Regina Gorman is an Irish camogie player who plays at full forward. She won a junior county and provincial Club title in 2006 and in the same year she picked up various individual accolades.

Family background

Regina's eldest sisters Mary and Helen have been noted with warmth by various suitors and received praise for their previous appearances. Near the turn of the century, Regina's cousin Baby Guerin made a substitute appearance at inter-county level.

Career

She won the junior Club competition titles. As she advanced throught the ranks Regina represented her school in the various county and inter-provincial primary and secondary schools competitions. She also lined out in an underage shinty skills showcase where she and the others defeated Scotlands skills testers', either in Oct. 2000 or 2001. For Regina this meant a chance to play in Croke Park, which was a dream she had. She played at all levels as a minor/junior. She was involved in every position from the full forwards to midfield. Regina even tried her hand at goalkeeping for the club when the regular goalkeeper was given her marching orders. The substitute goalkeeper was unavailable because of her honeymoon and with bad timing the 45-year-old third goalkeeper had injured her finger and so was unable to play.

About

In an interview conducted for the Camogie Association, the club's Jim O'Shea described Regina in glowing terms she is possessed of unique abilities in her manner of gliding across the field and giving coverage to the other players which distracts any team she comes up against. She has bags of potential and I can see her going places definitely... We are very privileged to have this girl and to be able to see her in her prime. I could not be more excited.

Awards

One Junior County and 1x provincial titles, Minor League Division 2, two (2) Under-14 provincial championships, 1x Under-16 provincial championships.
