The subdistrict was created in 2021 from portions of Dongtiejiangying and Dahongmen Subdistricts. It took its name Shiliuzhuang (Chinese: 石榴庄; lit. 'Pomegranate Villa') from its historical location as an imperial pomegranate orchard.
