Liu Laogen
Liu Laogen(Chinese: 刘老根; pinyin: Liú Lǎogēn）Zhao Benshan and Xie Xiaomei directed "Liu Laogen" , which was first aired in CCTV1 on March 6, 2002. Liu Laogen has two seasons.
Synopsis
Liu Laogen had lived in the provincial capital of Changbai Mountain for two years. He thought he was not too old and could still do something. Thus, he used the source of his hometown and built a holiday village named “Longquan Villa”.
Under the management of Liu Laogen, Longquan Villa developed into a big business group. However, Han Bing, who had studied abroad, found that although Longquan group earned a lot of money, the management of the group was very confusing. Han Bing put forward a lot of reform opinions to Liu Laogen. But many cadres didn’t follow the new policy. The manager of Fenghuang Villa robbed talent and patented technology of Longquan Villa. At that momnet, Liu Laogen noticed that he was just a layman in business activities. Liu Laogen consulted experts, recruited talent. But he was cheated by the head of township. Liu Laogen was bankrupt and got a mental illness. At this time, Lilac came back. All the people in the village held a grand wedding for Liu Laogen and Lilac.

Evaluation
In Liu Laogen, there is no extraordinary circumstance. It simply tells the common things of small households. But these normal stories can attract more ordinary people.
The plot in Liu Laogen is very ordinary and close to life. The characters in TV show Liu Laogen are very real, too. They are kind, optimistic. Although there are small problems in Liu Laogen, its advantages are still much more than disadvantages. Zhao Benshan performs a good image in the Liu Laogen and he can always make people laugh;
For the condition that replay dramas occupy the screen, a large number of spectators flock to the phenomenon of nostalgic theater, some viewers and experts also expressed concern about the status of art production. Professor Wang in Liaoning believes that the annual production of domestic TV drama is amazing, the output is huge, the stars are numerous, but the audience is not interested in it. He felt that it was the most important thing to make exquisite works.
