The Rivian R2 is an upcoming all electric mid-size SUV to be produced by American electric vehicle manufacturer Rivian.

Overview

The Rivian R2 was revealed on March 7, 2024, alongside the smaller entry-level R3 compact SUV and its R3X counterpart. A two-row mid-size SUV, it is intended to slot beneath the three-row full-size R1S in the Rivian SUV lineup. The proposed MRSP—a key marketing point of the model—is $45,000, a significantly more affordable price compared to that of the R1S, which starts at nearly $75,000. The R2 is planned to be sold globally, with it being Rivian's entry into the European market and the company's first model sold outside of the United States and Canada.

Specifications

Rivian has not yet revealed specific battery details for the R2, revealing that it uses 4695 cylindrical battery cells, which can be charged from 10% to 80% in less than 30 minutes and has a range of 300 mi (480 km) when fully charged.

At launch, the Rivian R2 will be offered in three powertrain options; single-motor rear-wheel-drive, dual-motor all-wheel-drive, and tri-motor all-wheel-drive.
