Panathinaikos B

Where would I make a plea that a page be nominated for deletion? I tried to research it to save it but there is nothing...Panathinaikos B is the current iteration - CaliBuds (talk) 01:53, 3 August 2021 (UTC) CaliBuds (talk) 01:53, 3 August 2021 (UTC)

Hi CaliBuds. You can found out more about this in WP:DELETION, but bascially there are three types of deletion process on Misplaced Pages: tagged for speedy deletion, proposed for deletion and nomimated for deletion. Before you start a deletion process, however, you might want to ask about the article first at Misplaced Pages talk:WikiProject Football to see what some others might think. The article was created about a month ago and it doesn't look like it ever received a proper review or assessment from any members of that WikiProject. It's possible the a member or some members of WikiProject Football might feel there's a viable alternative to deleting the article. -- Marchjuly (talk) 02:06, 3 August 2021 (UTC)
Thanks Marchjuly not sure it's worth the work but I appreciate the info! CaliBuds (talk) 13:44, 3 August 2021 (UTC)
Don't worry, I have found some Greek sources and I will try to improve the article Castiruiz (talk) 23:20, 5 August 2021 (UTC)

Are wiki guidelines subjective?

I've followed WP guidelines to the letter and continue to get denied on the following article: https://en.wikipedia.org/Draft:Alison_Morrow

Morrow has 2 Emmy awards and a Sigma Delta Chi award in journalism. And her work has been referenced in federal and state law reviews. I have 13 references in my article that are independent sources including the Emmy web sites and the SDC web sites and other major news outlets other than her own.

This biography checks more boxes than the guidelines indicate are required. This subject is far more notable than many of the biographies on WP. So what else has to happen to get this article published? Stocatta (talk) 13:42, 3 August 2021 (UTC)

@Stocatta: Welcome to the Teahouse. Have you read the comments (prefaced with exclamation mark ) below the templated responses? There's also concern that you may be in an undisclosed paid relationship with Morrow or someone related, which is something you should clear up first; if you do have such a connection, please disclose it on your user page. When a reviewer has concerns over that, it usually also means that the draft isn't neutral in tone, and that it serves to promote the subject, which Misplaced Pages isn't interested in doing. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 14:41, 3 August 2021 (UTC)
I have no relationship to Alison Morrow. She came up as a guest on a podcast I listen to and I was very impressed with her story. She is well respected in her field. I've been editing occasional articles on WP for a little while and wanted to take a stab at writing an article. But I'm shocked at the difficulty in getting published since I based my wording and approach on dozens of other biographies that are far more esoteric than Morrow. So are you recommending that I indicate in my user page that I have no association with each article subject that I take on? Stocatta (talk) 06:05, 4 August 2021 (UTC)
I need more help determining where I'm supposed to state that I'm not affiliated with her or being paid by her. Isn't the first tenant of WP: "Assume good faith?" Why do I have a red box indicating I may be paid and violated terms of service. I've contributed to other articles. How did I get tagged as a paid writer? Stocatta (talk) 06:45, 4 August 2021 (UTC)
@Stocatta: You can state that you don't have a paid relationship with Morrow on the draft's talk page; I see you've done so already on your user talk page. You got tagged because the tone that was used wasn't encyclopedic, which causes reviewers to suspect the draft is written to promote.
since I based my wording and approach on dozens of other biographies I would make sure the other articles you're using are up to snuff, because they might not be good examples themselves. You should emulate the style of articles that have reached the status of good or featured article. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 13:56, 4 August 2021 (UTC)
I sincerely appreciate your guidance on this matter. I hope I don't waste too much of your time. But I still don't get it. I had no more than a few adjectives in my original article. I looked through the list of featured articles and just grabbed a couple of biographies. I am aware of Henry W. Sawyer and while I appreciate his contributions, I find several adjectives in the article that are subjective in nature. Some of these references do not match the narrative in the article to the letter. I don't find them major enough to edit, and my article seemed no more egregious. I'm certain that if he were in his thirties today, I would get push back form the WP community about his notoriety. I've always been impressed with how well the collective efforts on WP add value to the process and benefit the public. Frankly, I'm shocked at how difficult it is to get a simple biography on-boarded so the collective wisdom can opine and develop it. I don't claim to be the best writer, but I know what the rules are supposed to be. I don't know how WP can develop its content if a small group of editors are able to keep content from coming into existence. I get that we don't want everyone writing articles on their own mothers, but the rules are clear and I followed them. Any problems with my style would be quickly caught by the broader community and adjusted. But keeping an influential and notable person like Morrow off this platform is simply absurd. She can make a call and get into an interview with anyone she wants. That doesn't happen if she's a nobody. I want to learn a more encyclopedic style but the subject of my article should be held to her own merits and not held back because I have a sentence that says she left the "grind" of the city. Who seriously thinks that "grind" is worthy of blocking an entire biography? That's rhetorical. I just don't understand the push back. Is being a WP editor some sort of club that requires some rites of passage? Stocatta (talk) 02:51, 5 August 2021 (UTC)
There are a lot of factors at play, and the following are by no means an exhaustive list:
  • Misplaced Pages has to be very careful about articles on living people, to the point that there's an entire policy on them. Claims must be reliably sourced and will be scrutinised, and if there's too many that aren't considered to be reliably sourced, the draft is not going to be considered for mainspace.
  • The number of reviewers is overshadowed by the number of drafts that are submitted for review. A few weeks ago the backlog was backed up to the point that a draft might not be reviewed for half a year after submission. Time and effort is spent checking to see if drafts are up to encyclopedic standards, and a lot of the time they aren't, which leads to...
  • Reviewing is, from what I've observed, a mostly thankless role. As everything everyone does on here is out of volunteerism, draft writers should do the best they can to make reviewers' lives easier. I watch a few draft reviewers' talk pages and they tend to be bombarded with messages from declined and rejected submitters, all of which nearly always have the same problem and solution, and many of which don't appear to have read Your first article. I will try my best not to presume the mental state of reviewers as a group, but the influx of subpar drafts can cause them to be incredibly sensitive to certain types of phrases. Is it possible that they may end up prejudicing an otherwise good article? Sure. But reviewers are less likely to spend energy on drafts that have promotional or other inappropriate language for an encyclopedia. It's like sending a cover letter or portfolio for a job in high demand: if it doesn't look professional, whoever's reviewing is probably going to chuck it without a second glance to give time and energy towards those that appear to have more effort put in.
Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 07:18, 5 August 2021 (UTC)
Thank you @Tenryuu. I've asked numerous times for more clarity on what is happening here and you nailed it. I think the folks at Teahouse have made some edits to my article that make it more acceptable for acceptance. I think my references are solid. Hopefully the article will get approved. Thanks for your guidance. Stocatta (talk) 13:40, 6 August 2021 (UTC)
Stocatta, I've tried to find evidence that Morrow is notable, by checking the sources cited in the article. Nos. 1 and 11 are not independent, being based on interviews with her, and 9 and 10 don't mention her (2-8 give me "Access Denied" messages so I haven't been able to check them). I haven't tried to check the rest, but what I've seen, 0 of 4 sources providing evidence of notability, is not encouraging. Maproom (talk) 16:02, 3 August 2021 (UTC)
Reference 1 is from an environmental organization that selected her to join it. That isn't independent? References 2 through 7 are her work, not independent, but they verify that the work was done (just following every other biography I could find). Reference 8 through 10 are not her work, they are independent verification of the law that changed because of her. Reference 8 is a television report about the lawsuit that was triggered by her investigation. References 9 and 10 are links to the Center for Biological Diversity that brought the lawsuit and credited Morrow's work. They are independent and notable since they have their own WP page, right? Reference 8 has the CBD mentioning Morrow. References 9 and 10 are supporting the text and existence of the lawsuit. I thought I needed to prove everything in the article so I have subject matter references even if they aren't all referencing Morrow.
I don't know how you can get accessed denied on any of these links. I've confirmed them all.
I appreciate your assistance, but I still don't get it. Reference 11 is about Morrow, not by Morrow. Reference 12, 13, and 14 are the governing bodies reporting the award winners for the Emmy's and the SDC award. These awards were then repeated by every major news outlet, but we wouldn't want repetitive references, right? Reference 15 was about her running the Marine marathon while pregnant. (cool if not notable) References 17 through 21 are subject matter evidence for the controversy section. One was her report, and two were not her report but about her.
I thought we had to cite EVERY claim in addition to the biographical subject. So I have 22 references and 13 are not by or with her, but independent. I don't have any references that were not used elsewhere in other WP articles.
Should I remove references? Stocatta (talk) 06:30, 4 August 2021 (UTC)
@Stocatta, it doesn't look like the sources prove this person is notable yet. The awards are all sourced to the awarding organizations -- if those were notable enough awards, they could be sourced to unaffiliated media. The controversy over demonetization doesn't seem to have been widely discussed anywhere, and it looks like all the pieces that are actually about her (rather than about endangered species) are redlinks.
Notability is the most important first question that needs to be answered about a candidate for an article. If you can't find at least three instances of significant coverage of the article subject in unaffiliated reliable sources (two of them outside her local area), you're wasting your time. —valereee (talk) 16:21, 3 August 2021 (UTC)
Stocatta, please disclose your relationship, if any, with the subject of your draft. You wrote Morrow left the grind of city living and corporate news to seek the great outdoors with her family. I checked the reference for that statement and it does not mention or allude to "grind" or "city living" or "corporate news" or "great outdoors". It says she lives in an Airstream trailer with her husband. That single sentence violates Misplaced Pages's three core content policies of verifiability, the neutral point of view and no original research. Your draft should be completely rewritten to come into compliance with Misplaced Pages's policies. Cullen Let's discuss it 16:25, 3 August 2021 (UTC)
I'm new to this but your comments don't seem altogether helpful. Morrow did in fact leave the city and corporate news with her family to the outdoors. You are suggesting that "grind" is not an adequate impartial and frequently used adjective about bit city living and corporate work patterns? And the reference to "great" is a description of expanse. Somebody else removed the entire sentence but I think this is where the words add meaning and have not editorialized anything. And how can you say her leaving the news or leaving the city is not verifiable. You saw it yourself in the article. It is indeed a neutral point of view because I'm not implying that one is superior to the other. And I didn't provide any original research nor did Morrow other than stating the facts and referencing the facts as reported by others. Stocatta (talk) 06:43, 4 August 2021 (UTC)
So the references to the SDC and the Emmy organization are not desirable? If we are looking for facts wouldn't references to the governing bodies be more reliable than a secondary news report about the same? Stocatta (talk) 06:32, 4 August 2021 (UTC)
Stocatta, will you please address the specific question I asked you, and the specific point I made about a specific sentence in your draft? Thank you. Cullen Let's discuss it 06:40, 4 August 2021 (UTC)
Isn't it moot since the sentence is gone? Stocatta (talk) 06:48, 4 August 2021 (UTC)
I have no relationship to Morrow. I've stated that above. I simply wanted to try writing a Misplaced Pages article and chose a personality that I saw online that has significant stature in her industry and didn't have a WP article yet. I thought this was the whole point of Misplaced Pages. And the first tenant on every talk page is "assume good faith". Why are you assuming nefarious intentions? Did I do something to deserve the accusation? I understand how the system works. I've been editing articles for a little while and simply wanted to take a shot at starting an article. You're doing a good job at pushing a volunteer away if that is your intent. Stocatta (talk) 06:53, 4 August 2021 (UTC)
I've tried to check some of the sources, Stocatta, and I get access denied messages from the Krem and King5 sites. Presumably you can access them. Do you know why you can and I can't? What's the nature of those sites? Cordless Larry (talk) 14:01, 4 August 2021 (UTC)
Ah, they're local news sites. Strange that I can't access them but perhaps there are territorial access restrictions in place. Cordless Larry (talk) 14:13, 4 August 2021 (UTC)
This sort of issue could be hard to track down. I wouldn't have thought that news sites would have any issues. Is this sort of problem common? If so, how do we test sites to make sure they can be accessed by all? Stocatta (talk) 02:55, 5 August 2021 (UTC)
Easy access isn't a necessary condition for use of sources, per WP:SOURCEACCESS, though it's obviously preferable, Stocatta. In this case, it seems that accessing the pages via the Internet Archive works for me, so it might be worth adding links to archive copies to the citations. Cordless Larry (talk) 18:41, 5 August 2021 (UTC)
Thanks @Cordless Larry. I'll change those over to the archive. Stocatta (talk) 01:05, 6 August 2021 (UTC)

