muhyo. Rio prepares to attack Muhyo with a wand, as Imai eventually realizes that Rio bound a contract in order to use forbidden magical law, which uses Rio's soul as a source of magical energy that will eventually turn her into an evil spirit. Rio reveals that she removed the talisman from Sophie's prison cell in order to deplete Muhyo's ren, though underestimating Roji's potential strength and Imai's unexpected survival. Imai stays behind while Roji takes Muhyo and Biko outside, where Yoichi arrives and saves them from Rio's attack. As Muhyo, Roji, Yoichi and Biko escape to the forest, Yoichi reveals that there is evidence that Rio was working with Enchu. Before he came to the island, Yoichi went to Rio's incinerated office and found Rio's journal. Two years ago, Rio mentored Biko, but Rio was viewed as scum by both Sosei and Elena. Rio's sick mother was later devoured by an evil spirit, which led Rio to collaborate with Enchu. In the present, Rio finds Muhyo, Roji, Yoichi and Biko in the forest. Biko reminds Rio that they picked raspberries together one year ago. However, Biko learns that Rio already became a traitor at that time because she was unknowingly engulfed in anger for her mother's death, though things would have been different if Rio had met Biko earlier.

Rio attacks Muhyo, Roji, Yoichi and Biko by summoning a large flame salamander with her wand. After Yoichi creates a spirit barrier, he explains that Rio would be judged as a half-spirit and sent to Purgatory if her sins are minor. Muhyo asks Biko to make a secret potion that temporarily restores his ren, clarifying that Rio would be sent to Hell if she becomes an evil spirit. Yoichi struggles to ward off Rio's attacks from the flame salamander by creating a six-direction barrier circle, while Biko creates the potion called the Ren Source Spring that was first taught by Rio. Biko explains that the Ren Source Spring helped the enforcers when they were outnumbered by the spirits 700 years ago, but too much of this potion can be poisonous and deadly to the human body. Deciding to chug the entire potion, Muhyo tells Yoichi to release the six-direction barrier circle after Rio finishes her next attack. Muhyo attacks Rio with Anesthetic Needles, magical needles that hit and put a target to sleep, causing Rio to drop her staff and fall to the ground. The flame salamander suddenly disappears once Yoichi destroys Rio's staff. Telling Yoichi to create a messenger gate circle, Muhyo plans to render Rio's contract null and void. Yoichi then notices Enchu sitting next to Rio. Meanwhile, as they escape the burning magic prison, Maeda tells Imai that he saw someone laughing while opening the gate to the magic prison. Yoichi realizes that Enchu killed Sosei and Elena. Muhyo uses a blind spot created by Yoichi and Biko in order to attack Enchu with the Anesthetic Needles, though this has no effect on Enchu since he has given up his humanity. Teeki fuses all the evil spirits in the magic prison, sending them to Enchu.

