Requested move

The official name for the cartridge is .243 Winchester Super Short Magnum rather than .243 WSSM. .243 WSSM is a short-hand ie. abbreviation of the standard long name. There exists currently a redirect at .243 Winchester Super Short Magnum to the .243 WSSM page. However, it would be correct to place the actual article page bearing the title .243 Winchester Super Short Magnum and have the .243 WSSM redirect to the page. – Official naming convention for the cartridge by SAAMI and Manufacturer. Currently there are re-directs from the official name to the short form of the name. Should be the other way around DeusImperator (talk) 03:38, 20 July 2011 (UTC)

I merged the three other move requests you made into this one, since they're all in the same category and based on the same reasoning. The bot will notify the other talk pages. hare j 04:27, 20 July 2011 (UTC)
  • This is a non-controversial move for the most part but put it up for move mainly for feedback reasons as we do have several articles that are not named correctly at present and just going through some clean up of articles. DeusImperator (talk) 12:24, 22 July 2011 (UTC)
  • That these are "the official name" isn't particularly compelling, but we should certainly avoid having page titles which use acronyms as much as possible. For that reason I Support this request, in all cases.