Aww, I was just browsing when I saw this. After reading the draft with it's rejections, looking around I found a video of the subject, on a site presumably made/edited/owned by the subject. Then others that are on Locals - a video hosting site. This video is one of interest - wikipedia-decides-if-youre-a-quack slamming Misplaced Pages? Well even so, that is not a barrier to having a bio on wiki, obviously its not helpful in light of current circumstances no matter how you slice it. Yeah I know impartiality rules. They also have current videos on YouTube where they're complaining about deplatforming alongside other videos slamming Misplaced Pages, again. They cover other subjects where faux outrage is employed. (redacted) the only problem preventing them from having a Misplaced Pages bio is a lack of notability. If you're in the US you would be aware, as of today there were over 100,000 NEW Covid infections reported. On Wednesday. And you Stocatta desire the addition of another non-notable, (redacted) person to the Misplaced Pages encyclopedia. I also say no, in part based on obfuscation posted to this talk page, but majorly due to sources lacking verifiability, a neutral point of view and no original research. Sources, references, notability, cross-references /and/ the accompanying editorial work must support this BLP. Missbellanash (talk) 10:07, 5 August 2021 (UTC)

You are obviously biased against the subject and that is not a healthy position as an editor of an encyclopedia platform. I can point to several characters on WP that I disagree, but it doesn't change the fact that they are notable. You make a broad, subjective and dangerous claim when you say the subject is an "opportunist who specializes in disinformation". If you think WP (or any platform) is beyond criticism, then you are an elitest and dangerous to the honest spread of information. You seem laser focused on this subject's allowance for free speech. You are ignoring her two Emmy awards and her SDC award. You ignore the hundreds of people that contribute to the decisions of those awarding bodies. You also ignore the dozens of legal decisions that Morrow's environmental investigations have helped shape. Her work literally stopped the State of Washington from killing hundreds of bears per year. I referenced that law suit in the article. But you would have all of that "notable" work swepted away because you disagree with her having guests that criticize big tech platforms. You are clearly not being impartial. I typically disagree with many environmental issues. I'm an American and I've never met the subject. This subject has accomplished things that are statistically rare, no matter how you slice your opinions. It is sad that you can't recognize that reality. Before attempting to exclude this subject from the "club of the worthy", I would ask you how many people have 3 major awards from entities in the class of the Emmy and SDC organizations. And then, how many of those people have directly influenced societal change via legal challenges. And finally, how many of those people don't already have WP articles? I'm just trying to give a notable person their due and document those accomplishments on a platform dedicated to that purpose. I'm concerned that you are an editor with the power to scratch off information that you find disagreeable. Stocatta (talk) 13:37, 5 August 2021 (UTC)
@Stocatta, Misplaced Pages doesn't make decisions on whether or not a subject is notable based on whether they've criticized Misplaced Pages, and @Missbellanash, it's not helpful to even discuss such criticism in this discussion. It doesn't matter, and we don't care, and the simple act of bringing any of that up here at Teahouse is problematic because it calls into question Misplaced Pages's neutrality. Please don't do that again. Whether a subject has criticized wikipedia has zero to do with their notability.
Stocatta, I explained above why this subject appears to be not notable yet. The sources don't support it. —valereee (talk) 18:31, 5 August 2021 (UTC)
Thank you @Valereee. Can you help me with the guidelines a bit? I read the guidelines as anyone with a notable award would qualify. This subject has 2 Emmy awards and an SDC. The number of people with three major awards in Journalism is less than a few hundred. How many major awards must a subject earn before qualifying as "notable"? Stocatta (talk) 01:03, 6 August 2021 (UTC)
@Stocatta, I'm going to take this to your user talk so this section can be closed. —valereee (talk) 11:14, 6 August 2021 (UTC)

Please help

i am being targeted by an user

Hi , i am a new editor here in wikipedia by account but i have been editing from a long time with my ip address. recently i wanted some changes to be made on the topic bhumihar which is semi-locked and when i suggested my edits a user named <sup style="color:#80f;font:'Candara';" said that Misplaced Pages works on quality content and i needed to give my reference which when i gave beside of reading and then replying me he suggested that i should be blocked but the other editors did not agree with him. i am currently working working on narayan dynesty and i came across many pages of them with minor information so for the same and i took the paragraphs from the page narayan dynesty which i had edited and took me hours and used it there . this gave the user another chance for taking my work down he put the page on draft without even discussing with me . is it right yo remove work without even discussing and this user is targeting me please take some actions and help Gaurav 3894 (talk) 10:45, 4 August 2021 (UTC)

Hi Gaurav 3894,
  1. You are not a new user - you have been around long enough, also as an unregistered editor, to be aware that this project has its rules, policies and its own Manual of Style.
  2. Your POV-pushing is tedious, you don't seem to understand that Misplaced Pages strives to present all the significant points of view as presented in reputable published sources. Several editors tried to reason with you at Talk:Bhumihar, to no avail.
  3. Regretfully, you have been quite disruptive with your tedious edit requests containing similar statements and placed one after another under every possible heading at Talk:Bhumihar: and likely many of the previous IP edit requests with similar content.
  4. You have copied text without attribution; Diannaa explained to you on your Talk that this cannot be done, and she draftified one of "your" articles; I did the same with another article consisting purely of text you copied from another article. Still you don't seem to understand.
  5. I'm sorry but your English is at times below the level required for the mainspace. I told you twice to use proper punctuation and capitalisation, and you are still obviously unable to understand it, as seen in the above paragraph.
I do recommend you to acquaint yourself with the rules of this encyclopaedia. I am placing a chart with links for you to study. In the meantime, I recommend you take a break from pushing your point of view on the Bhumihar and the Narayan dynasty. — kashmīrī  11:43, 4 August 2021 (UTC)

hi , 1- I am still understanding things for exaple i still do not know how to add attribution 2-it was very clear on the page of bhumihar whose POV-pushing . the only user who came to talk were you and another and still that time i only knew that reliable sources are the sources which have other sources to back them which is a general term and if you just go and the book you will find there are no reference for the statements made by the author. 3- the other 3 were by mistake which i have said but clearly you did not care to read them and then you say i am pov pushing.the IP adrees ones are not mine 4- Just tell me how should i write a new history the general topics would be same anyway the only difference would be in the language right ? and i copied just my edit which i made and which are completely different from the older ones kindly check. i thought that the edits i make are different so i have the copy right that'a why i did not add but if because of that reason you are removing my article then i will add it , better if you do it and add it on main article , as i said i didn't knew the wiki definition. 5- i accept that but in the article narayan dynasty it is fine. if you are saying this because of benares state then ya i accept it and i was going to edit it myself. in the talk page i dont that much care because after all it is not in the main space and you and all the other can understand . 6- as you are here then kindly read the book The Nationalization Of Hindu Traditions Bharatendu Harischandra And Nineteenth Century Banaras written by vasudha dalmia it has the things what i told you but are not reading the talk pageGaurav 3894 (talk) 12:53, 4 August 2021 (UTC)

If you even have the slidest suspicion that other people use your nickname or ip-adress in wiki, perhaps it is wise to change your password every week. If this doesn't solve the problem, check on your harddisk any files that are used recently. Open these files with a editor. This could be a key monitor (all keys pressed on your keyboard are written here). Remove this key monitor writing page and replace it with a read-only computer file (copy of autoexec.bat). Then renew your password again and the problem should be solved. Check also for anti-virus or anti hacker software. Bengud (talk) 11:16, 6 August 2021 (UTC)

Pending Revision Awaiting Review

Hello Teahouse,

I made some corrections to a page on 4 August but it does not reflect in "read." It says: "The latest accepted version was accepted on 3 August 2021. There is 1 pending revision awaiting review." The pending revision is obviously mine.