As Muhyo and Roji are swallowed by the fused spirits, Muhyo sentences the fused spirits to the Demon-faced Cannonball for the crime of unsolicited spectral fusion. Roji creates a spirit barrier circle, which protects both Muhyo and Roji from the sentence. After they survive, Muhyo faintly coughs up blood. Biko realizes this as a side effect of the potion. Teeki is summoned by Enchu after managing to escape from the magic prison before Imai closes the gate on him. After preventing Teeki from killing Muhyo, Roji, Yoichi and Biko, Enchu leaves with Teeki in order to treat Rio, as Enchu threatens that Muhyo, Roji, Yoichi and Biko will be hunted down by other forbidden magical law users. Roji vows to rescue Rio from the darkness. At the Magical Law Hospital, Muhyo receives treatment with the use of ren bells, magical tools which restore ren by drawing out fatigue from the body. Paying a visit at the hospital, Muhyo's teacher Page Klaus warns Muhyo, Roji, Yoichi, Biko and Imai that the forbidden magical law users have collaborated by creating a detailed hit list. Based on the description that one of the forbidden magical law users wears a mask with four eyes, Muhyo, Roji, Yoichi, Biko and Imai realize that Page is referring to Teeki, who was marked as a traitor for 800 years by the Magical Law Association. Since the incident at the magic prison, the Magical Law Association has decided to take action against the forbidden magical law users. Later at night, a worried Roji sneaks into Muhyo's hospital room, determined to get stronger for Muhyo. A few days later, Muhyo and Roji prepare to leave the hospital after Muhyo is discharged. During a clandestine meeting with Soratsugu "Enchu" Madoka and Teeki the Fallen, Rio Kurotori falls unconscious and begins to spectralize due to acquiring the Forbidden Text that was actually fake. In a classroom, Nana Takenouchi runs late for her job and interrupts two schoolgirls named Yumi and Rika, who are trying to contact a spirit named Kokkuri. Yumi and Rika panic upon learning that Kokkuri wants to help them with death. At night in their office, Toru Muhyo is annoyed when Jiro "Roji" Kusano serves bean sprout ramen since there are no recent clients. Luckily, Nana arrives with leftover hamburgers from her job. Muhyo and Roji briefly tell Nana about the magic prison incident that happened one week ago. After Nana mentions that Yumi and Rika were trying to contact Kokkuri, Muhyo explains that Nana could have attracted Kokkuri since she is a medium. Kokkuri tries to kill Yumi in her apartment bathtub. Nana and Roji arrive at Yumi's apartment and shockingly finds Yumi in a decrepit state. Magical law enforcer Daranimaru Goryo and his assistant magical law judge Hanao Ebisu, the members of the magical law agency called the Goryo Bureau of Supernatural Investigation, sudden appear and perform exorcism, restoring Yumi back to normal. Goryo and Ebisu believe that Roji is a perpetual failure to Muhyo. When Yumi regains consciousness, she warns Nana that Rika is in danger. Kokkuri enters Rika's home bedroom and falls for traps set by Goryo and Ebisu. Goryo then sentences Kokkuri to the Cavern of Roaring Tigers for the crime of attempted assault. Outside Rika's home, Ebisu explains that the Sendai office is one of ninety-nine offices that Goryo manages, while Goryo mentions that a female client faced repercussions for refusing to pay for Goryo's services. When Muhyo arrives, Goryo proposes a challenge to see which magical law agency can complete a commission for the Akagawa Estates first. The winners will stay and take over the whole district while the losers will leave permanently.

As she undergoes a purification ceremony in a bathtub, Rio cries out in agony after Teeki sprinkles rock salt over her, though Enchu believes that Rio can endure it. Before Goryo and Ebisu drive off in a limo, they promise to void the entire arrangement if they lose the challenge. After Nana escorts Rika back inside her home, Muhyo explains that Goryo's family history involving Onmyōdō magical legal practice dates back a century, in which Goryo's previous generation started being avaricious and doing underhanded deeds in order to excel in their business. On the day of the showdown, Ebisu mentions that the job to demolish the Akagawa Estates was abandoned twenty years ago because the spirits kept interfering, and the offer to perform exorcism has been raised to 30 million yen. Muhyo protects Nana with a barrier called Silver Curtain that will allow her to become invisible to spirits. As the challenge commences, Goryo and Ebisu spiritually douse the area outside, while Muhyo and Roji encounter a foggy face spirit at a stairwell inside. Muhyo sentences the face spirit to Hell's Impalement, but a swarm of round doll spirits emerge from the face spirit. Roji creates a spirit barrier, causing the doll spirits to flee and scatter. In the past, a mother and her daughter named Ai were coaxed into living in the Akagawa Estates despite their impoverished lifestyle. After receiving two handmade dolls for her birthday from her mother, Ai soon died from being hit by an oncoming truck. Ai's mother made several round dolls after having a mental breakdown. In the present, Muhyo and Roji go to a rooftop in order to attract the doll spirits. Muhyo sentences the doll spirits to Hell's Picture Book for the crimes of obstruction of magical law and unsolicited object parasitism. However, a single doll spirit replicates into another swarm of doll spirits, revealing their mitotic trait. Goryo pushes Nana out of the Silver Curtain for him to use, causing Nana to run away from the swarm of doll spirits, though Nana momentarily hears a mysterious voice cry out before she passes out in an alleyway. Ebisu attempts to drain ren from Nana when he finds her, but he soon retreats after being attacked by three doll spirits. Muhyo and Roji timely arrive and save Nana from peril.

