Equitana is the world's biggest trade fair for equestrian sports. This bi-annual trade fair first opened in 1972 in Essen, Germany.
It’s most recent edition was held March 14th to 22nd, 2009 at Essen fairground. More than 850 exhibitors from 30 countries registered for the trade fair which was visited by 213,000 visitors from Germany and around the world. Equitana is one of Germany's most visited trade fairs.
On March 31, 2010 it was announced that Equitana had entered into a ten-year contract to ensure that Essen which will remain the “horse world’s trade fair capital“ for another five events until the year 2019.
The next Equitana will take place from March 12th to 20th, 2011.
