Yu Chen (Chinese: 余陈, born 1963) is a Chinese female contemporary artist and Professor at the Central Academy of Fine Arts.

She was born in Guizhou and later graduated from the Guizhou Art Institute in 1981 as well as the Central Academy of Fine Art in Beijing in 1988.

Born during the Cultural Revolution, Professor Yu is best known for her Red Babies (红孩儿) series, which features portraits of Chinese children in Mao suit and other Communist garb. It has been noted that some of the portraits bears a likeness to Mao Zedong and other well-known Communist officials. The title Red Babies (红孩儿) has a double meaning, which simultaneously refers to Children born in Communist China, as well as the Red Boy in the Chinese epic Journey to the West.
