Re: Trouble with image size...
The dimensions given are a maximum in either dimension, regardless of proportion, so vertically-oriented images will come out smaller than horizontally-oriented ones. I'm of the opinion that this, while inconvenient, is better than having widely inconsistent row heights (which would be the result if the height was not so sharply limited); it's not like the images really need to be well-viewable anyways, just recognizable enough to serve as icons.
As a practical point, perhaps the image could be rotated sideways? ;-) Kirill Lokshin 22:31, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

Vandalism???
Before accusing me of vandalism, please note that the Red Army invasion of Georgia cannot be merged with the entry which redirects back to the article. Thanks, --Kober 19:13, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
- Should we also rename Invasion of Poland (1939), Invasion of Yugoslavia, Anglo-Soviet invasion of Iran and 2003 invasion of Iraq? Red Army invasion of Georgia is the name most frequently used in scholarly literature and I've provided dozens of sources for that. Invasion is invasion: It either happened or not. My sources say it happened and use exactly the word "invasion" to describe the event. If you have some sources claiming otherwise, please provide. See Talk:Red Army invasion of Georgia for more details. --Kober 19:55, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
- You have a point, but I think that one should explain his/her reasoning when tagging the article. This sort of edit summary cannot be considered a valid argument, but rather a personal attack upon the author of the article. The article and its title are well-referenced, but still not so easily acceptable to some users who, unfortunately, still believe in Soviet-era myths about the "workers revolution in Georgia" and "brotherly aid provided by the Peasants and Workers Red Army." Best, --Kober 20:37, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
- P.S. Please also note POV and OR content of the Russian-Georgian war article and its pro-Georgian emphasis. Despite being Georgian, I would recommend to have it deleted. Thanks, Kober 20:48, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
Stuff
Hi, Some time ago you put a {{POV}} tag to this article Occupation of Bessarabia by the Soviet Union, but you did not say anything about your reasons in the talk page. By now the article has seen some more clean-up from several good-faith users. Could, you, please, read the article again in the near future, and post your objections in the talk page. Thank you. :Dc76 06:45, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
- If I am not misteken, you were one of the people that held on to the Moldovan census of 2004 and the Ukrainain census of 2001 as if your own life was at stake. You wanted to keep official data in the censa and you did not allow for users to state alternate sources and views (i.e. that Moldovans are in fact Romanians), exactly because you wanted to "cite census data only". We both know that is NOT the real reason but anyways...NOW you come to the Romanians article and claim that census data do not have to be used since they too have mistakes? This is a double-standard! Either we all agree (as a wiki. community) that census data will not be primary sources when estimating the population numbers or we all agree that they do - which is exactly the situation right now. But please do not push one POV in some articles and totally different norms and requirements in others.Dapiks 22:46, 12 November 2006 (UTC)

U.S. military Eastern Front maps
Hi Grafikm, I am trying to update the Soviet Fronts by listing the armies assigned to them at various times, and one of the readily available sources seems to be the brilliant US Army Eastern Front maps. Is there a central list of them somewhere? Cheers Buckshot06 08:19, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

Removing tags
Even if you disagree with its application, you cannot simply remove the "replaceable fair use" tag, anymore than you can remove an AfD tag. It's considered vandalism. Please continue to dispute it on the talk page by all means, but leave the tag be. Thanks. —Chowbok ☠ 21:33, 24 November 2006 (UTC)

Sources d'images
- Image:Soviet civilians in a ruined Smolensk.jpg
- Image:A sapper searching for mines in Smolensk.jpg
- Image:Smolensk streets after liberation.jpg
- Image:Soviet civilians in a ruined Smolensk.jpg
Merci d'avance. fr:User:Bilou

Image:Teresa wong.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Teresa wong.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Misplaced Pages articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add
{{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Oden 13:22, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

User:Grafikm_fr's personal vendetta
You said on my talk page: "Renata, this is at best a disgusting personal attack. As for Oden, his behaviour was criticized by several other users (including your servant), so making it sound like Ghirla's crusade is at best inadequate. As for Ghirla himself, well, at least he's creating content, not taking fun in destroying it in the name of grand yet hollow principles like "free content" and "yeah sure, you can take a free pic of this star, just ask her"."
- My talk page is not a forum for your personal vendettas, do not use Misplaced Pages for your own personal agenda, instead try to find a way to assume good faith and to contribute in a positive way.
- As concerns your attitude regarding Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines, such a statement gives cause for concern, and compels a need to review your contributions in greater detail in order to ensure that any material you have contributed (like Image:Teresa wong.jpg) is not in violation of policy. --Oden 18:03, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