While Roji checks up on Nana, Muhyo aggravates Ebusi by speaking disparagingly of Goryo. Ebisu activates an incomplete spirit magnetic attraction circle in order to capture the surrounding doll spirits, prompting Goryo to safely leave the Silver Curtain. As Nana hears the mysterious voice crying out again, Roji realizes that the mysterious voice is actually the spirit of Ai's mother. Muhyo then suggests Nana to pacify the spirit of Ai's mother by contacting the spirit of Ai. Goryo then sentences the remaining doll spirits to Thunder Hell Boy for the crimes of long-term haunting and murder. However, the doll spirits free themselves from Ebisu's incomplete spirit magnetic attraction circle. Muhyo summons one of the sages of Hell named Yuuri, which overwhelms and overpowers Thunder Hell Boy. Roji creates a makeshift summoning board, and Nana successfully contacts the spirit of Ai, which brings the spirit of Ai's mother out of the doll spirits. After Ai and her mother reunite and reconcile, Yuuri takes both of them to the River Styx. Roji protests against Muhyo's claim that Goryo and Ebisu won the challenge, but Muhyo clarifies that he interfered in order to give Ai and her mother a chance at redemption, noting that Nana had nothing to do with the challenge despite her exceptional abilities. As Roji believes that he is not talented enough for Muhyo, this leads Muhyo to give Roji an indefinite break in order to reflect on why he was chosen as Muhyo's assistant. Goryo comments that it is a veiled way of saying that Roji is fired.

Goryo takes over Muhyo and Roji's office and fires Ebusi for failing him. After Muhyo gave Roji an indefinite break, Muhyo says he will work with Yoichi Himukai and Yū "Biko" Abiko in order save Rio. Roji boards a train with Reiko Imai headed to the Magic Law Academy. Two years ago, Roji applied to be Muhyo's assistant by taking an interview exam, but Roji mistook Muhyo for a kid before the interview exam began. At night, Roji and a magical law judge ended up coiled inside a bald snake vengeful spirit in Roji's hotel room. As the other applicants failed to exorcise the vengeful spirit, Roji concentrated his ren into the judge's staff in order to free both of them. Muhyo then sentenced the snake spirit to Hades's Grasping Hands for the crimes of unlawful entry to a residence and willful injury. Although the other applicants praised Roji, Muhyo berated the other applicants as pathetic hyenas. Muhyo approached the sullen Roji, who admitted that he wanted to save people. The next day, Roji was crestfallen by a posted sign stating that no one passed the interview exam. However, since Roji saved the judge, he was given a pair of green suspenders and was granted to be Muhyo's assistant with the rank of a second-class secretary. In the present, Roji and Imai arrive at the Magic Law Academy. When Roji still wonders why he was chosen as Muhyo's assistant, Imai urges Roji to figure it out himself. Meanwhile, Enchu is glad that Rio has fully recovered. Elsewhere, Muhyo meets with Yoichi and Biko in order to prepare for a certain project.

Yoichi shows Muhyo and Biko a recent picture taken of a fully recovered Rio standing next to slowly fading Enchu. In New York City, Enchu and Chiyo "Panza" Sakurai walk into a bookstore, where Teeki assault the owner and Enchu asks the clerk about the location of the genuine article. Roji lodges with Imai at her house, where Imai leaves behind a pamphlet detailing an upcoming magic law exam at the Magic Law Academy. A morose Roji then becomes inspired to take the exam, which is actually a ploy set up by Muhyo and Imai. The following day, Roji meets with Imai outside the Magic Law Academy amongst a crowd, but they are approached by twins Lili Mathias and Maril Mathias, who believe that Roji and Imai are in a romantic relationship. The four briefly spot Ebisu in the crowd, which confirms the news of him being recently fired. After Lili and Maril suddenly depart and leave behind a note for Roji, the academy gate opens and all examinees take a paper bag with them to the auditorium. Page Klaus explains the criteria for the exam, while his assistant instructs the examinees to change into the tracksuits provided in the paper bag. Page then tells the examinees that they will undergo a physical examination. Several examinees need to be retested after breaking some medical devices, and they are escorted by men in white and blue cloaks to an undisclosed food court full of pastries. With Roji, Ebisu, Lili and Maril among the ones escorted, Page reveals that he will be mentoring all of them at a magical law retreat and that the medical devices were used to gauge their potential magical power. Muhyo, Yoichi and Biko finish their project of opening the messenger gate directly to Hell. Biko saves Yoichi from being engulfed by the messenger gate. At night in a dorm room, Roji loses ten times in a row against Lili and Maril in a card game. After they review the relaxing schedule of the magical law retreat, they encounter a three-eyed spider vengeful spirit in the hallway. This is actually the survival training of the magical law retreat that Page is secretly monitoring.