How much time the review may take?

Thanks. Sanskritysinha (talk) 16:32, 4 August 2021 (UTC)

@Sanskritysinha: Welcome to the Teahouse! With a volunteer encyclopedia, it's difficult to estimate when anything will be done. I reverted your edit because there were some grammar issues, and remade some of the changes manually. GoingBatty (talk) 16:51, 4 August 2021 (UTC)

Learning how to monitor new changes and preventing vandalism

Hello everyone. I am an AFC reviewer and with the backlog being cleared, I have more time in hand and I thought I should also learn how to monitor any new changes and prevent vandalism. Can someone redirect me to right project pages and resources? Nomadicghumakkad (talk) 02:48, 5 August 2021 (UTC)

I don't do it regularly, so when I do, I just click "recent changes" on the left sidebar. But check out WP:RCP and WP:CVU if you want to really get into it. Best, Usedtobecool ☎️ 03:52, 5 August 2021 (UTC)
Thanks, will check this out! Nomadicghumakkad (talk) 10:25, 5 August 2021 (UTC)

Draft ambiguities

OP blocked as a sock

Hi everyone, I am invited to let a discussion here about my draft. Do someone can tell me what's wrong with it which contains improvement of references to ameliorate the article? Example, I retrieved the current last two references, which are now dead links in the article, from Internet Archive. If someone see promotional material in this draft, please specify it here , I can fix it by suggestions from others, because currently I don't see nothing promotional.--Skycrapyrus (talk) 05:51, 5 August 2021 (UTC)

@Skycrapyrus: Welcome to the Teahouse. As reviewer Robert McClenon has noted, an article already exists at Consumers Distributing. As an aside, do not copy text over from the article into the draft without properly attributing it. It appears you have been asked if you have a conflict of interest with the subject, and the question remains unanswered, which is one part of the rejection.
If the concern is that you can't directly edit Consumers Distributing because it's extended confirmed protected, leave an edit request on its talk page with exactly what you want to add or change, and provide reliable sources to support the proposed changes. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 06:11, 5 August 2021 (UTC)
My draft is about an amelioration of article. All the reliable sources are in my draft. Other users can consult them. I don't know how to make an edit request on the talk page. Do you know how? Thanks anyway for this suggestion, I will try to know how to do that.--Skycrapyrus (talk) 06:17, 5 August 2021 (UTC)
I've provided a link above. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 06:19, 5 August 2021 (UTC)
Thank you, I tried to do the best I could. I discovered a submit an edit request by clicking on view source at the article. It redirected me to the talk page of the article. --Skycrapyrus (talk) 06:30, 5 August 2021 (UTC)
As Tenryuu said, make an edit request and specify "exactly what you want to add or change". The above replies did not mean to "submit my draft as an edit request". We are not going to completely replace the existing article with your draft. Meters (talk) 07:00, 5 August 2021 (UTC)
As Meters said, I did not suggest submitting your entire draft as an edit request. Find the areas in the article where you want changes to be made and describe them explicitly in your request, then describe verbatim what content should be added or changed with a reliable source to back up the request. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 07:05, 5 August 2021 (UTC)
It is very difficult with more than twenty reliable sources in my draft. Once the draft published, it can always be fixed if there's something wrong. I tried to specify the best as possible. --Skycrapyrus (talk) 07:10, 5 August 2021 (UTC)
@Skycrapyrus To be blunt: that will not happen. Ever! If an article already exists, we fix that one - we do not publish another version of it. So focus on what needs changing or adding to the original version, please. Nick Moyes (talk) 07:34, 5 August 2021 (UTC)
The name of the AFC process is Articles for Creation. It is used to create new articles from drafts on topics that do not have an article. It is not uncommon for submitters to think that it can also be used to submit revised versions of existing articles, but that is not and never has been how AFC is used. Submitting a draft to AFC when there already is an article is a mistake, a misunderstanding of what the process is for. Robert McClenon (talk) 15:57, 5 August 2021 (UTC)
It's the original improved version, but with additions here and there all over the place, it's pretty much impossible without all this draft. If anyone could take a little time to read it, they would see it ... One thing that can help is that the Store format section has no changes, it's identical.--Skycrapyrus (talk) 07:39, 5 August 2021 (UTC)
thisi should be on the article's talk page
I will try to specify step by step here:

In infobox: there's no Inc. on name. This evidence first is promotional. Type line is more adequate with Subsidiary, number of locations is 219 in Ca and 153 in US that should be fixed in the first paragraph with addition of source (ref name="aggressive") like in the draft. Key people line with the name of the 3 former chief executive officer and fixing year of parent company line (see draft).

In History section: removing Sydney Druckman name at beginning, not reliable sources mentioning that name. Add a reference from Macleans magazine and a second already in the article with ref name="woes" next to the first sentence (see draft). Separate two first sentences to create a paragraph.

Don't do this here. The article talk page is the place to discuss changes. Meters (talk) 08:19, 5 August 2021 (UTC)

Skycrapyrus To recap - An article exists about Consumers Distributing, so you are barred from creating an article about this topic. Secondly, the existing article is protected, so you are barred from editing the article. Your only recourse is to make entries on the Talk page of the article, proposing specific changes (replace X with Y, or add section titled ___). Other editors will implement your proposed changes or reject. Rather than a massive, do-all-this-at-once, try proposing a modest change first. If that succeeds, then another modest change. Yours is not the first time an editor has proposed replacing an entire article with their version (someone tried that with the Grateful Dead article!!), but this is never allowed. David notMD (talk) 13:14, 5 August 2021 (UTC)

The article is extended-confirmed protected because there has been a long history of promotional edits by relatively new accounts making conflict of interest edits. So any edits must be either made by established editors or approved by established editors. Because of the history of conflict of interest editing and promotional editing, we, the neutral editors, ask every new or newish editor whether they have a conflict of interest. Robert McClenon (talk) 15:57, 5 August 2021 (UTC)
You always say promotional edits but never specify an example, all my draft is neutral with reliable sources. A great example of what I made on my draft: the current last two references added by an established user are now dead links and I retrieved them on Internet Archive.--Skycrapyrus (talk) 16:36, 5 August 2021 (UTC)
David notMD Thank you that's what I beginning to do on the talk page of the article.--Skycrapyrus (talk) 14:31, 5 August 2021 (UTC)
Be patient and be precise and you should succeed. David notMD (talk) 15:53, 5 August 2021 (UTC)
That's what I do by discussing…--Skycrapyrus (talk) 16:35, 5 August 2021 (UTC)

Review of Articled KGK Group

Prashank321, I got as far as Inspired by his father’s vision, Shri Ghisilalji Kothari helped establish the tradition for innovation and diversity, but then gave up. (Misplaced Pages is not a PR outlet. It is an encyclopedia.) And you'd been warned: Nearlyevil665 had already written "This submission appears to read more like an advertisement than an entry in an encyclopedia." My suggestion to you is: Give up. Forget the draft. After a few months, it will be deleted. -- Hoary (talk) 07:01, 5 August 2021 (UTC)

okay thanks for your suggestion i will get more insightful information and rewrite this article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Prashank321 (talkcontribs)

Prashank321 I removed all the puffery from the draft. Per your Talk page, you have denied paid. Clarify if WP:COI applies. A weakness of the draft as it now exists is that it documents what KGK Group - a family owned business - does, but needs more references that are what people have published about the company. Valerie Broussard draft

The time to review has rapidly contracted it's now showing only 7 days. This is quite an acceleration from the 7 months I was shown and expected when I began. Valerie is on Twitter but she has become non-responsive, I don't expect to have further communication with her, and without pertinent biographical details it wouldn't be possible for me to add more to the draft.

Link - Valerie_Broussard

This page also seems to be missing a template, could someone provide a hint or perhaps a link to a resource that would make her photo stick in the right location on the page. Looks odd the way it is. Thank you. Missbellanash (talk) 07:49, 5 August 2021 (UTC)

I have fixed the photo positioning. Tips: (i) Don't call her "Valerie"; call her "Broussard". (ii) If I understand you correctly, you are depending, or would like to depend, on what your biographee says about herself. If so, no: Misplaced Pages articles must be based on reliable, independent sources. (iii) Descriptive prose is odd: "An established presence", "evocative voicing", "immediate presence", "an implication of almost 'lazy' expression", "easy to listen", etc: What do these mean? (In particular, evoking what?) And in whose opinion? -- Hoary (talk) 08:16, 5 August 2021 (UTC)
Hello, Missbellanash. As Hoary indicates, more details from Broussard are irrelevant - indeed, they may make it harder for you to write an article about her, because you may be misled into putting what she says into the article. Misplaced Pages has little interest in what the subject of an article says or wants to say about themselves, or what their associates say about them. Misplaced Pages is almost entirely interested in what people who have no connection with the subject, and who have not been prompted or fed information on behalf of the subject, have chosen to publish about the subject in reliable sources. If enough material is cited from independent sources to establish notability, a limited amount of uncontroversial factual information may be added from non-independent sources. --ColinFine (talk) 15:52, 5 August 2021 (UTC)

Wikimedia appeal - request for help

I am trying to find a solution to a problem around copyright content for Misplaced Pages images and could do with a gentle nudge in the right direction. Wikimedia appears to allow original content but there are grey areas where ownership is concerned, which where I am getting into a tangle. For instance, I own a portrait of a notable person who was described in a Misplaced Pages biography - so I took a photograph of the portrait (the artist died 200 years ago - so no legacy copyright laws apply) and submitted the photograph to bring the biography to life with a real image. I am now told that the license I applied (as my own work because I took the photograph) is bogus and it will be taken down.

Can anyone advise?

