The Parachinar Public Library is a public library in Parachinar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

History

It was established in 1982 by Fazle Haq, then the governor of North-West Frontier Province. It was strategically located near the deputy commissioner's office.

From its operational commencement in 1986 until 2006, the library was frequented by students and academics for research and study. However, the period between 2007 and 2011 marked a decline in its use due to regional militancy, leading to Parachinar's isolation and the library's subsequent neglect. The library, which housed around 4,000 books, experienced a marked decrease in visitors, transforming into a seldom-used space.

The management of the library during this tumultuous period was minimal. Staffing was limited to a member of the Kurram Levies, who performed dual roles as a librarian and security guard, without specialized training in library management. This situation contributed to the library's gradual deterioration, both in terms of physical infrastructure and its role as a community educational resource.