August 11, 2020 (2020-08-11)
With the entire dormitory on lockdown, Roji, Lili and Maril hide from the spider spirit in Ebisu's dorm room, where Ebusi reveals to Roji that Lili and Maril are magical law doctors specializing in research but are second-class secretaries. Roji, Ebisu, Lili and Maril agree to form an alliance. Using talismans, Roji performs five arts of exorcism and Ebisu performs a magic-binding spell against the spider spirit which tries to capture two examinees, but another spider spirit lurks behind them. Meanwhile, Muhyo summons Yuuri after contacting Hades Ruararie, as Muhyo plans to form a contract with Hades Ruararie by defeating him in battle. However, the battle leans in favor of Hades Ruararie when it uses the Thousand Tongues. After both spider spirits are subdued, Imai discreetly reports the results to Page, who is seen playing chess with Emily, the warden of the third magic prison. As the survival training continues, two giant-headed spirits called ghasts appear. The first one spews blue acid on the hallway floor, while the second one releases a spirit known as Bellocent of Mist Mountain. Imai suddenly arrives and warns Roji, Ebisu, Lili and Maril, but Bellocent causes a massive short circuit in the dormitory, cutting off all electricity. While Page prepares to personally investigate the situation, Bellocent and the ghasts continue to attack the other examinees. With no way to exit the dormitory, Imai unveils to Roji, Ebisu, Lili and Maril that the magical law retreat is a cover for a warfare development program to counter forbidden magical law. Moreover, the magic prison was allowed to release the spider spirits and the ghasts, but Bellocent was not on the list. Ebisu explains that Bellocent can use her proboscis to burrow inside the minds of humans and turn them into zombies. Bellocent soon locates Roji, Imai, Ebisu, Lili and Maril. After telling his associates to try opening the dormitory from the outside, Page learns from Emily that Bellocent used telekinesis in order to escape from the magic prison. Hades Ruararie feels victorious against Yuuri, but Muhyo prepares to unleash Yuuri's true power.

Using talismans, Imai performs an exorcism circle of six hands against Bellocent, but this has no effect. Bellocent trails Roji, Imai, Ebisu, Lili and Maril, who take cover in a study room. Meanwhile, Muhyo activates Yuuri's true form, which gives him an advantage against Hades Ruararie. Maril suggests writing a magic-binding spell directly on Bellocent, while Lili notes that this will consume an enormous amount of ren. Bellocent suddenly uses her proboscis in order to attack Maril's right arm, forcing Roji, Imai, Ebisu, Lili and Maril to flee in the hallway. Imai acts as a decoy by feigning her fall on the hallway floor, allowing Roji to ambush Bellocent, but Bellocent vaporizes before Roji has a chance to write the magic-binding spell on her. Seemingly defeated by Yuuri, Hades Ruararie transforms into his true form before Muhyo collects his contract signature. In turn, Hades Ruararie defeats Yuuri, urging Yoichi to use Biko's minion jar in order to summon a seemingly useless fairy. Roji, Imai, Ebisu and Lili reevaluate their situation as Maril is slowly poisoned with Bellocent's ectovenom. Page continues to find a way to rescue the examinees. Elsewhere, Teeki steals the genuine Forbidden Text from its location. Ebisu willingly transfers his remaining ren into Roji's left hand via a forbidden technique passed down by the Goryo family called a ren injection. Recalling his first encounter with Goryo in the past, Ebisu passes out after telling Roji that Muhyo wants a partner by his side. When Roji spots Bellocent, Roji starts writing on Bellocent's back, but Roji stops midway due to the pressure emanating from Bellocent.