I have 17 similar entries and am being threatened with mass extinction! Guy WF Loftus (talk) 07:55, 5 August 2021 (UTC) Guy WF Loftus (talk) 07:55, 5 August 2021 (UTC)

Guy WF Loftus, this really is something you should ask about on Commons, not here; and I am no expert on either Commons matters or copyright. Those disclaimers out of the way, if your account of what took place is correct (and of course I have no reason to doubt it), then you were indeed wrong, however innocent your intentions. If I have access to a circa-two-hundred-year old portrait, and if I then photograph it -- straightforwardly, without adding what might arguably be described as original/artistic touches (cf the fashion for "appropriation" perpetrated by various artists) -- then the resulting JPEG is not my "own work"; it is instead the work of the circa-two-hundred-year dead artist. So what you should do is change the licensing deets, removing any claim of copyleft and instead declaring that the work is in the public domain. -- Hoary (talk) 08:07, 5 August 2021 (UTC)
Hoary, many thanks for your rapid response. That has made the transgression much easier to understand - thank you very much. All I have to do now is find out how to remove claims of copyright by altering the licensing deeds (?) and declaring it public domain (sounds like two actions there), which I may find using a popular search engine. Is that right?Guy WF Loftus (talk) 08:28, 5 August 2021 (UTC)
Guy WF Loftus, "licensing details", I should have said. Please see commons:Commons:When to use the PD-Art tag. Incidentally, to the best of my inexpert understanding, the ownership of the painting is irrelevant. If your artist did a pair of portraits and one currently belongs to you and the other to your sworn enemy, me, and if you manage to photograph "my" portrait as well as "yours", then the two JPEGs are equally eligible to receive the PD-Art tag. -- Hoary (talk) 09:11, 5 August 2021 (UTC)
Thanks Hoary - I'm on it!Guy WF Loftus (talk) 09:18, 5 August 2021 (UTC)

People editing other people's profiles

Who can control what's written here? how can Misplaced Pages accept that people write that about Michael Yeadon? Myself and my friends have lost over 50 people due to side effects of the vaccine, and no people to Covid19. People need the truth and even in Misplaced Pages they are manipulating results. Disgraceful. Time to act people x 86.18.226.150 (talk) 10:08, 5 August 2021 (UTC)

Hello and welcome to the Teahouse. Misplaced Pages does not have "profiles", not a single one. Misplaced Pages has articles. Those articles are not the property of the subject, and are typically written by independent editors, summarizing what independent reliable sources say about the subject. If you have specific errors you wish to point out and reliable sources to support your claims, or can describe how the sources are not being summarized accurately, please make an edit request on the article talk page, detailing the nature of the errors. If you disagree with what the sources say, but they are being summarized accurately, you will need to take that up with the sources. Misplaced Pages does not deal in truth, but in what can be verified. Only you can decide what is true for you; this is why Misplaced Pages presents the sources to readers, so they can evaluate and judge them for themselves. Misplaced Pages makes no claims that the information here is "true", only that it can be verified. 331dot (talk) 10:32, 5 August 2021 (UTC)
Courtesy: Query is about content at Michael Yeadon. He has taken an anti-vaccine position. If there is published reliable source evidence that what he claims to be true is in fact true, that can be added to the articles about the vaccines. What you 'personally know' is not considered verified evidence. David notMD (talk) 16:01, 5 August 2021 (UTC)
86.18.226.150, Also keep in mind that, as pointed out, these are not profiles owned by the individuals or entities they are discussing. These are articles and anyone can edit them as long as they follow the guidelines and policies of Misplaced Pages. I want to reiterate a point made by 331dot too. Misplaced Pages doesn't make claims that the information is "true" or "facts", this is a common misconception, the encyclopedia is based on verifiable information. If reputable independent sources get it wrong then Misplaced Pages will be wrong because our articles are based on information from those reputable sources. --ARoseWolf 16:25, 5 August 2021 (UTC)

Uploading of images (biography article)

I wish to upload an image of my father (I have already declared my interest in the subject) as part of an article. The image concerned is a passport photo. My questions are: a. Is it reasonable to assume that the copyright of a picture taken in a photo booth remains with the subject? b. As inheritor of my father's estate, I assume that his copyright has passed to me. If I am correct, How should I express this on the standard Misplaced Pages upload form? It seems misleading to tick the box saying "I took the photo". Many thanks in advance for your advice. Honza Giles (talk) 11:12, 5 August 2021 (UTC)

Honza Giles Hello and welcome to the Teahouse. I am not an expert in image use, but I do know that the copyright of a photo typically belongs to the photographer, not the person depicted in the image, unless the depcited person has a contract granting them copyright or there is some other circumstance. If the image was created by your government, it might be in the public domain, but it depends on your government's laws. 331dot (talk) 11:19, 5 August 2021 (UTC)
I'm not an expert on copyright either, but my view on the situation is this. By posing for the photograph, your father was effectively "commissioning" the photograph, and thus copyright would lie with him. If you were his next of kin, such copyright would have passed to you. You might do better copying this section over to WP:MCQ (noting that it's been copied from Teahouse), where copyright experts are more likely to be found. Mjroots (talk) 11:41, 5 August 2021 (UTC)
Honza Giles, if your father is no longer living, then it is possible that you will be able to upload the picture to Misplaced Pages (not Commons) as non-free. You need to make sure that all the criteria in the WP:NFCC are met. --ColinFine (talk) 15:57, 5 August 2021 (UTC)

Feedback on article draft

Hi, just wondering if anyone could review a draft I've resubmitted; it's been declined twice and the reviewers left me some great feedback on what to work on. I just want to know what to improve on before it's reviewed, and if I've missed anything that the reviewers have told me to change. (edit conflict)

Hello Huey117 and welcome to the Teahouse. The draft needs to include reliable sources; sources with a reputation for fact-checking and accuracy; that are not primarily connected to the subject, and there must be significant coverage in these sources. Sources such as YouTube, Spotify etc would not be considered reliable. You can read more about what is required in musician-related articles in particular at Misplaced Pages:Notability_(music)#Criteria_for_musicians_and_ensembles, which lists a lot of helpful criteria to see if a musician is notable. 'Did You Know' nomination inappropriate

The composer Louis Andriessen sadly died a few weeks ago. Around the same time my article Theatre of the World was published. An editor then nominated it for DYK for a spurious reason. It would appear entirely disrespectful if WP used this on its front page. I've made my objection but I am uncertain what the status is. Hopefully editors will understand - this is very insensitive - but no acknowledgement in the DYK chat. Could someone advise me the status please? Always grateful. Thelisteninghand (talk) 14:27, 5 August 2021 (UTC)

@Thelisteninghand: I think your comment got missed because you left it at the talk page rather than the nomination page. I've moved the comment and pinged the nominator and reviewer—that should generally be your first port of call, to get in touch with the users (by pinging or messaging on their talk page), rather than the Teahouse. As for the nomination, it was just hanging in limbo, not rejected (which is marked by the reviewer with ) and not accepted (marked with ). — Bilorv (talk) 16:01, 5 August 2021 (UTC)
Thelisteninghand had posted to the discussion but it is commented out; the others have seen it, per the discussion. Usedtobecool ☎️ 16:09, 5 August 2021 (UTC)
That was a different comment. — Bilorv (talk) 16:42, 5 August 2021 (UTC)
Hello @Thelisteninghand! Someone has to approve it with a tick (like ) and then someone else will have to come and "Promote" it. Only then will it be moved to the queue for the mainpage. Then, sometime later, it will get published. Currently, even the first step, the tick, has not happened, so you do not need to panic. It could take weeks. You have commented and the discussion is ongoing; someone should try and address your concerns before it gets approved. It is a discussion for now, and you can participate, which you are doing. Misplaced Pages discussions are not live chat, so they can go very slow too.As to the specific, it seems like you are opposing describing the work as grotesque, and not the idea of DYK itself. But you say you oppose DYK or posting to mainpage which does not make sense to me. Editors improve articles about the people that they like when they have recently died, and try to get them to the mainpage, either in the DYK or the IN THE NEWS section, so that as many people as possible can find the article and read about their achievements, as a way to pay respects and celebrate their life. If you indeed object getting it to the mainpage altogether for some reason, you are unlikely to get your way.The half questions that start with "... that" are called hooks and they are what are proposed be published on main page. If you don't like a hook, you should explain why, and propose an alternative hook (another interesting fact from the article, written in the same format). Editors will discuss all alternatives and choose the best one by WP:CONSENSUS. Regards! Usedtobecool ☎️ 16:05, 5 August 2021 (UTC)
I just noticed that Gerda had reached out to you a month ago, trying to discuss your concerns but you dismissed them. That is probably why no progress has been made. You need to discuss it with them in a respectful manner; there is no alternative to that. This is a community project; no higher authority is going to intervene on your behalf, as there is no higher authority than a discussion among editors. Usedtobecool ☎️ 16:17, 5 August 2021 (UTC)

Usedtobecool Thank you. The objection is a matter of sensitivity - so your guidance is very useful - the fact of the composers death might be "in the news' and that would seem right. Other info highlighted at this time would appear slightly strange to a reader I think. I've commented further on the nomination page, thanks for doing the moving.Thelisteninghand (talk) 16:59, 5 August 2021 (UTC)

Comment: every contribution to DYK is accepted for a spurious reason, known as a "hook". The whole business is an embarrassment. But it's a long-establshed tradition, and I doubt it'll be changed. 213.122.143.73 (talk) 08:12, 6 August 2021 (UTC)

Thanks Maproom my sentiments exactly! Change? Thelisteninghand (talk) 15:26, 7 August 2021 (UTC) Maproom And thank you, but my one word question is serious. I'm considering proposing something else to replace Did You Know. It's irritated me to such an extent in this instance - but I always thought it looked more like the cover of a puzzle mag than an encyclopedia. It's a kind of perversion of what we do with such dedication - WP has amazing things inside it but this format doesn't do that justice at all. It is tragic. imo. Misplaced Pages articles into a book

Printing books

Hello!

I have come upon this issue for many times now, and have been manually making books for myself. The thing is, i do not like to read long texts on the computer screen so whenever i am really interested in something, i want to have it on my bookshelf to read it in my own pace and with no technology involved, since i try to live with less technology around me as possible.

I have this idea, and am asking if its made allready or not.

