Sift Kaur Samra (born 9 September 2001) is an Indian sport shooter. She holds the current world record in Women's 50 metre rifle three positions final which was set while she won the gold medal in the Women's 50 metre rifle three positions event at the 2022 Asian Games. She was also a part of the team that won the silver medal in the Women's 50 metre rifle three positions team event at the 2022 Asian Games.

Early life

Sift dropped out of the MBBS course at GGS Medical College in Faridkot to focus on shooting. She is currently pursuing Bachelor of Physical Education and Sports from GNDU in Amritsar. She was introduced to shooting by her cousin Sekhon, a shotgun shooter. At the age of nine, she first had the taste of shooting at a shooting range in Punjab. Her parents are from an agricultural family and are into rice selling business.

Career

2023: In September, Sift broke the world record held by Britain’s Seonaid McIntosh, by a margin of 2.6 points.Samra scored a total of 469.6 points, 154.6 in kneeling, 157.9 in prone and 157.1 in standing elimination to beat Qiongyue Zhang of China.

During the 2022 Asian Games held in Hangzhou, China, she won the individual gold medal in the Women's 3P category while also breaking the world record. She also bagged the team silver medal along with fellow teammates Ashi Chouksey and Manini Kaushik.

She bagged five medals at the Junior World Cup.

2022: She won a gold medal in the National Games.

She won a bronze on debut at the ISSF World Cup in the 50m rifle 3P.