Roji manages to finish writing on Bellocent's back, encasing her in a barrier. Meanwhile, Hades Ruararie wields Duato's Spear against Muhyo, but Muhyo uses the last of his strength in order to revive Yuuri to deflect the attack. Impressed that Yoichi and Biko did not flee from horror and that Muhyo still managed to defend himself, Hades Ruararie agrees to form a contract with Muhyo, with the fairy now recognized as Kiriko serving as the mediator. Page and his associates manage to break into the dormitory and tend to the injured. After finding Bellocent and the ghasts detained by Roji, Imai, Ebisu, Lili and Maril, Page then sentences Bellocent and the ghasts to The Magebow for the crimes of jailbreaking and willful injury. Several days after the magic law exam, Roji starts an internship as a struggling secretary at the executive office. During his break, Roji is joined by Page at a cafe, where Page offers Roji a job as a part-time investigator. However, Roji turns down the offer with the opportunity to continue being a good partner to Muhyo. Page says that Roji officially passed the test, which was to see if he has an unyielding and kind heart measured by his true strength. Roji eventually ends his internship at the executive office and meets with Muhyo, Yoichi and Biko outside Biko's office. Muhyo rehires Roji as his partner, and their next plan of action is to reclaim their old office. Elsewhere, Enchu, Rio, Teeki and Panza meet together, where Enchu entrusts Rio with the genuine Forbidden Text retrieved by Teeki. At Imai's house, Yoichi brings Nana over for a surprise visit, as it is revealed that Page hired Nana as a part-time investigator. As Muhyo, Roji, Nana, Yoichi, Imai and Biko prepare to celebrate with baked bread, Nana is contacted by Kenji Satō, who urges Muhyo and Roji to return to their old office. Muhyo amusingly notes that they all have a group date with trouble.

Kenji waits outside Muhyo and Roji's old office, as Muhyo, Roji and Nana arrive there via taxi. Muhyo, Roji and Nana investigate the old office after Kenji informs them that he saw a ghost. While Nana and Roji each do not sense any spirit activity inside the old office, Kenji explains that he has been holding down the fort ever since Goryo has not been actively using the old office. Kenji plays the recorder very poorly, as Roji and Nana sense a shadowy presence coming from Roji's old room. Roji and Kenji enter the room and initially find nothing, but they are suddenly locked in the room by a female lingering spirit with long black hair and big red eyes, leaving Nana to desperately try waking up Muhyo. Roji drops his magic-sealing pen while attempting to use a talisman. Opening the door, the sleepy Muhyo says that the lingering spirit is not malignant, while Roji believes that the recorder is somehow tied to the young death of the lingering spirit. Muhyo then sentences the lingering spirit to Mottled Shadow's Keeper for the crime of unsolicited transformation. To prevent this from happening, Kenji requests Nana to teach him how to play the recorder properly. A flashback reveals that a girl was teaching her younger brother how to play the recorder. While Kenji plays a song, the spirit is thankful and passes on to the afterlife. Muhyo, Roji, Nana and Kenji visit the tombstone, where it is revealed that the girl named Kyoko tried to protect her younger brother named Manabu in a house fire two years ago. Meanwhile, the Goryo Group Syndicate has found the hideout of the forbidden magical law practitioners known as Ark. Elsewhere, Ark holds a meeting, where Rio shows forbidden magical law practitioner Tomas the genuine Forbidden Text, which still needs a key to unlock the seal. While Muhyo, Roji, Nana, Yoichi and Biko hang out with Imai at her house, Roji is soon told by Ebisu that he plans to return to Goryo. Yoichi is notified that something bad happened to the main temple of the Goryo Group Syndicate. While directing his chauffeur Sakon to return home, Goryo learns that his headquarters has been burned down by Ark. Goryo is confronted by Tomas wearing a black cloak.

Exiting his car, Goryo orders Sakon to contact Ebisu and regroup with the others. Goryo then sentences Tomas to the Ropes of Avici for the crime of unauthorized extended lingering. Revealed as Goryo's former teacher, Tomas believes that Goryo is still wet behind the ears, capturing Goryo and dispelling the sentence. At the headquarters of the Goryo Group Syndicate, firefighters are unable to extinguish the fire, unknowingly due to Teeki remotely using spirits to attack the area. Nana and Yoichi head to the warp gates in the headquarters of the Magical Law Association, but Muhyo, Roji and Ebisu catch up to them. Ebisu informs the others that the main headquarters is burned down and that Goryo has been abducted by Tomas. Muhyo, Roji, Nana, Yoichi and Ebisu are taken by Sakon to Tomas's hideout. Arriving there, they are stopped by police officers, who forcibly open the doors and are attacked by two giant artificial spirits called constructs. Goryo is seen with a ghoulish appearance chained to a wall inside a chamber deep in the hideout. Muhyo, Roji, Nana, Yoichi, Ebisu and Sakon split into two groups. It is revealed that Tomas has put the worms of unmaking inside Goryo, which will gradually spectralize him. Yoichi uses a triple magic-binding spell on three constructs after Ebisu barges into a room. After evading two giant constructs, Muhyo and Roji encounter several small constructs, and Roji uses salt of purification in order to stun them. Nana, Yoichi, Ebisu and Sakon find Goryo infested with the worms of unmaking. Yoichi uses exorcism pills on Goryo, but this proves futile. Tomas remotely tosses a spider for the worms of unmaking to devour, causing Goryo to grow four more limbs. Ebisu prevents Sakon from killing Goryo as a last resort with a wakizashi, but Ebisu is impaled by one of Goryo's limbs while trying to reason with Goryo. Coming out of hiding, Tomas reveals that he orchestrated the reunion between Goryo and Ebisu, noting that Goryo was a star pupil but lacked any friends until he met Ebisu. Muhyo nearly deflects all the talismans thrown by an angry Roji, but Tomas uses a blast of dissipation against the last talisman. Yoichi figures out that killing Tomas will save Goryo, while Kiriko manages to communicate with Nana.

