RImatara or Rurutu

Did the Îles Maria belong to Rimatara or Rurutu in the 19th century? The treaty making Rimatara a protectorate of France in 1889 call it Rimatara's protectorate, but the 1900 treaty of annexation of Rurutu calls it a dependency of Rurutu. — Preceding unsigned comment added by KAVEBEAR (talkcontribs) 02:20, 27 October 2012 (UTC)

Marià?

Is Marià, seen here (original here) an alternative spelling, or a misreading of the scan? --xensyria 10:11, 31 October 2012 (UTC)

Prison colony?

The article previously said The atoll is uninhabited now, but at one time was the site of a penal colony using the following source: This was challenged in this edit, saying it may be a mistake coming from confusing with Mexican Islas Marías. As a result, I've removed the claim from the page, until any better sources are found that support it. --Yodin 09:05, 26 July 2024 (UTC)
