Welcome!

Hi, 東京オリンピック1964, and welcome to Misplaced Pages! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Please remember to sign your messages on talk pages by typing four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Misplaced Pages:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{help me}} before the question.

However, there is a small issue with your username. As it is in a non-Latin alphabet script it may not display correctly for many other users. Although usernames like yours are not prohibited, Misplaced Pages's signature guideline and username policy encourage you, as a courtesy to other users, to alter your signature so that it also includes a transliteration of your username using Latin characters, so others can see it correctly. ITN recognition for 2020 Summer Olympics closing ceremony

On 11 August 2021, In the news was updated with an item that involved the article 2020 Summer Olympics closing ceremony, which you updated. If you know of another recently created or updated article suitable for inclusion in ITN, please suggest it on the candidates page. Spencer 15:32, 11 August 2021 (UTC)

Hi, did you mean to leave a message on the talk page of User:twotwofourtysix? I was only giving you recognition for an article you improved being featured on Template:In the news. I think you have the wrong person. Cheers, Spencer 02:28, 12 August 2021 (UTC)

RE: 2020 Summer Olympics pictograms

That's not vandalism, it's an automatic bot that removes WP:NFCC images that don't have the correct rationale for use on the page you created, specifically regarding what articles they can be used in. For example, the basketball one is only listed for use at Basketball at the 2020 Summer Olympics. Misplaced Pages is very strict regarding the use of non-free images, so you have to follow the instructions at WP:NFCC very very carefully. Curbon7 (talk) 04:34, 19 August 2021 (UTC)

Template:Non-free use rationale/Olympic version

(Related to the discussion at User talk:GeoffreyT2000)

You created this template, I believe, in an attempt to create a blanket rationale statement to be added to the image description pages of the individual pictograms from the 2020 Summer Olympics. Since such usage would not be allowed (see above discussion), I don't think there is any use for this template anymore. Am I correct, or do you have some other intent for this template that I'm not aware of? If there is no other use, do you mind my going ahead and deleting it? --Hammersoft (talk) 18:11, 20 August 2021 (UTC)

Nomination for deletion of Template:Works of 2020 Summer Olympics pictograms

Template:Works of 2020 Summer Olympics pictograms has been nominated for deletion. You are invited to comment on the discussion at the entry on the Templates for discussion page. GeoffreyT2000 (talk) 00:09, 21 August 2021 (UTC)

Templates

With respect, I don't think you're understand the purpose of templates on this project. One use for templates is to allow for the repetition of information across many articles. An example of this is Template:Events at the 2020 Summer Olympics. This template is used (transcluded, as we call it) in 61 articles. Another use is for information boxes, to allow for consistent formatting across many similar pages. An example of this is Template:Infobox Olympic event, which is used in over 7000 articles. We don't create templates when there is going to be only a single use for them. In such cases, we just include the information in the article. It appears you created Template:2020 Summer Olympics pictograms to be a single use template, with its only use on 2020 Summer Olympics pictograms. I would encourage you to pause your creation and insertion of templates for now, and carefully read Help:A quick guide to templates. If you have questions about the this, please let me know. Thanks, --Hammersoft (talk) 11:44, 22 August 2021 (UTC)

Digital Agency (Japan) moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, Digital Agency (Japan), is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Misplaced Pages). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Misplaced Pages's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Some things to be careful of in the future

Hi 東京オリンピック1964. You accidentally removed some comments made by others at Talk:2020 Summer Olympic pictograms#Olympic: "singular" or "plural"? when you added your comment with this edit; so, I've gone ahead and re-added them. Discussing things on article talk pages is the main way in which editors try to resolve any concerns or disagreements they might have about articles and removing comments made by others (even unintentionally) is something that can quickly lead to problems as explained here. If you disagree with a comment, then it's perfectly OK to explain why as long as you follow Misplaced Pages:Talk page guidelines. Please try to remember this moving forward because the longer you edit Misplaced Pages the more likely you're going to find yourself involved in some discussion on some type of talk page. Please note that you may remove comments made by others on your user talk page, except in certain cases as explained here; you shouldn't, however, do the same on other talk pages unless there a really good Misplaced Pages policy- or guideline-based reason for doing so. In cases where you're not sure whether it's OK to remove another's comment, you probably shouldn't and instead ask an administrator for assistance at WP:AN.