Nana catches Tomas off guard with the flash of her camera, while Kiriko expels the worms of unmaking from Goryo's body back to the underworld. Ebisu manages to use a talisman in order to destroy one of the worms of unmaking that Tomas tries to bring back. In the headquarters of the Magic Law Association, Imai witnesses several will-o'-the-wisp in the sky coming from the Goryo Estate. Page informs Imai that Teeki has stolen the Forbidden Text and left behind his mask, but the Magical Law Association wishes to pin the blame on Tomas. This leads Imai to believe that the Magical Law Association is corrupt. Ten years ago, Page was friends with Tomas teaching at the Magical Law School, where they collected insects during their breaks. However, Page found out that Tomas was a wanted criminal for committing arson, robbery and kidnapping. In the present, Imai notes that Ark has been searching a long time for the Forbidden Text. Muhyo and Roji confront Tomas, who explains that he is half-ghast which is a legal precedent. Muhyo sentences Tomas to Beelzebub's Treasure Chest for the crimes of unauthorized extended lingering, kidnapping of souls and unlawful imprisonment. The sentence does not work because Beelzebub is actually Tomas's benefactor. Tomas then offers his soul in exchange for Beelzebub's Armor. When the two police officers arrive, one of them shoots at Tomas, but Beelzebub's Armor makes him immune to bullets shot at him. The two police officers carry Goryo and Ebisu to safety. As Muhyo, Roji, Yoichi, Nana and Kiriko run away, they are chased by a gluttonous Tomas, who can absorb anything around him including material attacks and ren-based attacks. Roji performs the art of exorcism while Muhyo summons several spirit strikers in order to mince Tomas. Nonetheless, Tomas devours nearly all of the spirit strikers and transforms into his ultimate form. Noting that all of Enchu's enemies must be dealt with, Tomas lunges towards Muhyo, Roji, Yoichi, Nana and Kiriko.

The surviving spirit striker manages to slice Tomas in half, but this still proves ineffective. Tomas creates a vortex on the floor called Styxsand, which is a portal straight to the underworld. Muhyo tells Roji to dive into the center of the Styxsand in order to retrieve and destroy Tomas's book of magical law stored there. Thanks to an illusion of Muhyo, Roji manages to retrieve and destroy Tomas's book of magical law as he exits out of Tomas's back. Muhyo summons dark crows, known as harbingers of doom, which hover around Tomas. As Tomas uses his remaining power to retaliate, Yoichi uses a spirit barrier to protect Muhyo. Refusing to reveal Enchu's whereabouts, a recalcitrant Tomas prepares to attack Roji, Nana and Kiriko. Muhyo then sentences Tomas to Hades's Judgment for the crimes of obstruction of magical law, attempted murder and forgery of spiritual entities. Page and Goryo are each informed of Tomas's defeat. Sakon informs Muhyo, Roji, Yoichi, Nana and Kiriko that Ebisu has awaken from his coma in the hospital. Meanwhile, Biko tirelessly tries to make a new book of magical law, but fails after fifty attempts. Elsewhere, Teeki oversees Rio as she unreveals the seal of the Forbidden Text, while Enchu sets his eyes on Roji. Goryo and Ebisu allow Muhyo and Roji to move back to their old office. Yoichi, Nana and Kiriko continue as part-time investigators. As Muhyo and Roji prepare for the day, Roji cordially invites an elderly female client who enters the office.
