Raseswari Panigrahi is a former member of the Odisha Legislative Assembly representing the Sambalpur constituency. She was the first woman MLA from Sambalpur, elected on a Biju Janata Dal (BJD) ticket in 2014. However, intra-party conflicts within the BJD and organizational challenges reportedly contributed to her defeat in the 2019 elections to BJP's Jayanarayan Mishra.
In April 2024, Panigrahi resigned from the BJD, citing neglect by the party toward the Sambalpur region. She expressed dissatisfaction with the party leadership for failing to prioritize the development needs of her constituency.