There would be a link on the sidebar on the wikipedia, wich would allow me to enter an article to print into a book and send to my mailbox. Personally, since i am a poor artist, i wouldnt buy them from there, but i would still use the *program which would be able to make me an actually print-ready set of a4-s, which i could bind together by hand. This is what i'v been doing when i have had an interest in an article. I could take up this assignment though, and make it into something, that would start with the user, pressing a button "into a book" then adding articles, givin a mark for how many links down it goes, and other options, (what format, where to send, compact design-or beautiful), then pay some sum of money and wait for a week or two until it arrives at the persons doorstep. In that way the user could also say a big thank you to wikipedia, and know that a part of the sum is to keep wikipedia alive.

I just printed out articles for myself to learn to heart, i was extremely interested in the Biases , especially cognitive biases. I dont know any other place where this kind of book would be offered at, and human psychology is such a moving subject that many things change yearly. And since i am interested enough to use the biases as a learning material for myself, then i made the effort to have the book.

In my potential and good wishes for society, i think i could make it happen. All i would need to start is a number clients xD

Heres what my process looked like at the moment (with no programming involved):

1.Get link of article i didnt get to use the printable version of the wikipedia since of some error 2.Get .jpeg of the whole article i used website screenshot.guru 3.Cut .jpeg into size, for book used irfan batch convert 4.Print from mspaint in a library changed some settings on paint and on the printer and got the layout for printing ready 5.Folding and needling Put holes on the back of book and needled it together

If all this could be made available by one press of button, would be very awesom :)

This could be done with programming, setting up the manufacturing process from file to book, and hiring someone to send the book.

I am an entrepeneur-artist from Estonia, my website is www.kujuk.wordpress.com , facebook.com/kopsaju

I understand, the licensing would not be a problem. I do think i am not alone with this wish for having a few articles printed out as actual books.

So i was thinking i can take the freedom to play around with the idea of "book". For me, the concept of wikipedia, and the concept of book, are very interesting to intertwine with eachother. I bet this idea is not a new one, maybe it has been a raw one, or a useless one? I see a change in the wind coming soon, from technology back into touchable items. If not in a big way, then at least, some small community. The most coolest thing about making books in this way would be the designable interior. You could intertwine the subjects in what ever way you need! With no effort. For some, maybe even the articles themselves aren't that interesting, but the referenced material lists would be interesting. How cool would that be - i have an interest in a new subject, dont know what to read, hit in the keyword, take 4 links down, print everything with only a sentence of description, and all the references to the books which contain them, and have this Misplaced Pages Book in my shelf, an extremely large overview on the whole subject - In a week with no interaction other than pressing a button on a screen??

Also, i have ideas to test out different ways of design, which i would be MORE than happy to make an option for anyone! Kipsaju (talk) 16:17, 5 August 2021 (UTC)

@Kipsaju: Your general idea was one that had already been implemented (see WP:Books) but has recently been abandoned for reasons outlined on the linked page. Any individual article can be turned into a .pdf using one of the menu items to the left of all pages. Mike Turnbull (talk) 16:22, 5 August 2021 (UTC)

@Lights and freedom:Hello, welcome to the teahouse! To make a template that has different behaviour depending upon the gender of a user you'll want to use the gender magic word {{gender:user|m_out|f_out|u_out}} - this produces m_out, f_out or u_out depending upon which gender the user has selected. To input the user's name automatically when the box is placed on their userpage you can use {{ROOTPAGENAME}} in place of user. 192.76.8.91 (talk) 19:00, 5 August 2021 (UTC)

Experience and a proper understanding of Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines will be what keeps appropriate content on articles. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 18:42, 5 August 2021 (UTC)
Legitimate paid editing is possible, Bekwright, but very often these services are a scam or will take money and then disappear when the content gets deleted. See Orangemoody editing of Misplaced Pages for a particularly egregious case. Cordless Larry (talk) 18:51, 5 August 2021 (UTC)

Bekwright, if there is a particular subject you feel should have an article on Misplaced Pages it would be better to look for a project that may be associated with that subject or find an experienced editor here on Misplaced Pages that could possibly assist you rather than looking for a paid editor to write an article. As Cordless Larry points out, it is possible, but, as Tenryuu points out, its best not to pay for these services because scams abound and paying for services does not guarantee an article in the end. --ARoseWolf 20:06, 5 August 2021 (UTC)
  • @Bekwright, hello and welcome to the Teahouse, thank you for being intelligent enough to ask this brilliant question, please do not pay a dime, nothing whatsoever to anyone offering their services, chances are they are either too inexperienced to know to follow our policy on WP:PAYDISCLOSE or they are blatantly scamming you. They can indeed create an article for you (knowing fully well the article would be deleted because it probably does not meet our notability threshold see WP:GNG) When they have done this botched job they tell you to click on a URL, indeed this may lead to a real article on yourself but as aforementioned they know in due time it would be deleted so what they tend to do is inundate and overwhelm you by rushing you to make payment or else (inset their lies) The unassuming individual is too happy, pays immediately only for them to check later on and see they have no article as it would have been then deleted and by that time the person who created the article for you would have been long gone, thus, “the scam”. Furthermore, this is just an advice, an article about yourself on Misplaced Pages seems exciting to people but it isn’t necessarily a good thing. See WP:FAMOUS. @Bekwright: Check out WP:PAIDLIST. Chances are the writer services you find are on that list. None of them are legitimate. Many of them are blocked but keep creating sockpuppets. ~Anachronist (talk) 21:44, 5 August 2021 (UTC)

Links to Subscription only websites.

So my question and concern is this. I've been editing pages for about two years now and occasionally I'll run into the issue that a website I was going to use requires a subscription. There have also been times where I've clicked on reference links for other pages, and to read said article, one must have a subscription. With more websites requiring subscriptions (especially newspapers if you wish to read articles from older editions), what's the game plan for this issue? I'm only here because I'm not currently somewhere else. (talk) 19:33, 5 August 2021 (UTC)

This is a valid concern. NYTimes, for example, allows only so many articles to be read. Yet it is considered a primary news source. Good question!CaliBuds (talk) 19:42, 5 August 2021 (UTC)
@Sportsfan1976, if I’m reading and interpreting this correctly then you are asking what to do if you come across a source which happens to be a website that requires a fee before accessing the whole article? If yes, then contained in WP:RS is a blanket answer which encourages us not to to disregard such sources, especially if they are a reliable source. The fee status or requirement is negligible. Celestina007 (talk) 19:46, 5 August 2021 (UTC)
I agree with Celestina007 and 331dot (see WP:SOURCEACCESS), but Sportsfan1976's concern appears to be that an increasing use of source paywalls will pose challenges to our ability to write and review articles. As well as the Misplaced Pages Library, Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Resource Exchange is part of the answer. Cordless Larry (talk) 19:50, 5 August 2021 (UTC)
This is a clash of cultures. The whole underlying philosophy of Misplaced Pages is that information is free. We can believe it ourselves, but we don't have the right to impose our viewpoint on the rest of the world. People who make a living by searching out information, screening its quality, and writing books and newspapers need to pay for their groceries, so they have a right to demand cash for their work. It doesn't make their work any the less reliable (in fact it probably makes it more reliable, because they can afford to spend some time doing it right; and people buy a newspaper because they think it's telling them accurate news). If we insist on our sources being free-to-read, we're likely to end up basing WP on a tiny zone squeezed between reliable pay-walled newspapers that we won't use and unreliable blogs that we daren't use. If we insist that everyone, everywhere, should have free access to any sources, then we exclude nearly all books, which is to say almost all written information up to the last couple of decades. The point of WP is that we have a lot of editors, each individually with access to a small subset of secondary sources, from which they can write referenced articles. This puts the general gist of these secondary sources into a free information sphere, and WP's readers, if they're sufficiently interested in the subject, can get hold of the sources for themselves, and look into things in more depth. So we are still useful - in fact we're even more useful - when we used paid-for secondary sources. Elemimele (talk) 11:52, 6 August 2021 (UTC)

Need a photo for a notable black female American judge BLP who is in the news in the US Senate just now

Eunice C. Lee, a notable black female American judge has a WP:BLP article, but no photo image. She is also currently nominated for a higher court position, and her nomination is before the US Senate. There is a discussion on the Talk page where I suggested that a WP:FAIRUSE image might be able to be used until a CC-licensed one is found. I'm pretty confident, actually, that a fair use exception will work, since she is obviously the subject of her BLP article.

I'm equally confident that I don't have the mad skillz to pull this off in a WP compliant way that would keep at the picture watching governance committee for images on WP at bay.

So, could anyone possibly help with this? Someone who knows how to thread the needle of fair use images? Cheers. N2e (talk) 01:59, 6 August 2021 (UTC) N2e (talk) 01:59, 6 August 2021 (UTC)

It's not possible to justify a fair use image of a living person (at least in this case). See WP:NFC#UUI. Meters (talk) 02:04, 6 August 2021 (UTC)
The assumption is that a free use picture can be taken, even if one does not currently exist, and thus no fair use exemption is possible. Using a news coverage image as suggested on the article's talk page would be a copyright violation unless the image had been released (unlikely). Meters (talk) 02:15, 6 August 2021 (UTC)
The issue is not invalid fair use or copyright violation, but that Misplaced Pages has stricter non-free content criteria than the U.S. legal minimum, and the first ("No free equivalent") is failed for a living person as a photo could be created. I'm assuming you've searched on Wikimedia Commons and Flickr for compatibly licensed images. If you can get in touch with Lee or one of her team then it is possible that they could get a photographer (NOT Lee herself—copyright is owned by the person who takes a photo) to release an image taken of her under a free license with the release generator. — Bilorv (talk) 12:24, 6 August 2021 (UTC)
The user suggested on the article's talk page that it would be acceptable to use a news coverage image until a properly licensed image could be obtained. Using a copyrighted image with an invalid fair use rationale would indeed be a copyright violation, which is why I mentioned it. Meters (talk) 19:50, 6 August 2021 (UTC)

Biographical notability criteria

Hi i NEED help on how to improve the notability criteria of this article im writing. https://en.wikipedia.org/search/?title=Draft:Kevin_Gordon_(businessman)&action=edit&veswitched=0&section=new&preload=Template%3AAfC_submission%2FSubst&editintro=Template%3AAfC_submission%2FSubst%2FEditintroWriterday (talk) 02:08, 6 August 2021 (UTC) Writerday (talk) 02:08, 6 August 2021 (UTC)

