Background

This train was inaugurated on 11 November 2011, initially originating from Thiruvananthapuram Central to reach its destination. After inauguration, there were demands from commuters to make Rajya Rani Express an independent train. In consideration of these demands, this train was made an independent train. As it is customary with most train services in India, coach composition may be amended at the discretion of Indian Railways depending on demand.
