Vijay Kanakamedala is an Indian film director and screenwriter who works primarily in Telugu cinema. He made his directorial debut with the film Naandhi, which became commercial success, grossing over ₹9.5 crore at the box office.
Carrer
Vijay hailing from Bhadrachalam, completed his B.Sc. in Computer Science. He then pursued film studies at a Film Institute Hyderabad and worked as an assistant to the director K. Balachander. Later he worked as a assistant director for Harish Shankar in the films Mirapakay, Gabbar Singh and DJ: Duvvada Jagannadham.
In 2021, Vijay made his directorial debut with Naandhi, starring Allari Naresh and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar. The Hindu described "Naandhi marks as a confident directorial debut for Vijay Kanakamedala", following the critical acclaim and box office success of Naandhi, Vijay collaborated once again with Allari Naresh for the film Ugram, released in 2023 and received mixed reviews where Film Companion said that "Vijay Kanakamedala is a loud and angry filmmaker."
His upcoming multi-starrer film titled Bhairavam featuring Bellamkonda Sreenivas, Nara Rohith, Manchu Manoj and Aditi Shankar is currently in production.