@Writerday: You have a misconception about what notability is. There's no way to "improve" the notability of a subject; either they are notable or they're not. The way to determine if they are is to check if there's "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject" (quoting WP:GNG). If there is, great! Use those sources in the article. If there isn't, the Misplaced Pages article shouldn't exist at all, and there's not much you can do about it. Looking through your sources right now, some of the sources don't go in depth about Gordon, the person, instead of his ventures. Some of them aren't independent of the subject: the BC and AP pieces are both press releases and therefore not independent. I'm not familiar on the reliability of Driving, and it reads slightly like an interview, but a piece like that one that goes into his biographical details is what you're looking for.  Ganbaruby! (talk) 04:02, 6 August 2021 (UTC)
Pretty much what I told him on -en-help. The Driving source is the only one that's within sniffing distance of acceptability, let alone acceptable. —A little blue Bori v^_^v 04:21, 6 August 2021 (UTC)

You have been reverted a number of times, to the point where, in my opinion you are being disruptive. You have been told to discuss it on the article talk page and that is what you should do. If you keep up your current activity you are heading headlong for a ban. Use the article talk page to discuss it. - X201 (talk) 10:06, 6 August 2021 (UTC)
Manjeet bhoi77 Rather than repeatedly removing content from Bhoi which other editors are then restoring, the ONLY place to make an argument for your position is on the Talk page of the article. There, it will be essential that you provide references in support. Also, if you look there, you will see from earlier discussions that you are not alone in disputing the labeling of Bhoi as Untouchables. All changes to existing articles require verification with reliable source references. Repeating the same edits without making your point at Talk and reaching a consensus with other editors is called "edit warring', which will result in you being initially temporarily blocked from editing. If you persist this could lead to a block on editing Bhoi, or a block on all editing. David notMD (talk) 11:53, 6 August 2021 (UTC)

How Einstein was wrong

Essay
                                                                    Einstein
                                                                       was
                                                                      wrong

As we know that Sir Albert Einstein found a formula of E=mc2. In this he wanted to say that as graphite and diamond are forms of carbon, energy and mass are forms of a substance. He also said that energy stored in mass is equal to that mass times square of speed of light in vacuum. With this, mass can be converted to the energy. But it should be E=1/2mc2 where energy is equal to E, mass is equal to m and speed of light is equal to c. But this will only take place where a large amount of energy is released due to the movement of the body in the speed of light in vacuum. This proves that E=1/2mc2 should be the formula. As we all know that when mass is moving it possess kinetic energy whose formula is KE=1/2mc2, here kinetic energy is equal to E, mass is equal to m and speed of light is equal to c. Therefore, the formula should be E=1/2mc2.

But this is a case of higher things like nuclear fission or fusion in which we can see the sun where large amount of energy is released by the nuclear fusion, where the two hydrogen atoms combine to form a helium atom. But the main thing is the of two atoms of hydrogen both having 1 proton, 1 electron and 1 neutron which combine to form 2 electrons, 2 protons and 2 neutrons to form a helium atom. Therefore, the mass remains the same and so the resulting energy also. So, the thing said should be atoms of element have nucleus which we can break in nuclear fusion or nuclear fission. Here, the nucleus consists of proton and neutron which are bonded together by nuclear energy acting on them. When we break the nucleus, the nuclear energy is released. Therefore, Einstein should have said that the nucleus of an atom when broken release a large amount of energy (currently called nuclear energy). It is performed in the process of nuclear fission or nuclear fusion. But here, no mass is getting converted to energy or, energy is converted to mass.

For example, the nuclear fission of uranium235.

Here, in every case the total is equal. Please, tell me if it is wrong and why. Thank you.

       by Anshuman Burman
@Anshuman Burman: Hello, welcome to the teahouse, do you have a question about how to edit on the site? As you have been repeatedly told on your talk page wikipedia is not the site to publish your thoughts on relativity, to be included here it would need to be published in reliable scientific publications, like a peer reviewed journal or textbook. If you continue to spam this essay onto random talk pages, sandboxes and noticeboards you are going to end up blocked for disruptive editing. Have you studied relativity in any detail, because there are numerous errors in this passage you've written and large chunks of it are nonsensical. The stuff about how the formula for mass-energy equivalence should have the same form as the equation for kinetic energy makes no sense at all, and the section about the mass of atoms is wrong - when you combine 2 protons 2 neutrons and 2 electrons to form a helium atom it does have less mass than the separate particles. 192.76.8.91 (talk) 10:51, 6 August 2021 (UTC)

how to get images for wikipedia

Hello, I would like to create a wikipedia article on Karim Khakimov, who was an ambassador between the Soviet Union and Saudi Arabia. sources with conflicting information

If there are sources with conflicting information, is the source with the more detailed timeline the one to use? Would it help if I added the two sources here and I can get some advice? Thanks! 73.167.238.120 (talk) 10:15, 6 August 2021 (UTC)

There's a whole essay on this topic! In a nutshell: If two reliable sources offer contradicting information on a subject and none of them can be demonstrated unreliable, then an article should cite both.
If you're still struggling to decide how to make use of the sources, go ahead and link them here for a second opinion. Zudo 10:24, 6 August 2021 (UTC)
This is a source I used to make edits. As you can see, the source has a timeline of events. My edits were reverted and the Orlando Sentinel source was put back. I thought since the source I included had a more detailed timeline, then that would be the source to use to show the edits I made were correct. So both sources look reliable, but one has more information. Thanks! 73.167.238.120 (talk) 14:18, 6 August 2021 (UTC)
Were there any thoughts about the topic above? Thanks! 75.144.185.89 (talk) 19:48, 7 August 2021 (UTC)

@PamD: & their recent edits

This editor has been helping me to improve my edits and I have taken all their advice and suggestions on board...Now they have picked faults with me over more articles and these last two months...constantly reverting and criticing me...I see them not going after to other editors and they go after just me. I feel this is WP:Hounding. I have tried to improve but all I keep getting is talk page after talk page tabs with you are removing old text which is been there for decades or you are making a mess of the pages and you should have your editing privileges taken away...I am getting tired of it...I just want to edit but they seem to stalk my page and revert more pages I edit then actually thank me for helpful contributions...as they have done for Leeds, Knutsford, South Willing railway station & Borough of Blackpool. Text gets changed a lot but they pick issues with me removing it but if another editor did it would not faze them...It claimed on Knutsford page it was a sought after place and its villages with no reliable sources and it is a dormintary town for people working in Liverpool and Manchester which had no source backing it. Chester, Stoke and Crewe are nearby and people work there too...so it is a stretch to claim people just work in the two cities mentioned...the Leeds was reverted by them over me adding the city of Leeds borough to the leeds and South Willingham page was a mess so I tried to fix it but it removed it so I assumed the photo had been deleted as couldn't find it on WIki commons but it eventually came back...so that was my fault but it needed looking at...

I assume PamD has good intentions but it just seems to be me they are targeting...RailwayJG (talk) 11:49, 6 August 2021 (UTC) RailwayJG (talk) 11:49, 6 August 2021 (UTC)

You are distorting what PamD has written on your talk page. Her comments and requests there are very reasonable, and politely expressed. Please follow her advice, which is very constructive. -- Hoary (talk) 11:55, 6 August 2021 (UTC)
@Hoary: its okay her helping me but it appears to be me she only follows...if you can find other editors she has spoken to on talk pages doing the same thing as me then I will retract my WP:Hounding but it appears I am the only one of interest to her...if she helps great but some of her remarks in the past were sarcastic sounding and quite malevolent. RailwayJG (talk) 13:27, 6 August 2021 (UTC)
Nevertheless, I have some sympathy at Knutsford, where part of what you did was indeed removal of a completely unreferenced paragraph about how it's a desirable area (paragraph sounds like it was written by an estate agent) and a dormitory town. It would be better if both you and @PamD: discussed the issue at Knutsford's talk-page; that way, other editors have a chance to see what's going on, understand why the text is changing, and possibly find some references to back up the changes. This is basically a 'content dispute', which means the article talk page is where it should happen (but with thanks to both editors for at least using edit summaries) Elemimele (talk) 12:15, 6 August 2021 (UTC)
Thanks @Elemimele: I appreciate it...I would do so but the article does not appear to have many editors on it visiting it regularly...
PamD has been an editor for >15 years, with > 100,000 edits. Assume competency. If you do not want her looking at your edits, say so on her Talk page. Keep in mind that her intentions appear to be to make you a better editor. David notMD (talk) 12:21, 6 August 2021 (UTC)
@David notMD: 15 years doesnt mean a thing, other editors have been on here around the same time or longer and they aren't using tactics of your edits are disruptive etc Crouch, Swale has been on here longer and has helped me out with geographical side of wiki and other editor too...I have asked her on my own talk page to stop following just me but she never answered back and continued to do so...if you read here last edit on ] she said. That looked personal not constructive comment...I am not on here to score points but if I see old text with no sourcing and claims which I remove and then they are readded without reliable sources I will challenge it...Knutsford might be close to the cities of Liverpool and Manchester but it claimed people there work in the two cities...when other towns and cities are nearby so I challenged it claiming that it was a dormitary town and sought after and the villages around it. Nowhere confirmed it and it had been left unchallenged up until now...Same went with Penkridge with claims it is a market town when it never got town status and it is a village but it got challenged. I had to provide reliable sources...RailwayJG (talk) 13:27, 6 August 2021 (UTC)
Just a comment, she's probably not following you around deliberately. It's probably just that she looks back at her recent contributions to see what's happened since. I know I do. That means she's going to bump into your editing purely accidentally. Another thought: if you remove a sentence because you think it's unsourced, and someone else puts it back in, rather than removing it again (which sows the seeds for an edit war), put a citation needed tag on it {{cn}} and add a section to the talk page drawing attention to the reason why it needs to be referenced. You may be right that an article hasn't been seen by many editors, but creating a lot of activity around its talk page is one way to draw attention to it. If there is still argument, too few editors engaged, and no consensus, and you're not happy, you can make a request for comment, but if there isn't any talk-page discussion already visible, no one is going to know what they're supposed to be commenting about. For a long time I have maintained a bibliography of Japanese history on a university website which can only be edited on campus. During the lockdown I have been unable to update it at all, and in any case I think it would be better to let other people update and edit it too, so I thought of putting it on Misplaced Pages, for I see that there are other bibliographies of national history to be found on Misplaced Pages. I have seen the Wikiproject pages on bibliographies. My bibliography is large and pretty comprehensive, and subdivided by periods and subdivided again by topic. Any reason why I shouldn't go ahead? Pluskwa (talk) 13:36, 6 August 2021 (UTC)