The next thing about that particular edit has to do with your signature and WP:SIGLINK. I'm not sure how you signed that particular post, but for some reason your signature didn't include a link as required. If you sign your posts as explained here, the Misplaced Pages software should always add a link along with your username and a time stamp. Maybe you customized your signature in some way and that's OK, but you should try and figure out if you accidentally created one that doesn't provide a link. If you did, then that's probably fairly easy to fix; so, just ask someone for help at the WP:TEAHOUSE or at WP:HELPDESK.

Finally, you really need to reconsider marking all of your edits as WP:MINOR edits. Misplaced Pages defines a "minor edit" in a specific way, and the vast majority of the ones you're making (e.g. page moves, adding/removing blocks of content, reverting others) aren't minor edits. This might seem like a "minor" problem (pun intended), but it's actually something that can lead to serious issues between editors when it's done recklessly or when it's believed to be part of a larger problem of making inappropriate edits. So, if you checking the box "This is a minor edit" each time you make an edit, then you probably should stop doing so until you gain a better understanding of what Misplaced Pages considers to be a minor edit. If, on the other hand, you don't know why this is happening, then there could be some technical issue and you might want to ask for assistance at WP:VPT to try and figure things out. Regardless of the reason why this is happening, the longer all of your edits continue to be categorized as minor, the greater the risk it becomes an issue that eventually an Misplaced Pages administrator is asked to try and help sort out. So, you should try and figure out why this is happening yourself asap before an administrator gets involved. -- Marchjuly (talk) 22:24, 25 August 2021 (UTC)

  • I concur on the points raised above. To date, every edit you have made to an article has been marked as minor (even huge ones such as this) except two. Ironically, one of those two was a minor edit . I would like to amplify that continuing to mark edits as minor could be construed as an attempt to avoid scrutiny in your edits. This has come up at WP:AN/I before. This shouldn't ever get there. Please cease this behavior. Thanks, --Hammersoft (talk) 22:49, 25 August 2021 (UTC)

Editing while logged out

Hi 東京オリンピック1964. It appears that you might have recently posted a comment while you weren't logged in to this account. That's a pretty common mistake that happens all of the time. (FWIW, I've done so before a couple times myself). You should understand though that when you edit with this account, the only thing that anyone other than an administrator can really know is that your username is 東京オリンピック1964. When you post a comment while logged out, on the other hand, everyone can see the IP address that you use and there's no way to control how they use this information. You can find out some more about this is WP:LOGGEDOUT, but you should always try and make sure you're logged into your account when you edit. This will make it clear to everyone else that it's was you made the edit and thus avoid any misunderstandings about WP:SOCK. Now, if you didn't know this, then that's OK. Moreover, if you want the IP address hidden from view, please take a look at WP:OVERSIGHT. Perhaps an administrator like Hammersoft can also help you hide your IP address if that's what you want. Just for reference, another editor saw the post you made and removed for some reason. Maybe they thought it was some sort of vandalism. but I re-added your comment because it clearly wasn't vandalism at all. This is, however, the kind of confusion that can often happen when an editor forgets to log in when they post and is another reason why it's good to make sure you're always logged in when you edit. -- Marchjuly (talk) 00:35, 26 August 2021 (UTC)

Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed! Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. The reason left by TheChronium was: This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Misplaced Pages article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of organizations and companies). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). Edit Warring Notice

Your recent reversions on 2020 Summer Paralympics may be considered an example of edit warring. Both the formatting and nomenclature you are attempting to use is contradictory to the Olympic manual of style and thus would require some form of discussion on the relevant talk page in order to obtain consensus. Please also refer to former editions of the Paralympics to note the consistent style. I am not reverting your previous reversion to avoid continued edit warring but will flag it on the admin noticeboard if you insist on maintaining your edits. F1lover22 talk 12:27, 8 September 2021 (UTC)

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing.

Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, please note that there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Proposed deletion of Tyler Carter (alpine skier)

Notice

The article Tyler Carter (alpine skier) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No text. Only one reference and an infobox. Not enough information to be encyclopedic.

While all constructive contributions to Misplaced Pages are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
