It was published alongside six other stories by the authors Robert Hood, Cameron Fade Gurr, Rjurik Davidson, Alistair Ong, Anthony Fordham, and Helen Sargeant. "Whispers of the Mist Children" won the 1999 Aurealis Award for best fantasy short story.