@Pluskwa: Welcome to the Teahouse! Are you able to provide a link to the website, or is the website only readable on campus? Thanks! GoingBatty (talk) 20:35, 6 August 2021 (UTC)

Here is the link: http://intranet.ames.cam.ac.uk/jbib/ I have started transferring the data to a draft in my sandbox. Pluskwa (talk) 06:22, 7 August 2021 (UTC)

I think i know the reasons, but my problem was in the uploading of the text and photos ,I had lots of complex things . please tell me how can i get a page so easy and so clear to upload the article again. All is about me , i am the source of the interesting subject endorsed with photos.I am sure that people will like it especially when they will see en premiere a new breakthrough in the botanical world. Thanks SS Serge M Saliba (talk) 13:43, 6 August 2021 (UTC)

Hello, Serge M Saliba, and welcome to the Teahouse. I'm sorry, but I think you need to read WP:What Misplaced Pages is not. This is not a place to post new ideas, or a place to post information about yourself, or a place to tell the world about something. It is certainly not a place to premiere anything. The mission of Misplaced Pages is to summaris what has already been written about in reliable place. Once your work has been published in peer-reviewed journals, it may be incorporated into Misplaced Pages articles (but preferably not by you, as you will have a conflict of interest). --ColinFine (talk) 14:13, 6 August 2021 (UTC)
Serge M Saliba Please stop creating article-like content on your User page (deleted three times!). Attempts at autobiography are strongly discouraged (WP:AUTO). The fact that you have apparently developed a new variety of Kohleria does not make you nor it article-worthy. David notMD (talk) 14:41, 6 August 2021 (UTC)

Southern Turkmen

Why is there no Southern Turkmen dialect Misplaced Pages page? Wikiman2021language (talk) 15:19, 6 August 2021 (UTC)

WP is a volunteer project, so the answer is "nobody has written one yet". If you think the topic satisfies the demands at WP:GNG, you can try to make one, if you have the necessary WP:RS. See Help:Your first article for guidance. You can also consider using your sources to add something at Turkmen language. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 15:54, 6 August 2021 (UTC)

need an editor who know how to fix red text

I am not working on this article, but I found it need help. I can't fix this myself, so maybe someone who reads could fix it? https://en.wikipedia.org/Kansas_City,_Kansas#Further_reading Ty78ejui (talk) 15:35, 6 August 2021 (UTC)

Hi, Ty78ejui, welcome to the Teahouse. The error was because the note had been defined twice, what made it confusing was that it was defined on the template page itself rather than in the article. Normally your browser's 'Find in this page' tool would be enough to locate duplicates. Hope that's all solved for you now. Zindor (talk) 17:55, 6 August 2021 (UTC)
This error appeared because the article was defining an instance of Template:Efn which had the same name attribute as an identical note from Template:Kansas City weatherbox, which is transcluded onto the article. It was added in 2016 so seems to have been like that for quite a while. User:Zindor seems to have fixed it. RoxySaunders (talk · contribs) 17:53, 6 August 2021 (UTC)

Thank you!

Thank you for inviting me in teahouse. I'm a Misplaced Pages user. I'm grateful for Misplaced Pages articles which has been proved to be very useful for information I need. I would like to appreciate all of article writers and editors. It's my privilege to add little contributions for your efforts.

I'm Nepali translator experienced in "MOST TRANSLATED WEBSITE OF THE WORLD". I don't like to mention the name but it is in 1034 languages. I'm using Misplaced Pages from last 8 years to research about Nepali and Pahari (Pahadi)Language people of India and their culture. I had never thought that I'll be able to edit Misplaced Pages one day. The best linguistic training and experience of work helped to improve my knowledge of language. If I'll have time it is my desire to improve Nepali language articles in Misplaced Pages. I have gone through some of the pages. I have found that there is need of much more improvements.

International Players profile completely changed and replaced by some other non important persons information

 Courtesy link: Prabhjot Singh
Prabhjot singh is such a respected hockey player from india represented in world cup olympics and many more events have been the capton too and some cheap politician who is a nobody replaced and deleted all information of the great legend with his two line information .... disrespectful and unacceptable it is HARMAN.ATWAL001 (talk) 16:09, 6 August 2021 (UTC)

@HARMAN.ATWAL001: I've restored a previous version of Prabhjot Singh, which before being overwritten was about the field hockey player. If the "cheap politician" is notable, someone will have to write a separate article about him, not just replace the athlete's article. Deor (talk) 16:32, 6 August 2021 (UTC)
@HARMAN.ATWAL001 Somewhat to my surprise, it seems the article was about the hockeyplayer to begin with. At the time I'm writing this, it is again. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 16:32, 6 August 2021 (UTC)

Creating a Wiki page

 Courtesy link: User:Jasmineeve/sandbox
No matter how many times I re-edit my Misplaced Pages page to try and fix the ways that editors say it needs to be fixed, it keeps getting declined. I am trying to upload a page for New York Times bestseller, writer and illustrator, Brigette Barrager. I keep contacting multiple different people and not getting a straight answer. What am I doing wrong? Please help. Jasmineeve (talk) 18:40, 6 August 2021 (UTC)

Jasmineeve Hello and welcome to the Teahouse. I'm sorry you're having difficulty. In looking at the comments on your draft article(not a "page"), one consistent theme is that the sources you offer(largely social media) are not acceptable for establishing that this person meets the special Misplaced Pages definition of a notable creative professional. A Misplaced Pages article must summarize what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about the person, showing how they are notable. Misplaced Pages does not want to know what a person says about themselves, but what others unconnected with them choose to say about them. You may find Your first article helpful. 331dot (talk) 19:00, 6 August 2021 (UTC)
@Jasmineeve: Welcome to the Teahouse. Another issue that is present in your draft is that there are no inline citations. You may wish to read WP:EASYREFBEGIN to learn how to properly cite on Misplaced Pages. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 19:23, 6 August 2021 (UTC)

How to request another review of a re-written draft article (after initial rejection of draft)

Hello - I had written a draft article last year that was rejected and not moved to the Main Namespace. But I’ve now re-written and re-vamped the draft based on the feedback that I received.

I would like to have this new draft reviewed, but I don’t see a "Submit for Review" button.

I read that I can add Template:Substitute:submit to the top of the draft in order to submit it for review. Is this correct? I don’t want to move the revised draft to the Main Namespace without it being reviewed.

Thank you for your advice. Alwayslp (talk) 19:35, 6 August 2021 (UTC)

Alwayslp Hello and welcome to the Teahouse. If a draft is rejected, that means it will not be considered further- that's why you don't see a resubmit button. The reviewer rejected it because they felt the chances of improvement were low. If there is new information not considered by the reviewer, you will need to bring that to their attention. 331dot (talk) 19:41, 6 August 2021 (UTC)

Thank you for your reply. I see there is a blue "Ask for Advice" button next to the information box written by the reviewer who had rejected the article back in 2020. Can I contact the reviewer in that way to bring the new draft to their attention? I appreciate your help. Alwayslp (talk) 19:47, 6 August 2021 (UTC)

Alwayslp The best thing to do is attempt to contact the reviewer directly on their user talk page. 331dot (talk) 19:49, 6 August 2021 (UTC)

OK, I will contact the reviewer via their user talk page. Thank you for your prompt reply and help. Alwayslp (talk) 19:53, 6 August 2021 (UTC)

Hello! Here's a short question. I am interested in topics like Nuclear Physics and Molecular Science. Note: I am NOT an expert, just have an intermediate knowledge of the subjects. Insert Photo to Sandbox

I figured out how to insert a jpg but now it's just a blank square. How do I insert the photo? Jasmineeve (talk) 20:27, 6 August 2021 (UTC)

@Jasmineeve: The photo would need to be uploaded to Misplaced Pages (or Wikimedia Commons if it's a free use image) before it can be displayed on Misplaced Pages. Misplaced Pages takes copyright very seriously - you can't just find a photo on a web page and use it on Misplaced Pages. See Help:Introduction to uploading images and Help:Pictures for more information. However, I suggest you focus on getting the draft approved before you worry about the photo. Happy editing! Creating Discography

Would it be acceptable to create a separate Discography page for Roger Woodward to transfer the lists of recordings and DVDs from the main Misplaced Pages page? Thank you. SueMmc (talk) 21:37, 6 August 2021 (UTC)

Yes, I think so. A precedent: Alfred Brendel discography (though please don't copy its copious use of boldface). There doesn't seem to be any consistency, though: not only is there no "Sviatoslav Richter discography", the matter is merely summarized briefly within the article Sviatoslav Richter. Also, I'd ask within Talk:Roger Woodward and go ahead only after either agreement or two week's non-response. -- Hoary (talk) 21:56, 6 August 2021 (UTC)

I was looking up my dad’s name and it was spelled wrong. I’m trying to fix it but not successful. Anyone knows how to do it properly?

Give us more information. Where is it? What is the correct spelling? --Bduke (talk) 21:57, 6 August 2021 (UTC)
Greenorchid74, I'm guessing this is less a spelling than a transcription/romanization problem. But anyway, you might bring up the matter at Misplaced Pages talk:WikiProject Iran, where you're likely to find more people who read Farsi or know about Iranian naming. -- Hoary (talk) 22:02, 6 August 2021 (UTC)

I would like to start editing some pages that need improvement.

