"Ratatata" on YouTube

"Ratatata" is a song by Japanese rock band Babymetal and German rock band Electric Callboy. It was released as a single on May 23, 2024.

It was later used as the main theme for WWE's 2024 PPV Bash in Berlin.

The two bands later collaborated on an interactive mobile game, featuring "Ratatata" as the only song on its soundtrack.

Background

On May 16, 2024, a teaser video surprisingly announced that the two bands would collaborate on new music. It was simultaneously announced that a single entitled "Ratatata" would be released the following week, on May 23. They debuted the song live together for the first time two days after the songs release on May 25 in Saitama, Japan as part of Babymetal's Fox Fest.

Compositon

Speaking for Consequence, Jon Hadusek described the collaboration between the two bands as "two of the most prominent practitioners of “dance metal” and lives up to its billing. Tech-y metal riffs are infused into a pulsing EDM beat, over which Babymetal and Electric Callboy share vocal duties — the former handling the higher melodies and the latter providing the gutturals and metalcore vox.

Music video

The music video for "Ratatata" was directed by the Schillobros and was released alongside the accompanying single on May 23, 2024.