I welcome any guidance on how I can improve existing pages. I am a very quick learner. Is anyone available to walk me through an edit or two on a page that needs improvement? Wordslicer (talk) 22:16, 6 August 2021 (UTC)

@Wordslicer: hello, welcome to the teahouse! Is there anything in particular you'd like to do? You might want to have a look at the Task Center, it lists a few tasks ideal for editors just getting started. Happy editing, 192.76.8.91 (talk) 22:20, 6 August 2021 (UTC)
@192.76.8.91 Thank you. Is there a particular method to directly communicate with other editors?
Also, I noticed that there are pages that need improvement in the Task Center. How does one determine which specific sections of a page need improvement? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wordslicer (talkcontribs)
@Wordslicer: If you just have general questions then the best place to talk about editing is either the talk page of an article or a noticeboard like this one. If you need to message a specific user then you can leave a message for them on their talk page. If you need to contact someone with something privacy related or that you would rather not disclose publicly you can use Special:EmailUser to send them an email, you will need to have an email address attached to your account and this will disclose your email address to the other person, so be careful if you're privacy conscious and have an email address in your real name. There are also Misplaced Pages related groups on a lot of messaging services, like Discord or IRC. There should be clean-up templates indicating which sections of an article need work, for example if an article contains a statement that needs a source you should see somewhere in the article showing you what needs sourcing. Some clean-up templates are applied to the entire article, indicating that the whole thing needs work. 192.76.8.91 (talk) 22:41, 6 August 2021 (UTC)
@192.76.8.91 Incredibly helpful. Thank you for your time. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wordslicer (talkcontribs)

Where can I find a list of Misplaced Pages pages that need help with citations? Wordslicer (talk)

Look here: https://en.wikipedia.org/Category:All_articles_with_unsourced_statements Regards, Ariconte (talk) 00:18, 7 August 2021 (UTC)
@Wordslicer: The Task centre lists some helpful information in the "Fact checking" section. Category:Misplaced Pages articles with sourcing issues lists every article currently identified as having some kind of issue with citations, sorted into subcategories based on what the issue is, for example Category:All articles lacking sources lists all articles with no citations at all and is further sortable by topic. Before getting started you might also want to have a read of WP:referencing for beginners, which explains how to format a citation and explains what kind of sources are considered WP:Reliable. The only other pitfall to be aware of is that we have extra stringent requirements for medical topics (WP:MEDRS) and biographies of living or recently deceased people (WP:BLP). 192.76.8.91 (talk) 00:20, 7 August 2021 (UTC)

Why is my name red?

Artemisia-californica (talk) 00:21, 7 August 2021 (UTC) And how can I make it blue? I'm sure this is in the intro materials and I missed it, sorry!

@Artemisia-californica It isn't now, as I have just created it by adding a line of text which you can now edit yourself. Until a page is actually created, any link to it appears red. see WP:REDLINK for more details. See WP:USERPAGE for the type of things you can put there about yourself, if you so choose. Identifying Project wide issues

I am wondering if Wikiprojects have some tool for identifying problem pages in their scope. This seems straightforward to me technically. You can identify pages that are in scope via the template in the Talk page. Then it is just a matter of looking for matches or non-matches against particular regular expressions. So we could look for the absence of "<ref" to see pages that have no footnotes. I was imagining some sort of template that could be transcluded in the Wikiproject page. But I cannot find any such tool. Slimy asparagus (talk) 00:26, 7 August 2021 (UTC)

Need help in rewriting

Hello, can anyone help me get this Draft accepted? https://en.wikipedia.org/Draft:J.T._Patten I am unable to make it neutral enough... Thank you! NPFictionLibrarian (talk) 01:17, 7 August 2021 (UTC)

NPFictionLibrarian I may be able to help. You can check my user's page for articles I have worked on. I do most of my work in controversial areas making them neutral and up to date. I may have to go out of town tomorrow, and it's possible I may not be available right away, so if you're in a hurry, you might wait and see if someone else offers. If so, I wish you both the best of luck! Jenhawk777 (talk) 01:53, 7 August 2021 (UTC)
@NPFictionLibrarian: The draft describes Patten/Swanson as a "subject matter authority" and "expert" - claims such as those need references. The "blacker than black" description also needs a reference. Does Patten have a fictional biography (like "Richard Bachman" did), or is everything in the "History" and "Military / Government Writings" sections refer to Swanson? Happy editing! Moving a discussion

How do I move a discussion from my talk page to the articl's Talk page where it belongs? Jenhawk777 (talk) 01:46, 7 August 2021 (UTC) Jenhawk777 (talk) 01:46, 7 August 2021 (UTC)

@Jenhawk777: Here's one way to do it:
  1. Open your user talk page in edit mode and copy the text you wish to move.
  2. Open the article talk page and click New section. Paste the text you wish to move, note that you moved it from your user talk page, and save the page.
  3. Back on your user talk page, you can delete the conversation and/or note that you moved it. Informing the original posted would be appropriate as well.
Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 02:04, 7 August 2021 (UTC)
Jenhawk777 OH! I thought moving by copy-pasting was verbotten because you lost the page's edit history or some such thing. I guess it's different for a section on a talk page. Thank you! Jenhawk777 (talk) 02:22, 7 August 2021 (UTC)
@Jenhawk777:. You can use the templates {{Moved discussion to}} and {{Moved discussion from}} to indicate where the discussion is being moved to and where it was being moved from. You can take care of the page history stuff by including links in your edit summaries. Add a link to the new page in the edit summary for your user talk page and then add a link to the old page in the edit summary for the new page. -- Marchjuly (talk) 02:29, 7 August 2021 (UTC)

How long does it take for a page to get patrolled?

I'm not exactly a new Wikipedian, but I don't know how long the two articles I made recently, The Revolutionary Piano of Nicky Hopkins and Phuntsho Jigme, will stay non-patrolled. I have waited for some hours and no non-patrolled pages on the list have been patrolled. How long does it take for a patroller to patrol a new page? Capsulecap 06:05, 7 August 2021 (UTC)

Hi Capsulecap, there are currently approximately 5000 new pages awaiting review. Most will be reviewed within 30 days by a patroller, however some may take substantially longer as pages may be reviewed in no particular order. The article is already in mainspace, so there isn't generally any particular rush. Is there anything in particular making this urgent? --Jack Frost (talk) 06:12, 7 August 2021 (UTC)
@Jack Frost Nothing urgent, thanks though! Capsulecap 06:15, 7 August 2021 (UTC)
In my opinion, both of these may be kicked back to draft. The first, because there is no elaboration about the music album other than it exists. The first ref confirms it contains a cover of Yesterday (along with mention of 49 other covers). The second is to a review of the album, so perhaps that can be used for more content. Perhaps some content about Nicky Hopkins can be sourced from that article (with attribution), so as to place it in the chronology of his career. The other article is a quasi=standard sports stub, so that might pass. My understanding is that if articles are not patrolled within 90 days, those enter the searchable world. How do you ask for a citation to an individual piece of information in an article?

Specifically, how do you add the "citation needed" notices that are written in the same superscript as the citations themselves? (As opposed to having a citations-needed tag for the entire page.) Sparechair (talk) 08:56, 7 August 2021 (UTC)

Sparechair, add a {{cn}} tag at the position where a reference is needed. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 09:24, 7 August 2021 (UTC)

@Jellemdejong You can publish it by moving it into the template namespace (if you are autoconfirmed), but it seems to have a lot of red links for a navigation template, and should only be used if you (or someone else) is willing to create those articles. ― Qwerfjkltalk 12:23, 7 August 2021 (UTC)

Advice on rejected draft

Hello...I am looking for feedback as to why Draft:Mona Kattan has been rejected twice. The page is set up very similar to her sister's page https://en.wikipedia.org/Huda_Kattan and Mona is nearly as notable as Huda IRL. Please offer me your feedback and thanks in advance. LookToYourSoul (talk) 14:25, 7 August 2021 (UTC)

LookToYourSoul Hello and welcome to the Teahouse. The draft was only declined, not rejected(rejected would mean it cannot be resubmitted). Your draft just tells about this person and what they have done. Misplaced Pages articles must do more, they must summarize what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about this person, showing how they meet the special Misplaced Pages definition of a notable person. At least some of the sources you offer seem to be basic announcements or press release-type articles, which do not establish notability. Please see Your First Article for more information. 331dot (talk) 14:30, 7 August 2021 (UTC)

Issues regarding updating articles on Misplaced Pages

Hi, i just like to say first that i have enjoyed editing and updating articles on Misplaced Pages for the past week that I officially joined as a wikipedian on August 1.

However, I am having arguments with a user with regards to "technicality issues" on updating articles. The issue he raised is on this page/section. I am quoting the relevant portions here for ease of reading:

Just FYI edits need to be sourced when they are made, reviewing both of your edit histories it seems that you both regularly make changes and additions without citing a source. Thats generally discouraged. Horse Eye's Back (talk) 05:45, 7 August 2021 (UTC)"
Yes, i am aware of wikipedia's citation requirement when inputting data. It is not forgotten but the quantity of data being added is staggering. Additionally, if you have checked most NOC olympics pages, nobody is inputting their scores with citation at the moment. However, I have and AM inputting the citations after the finals of a particular event is completed as best as I can. Atom105 (talk) 06:41, 7 August 2021 (UTC)
If you’re aware of our citation requirements and purposefully ignoring them in BLP contexts then you’re being actively disruptive, theres no excuse for that. Misplaced Pages is not a race, it is not news, and there is no deadline, slow down and do the bare minimum that is required of you per policy and guidelines. Horse Eye's Back (talk) 15:26, 7 August 2021 (UTC)

I am getting very tired of being bashed by such users for updating articles and would appreciate any comments/opinions the users here in the Teahouse can give. I am not sure if what I am doing is wrong as everyone is doing it on all the olympics pages with NO citations. Thanks! Atom105 (talk) 16:07, 7 August 2021 (UTC)

@Atom105: In my opinion the advice you have been given is correct. Misplaced Pages is not a news station and there is no requirement to provide up-to-the minute updates, particularly without a source. You are welcome to add to articles, but only if you provide citations. As for what other editors are doing, this may be a case of WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS RudolfRed (talk) 17:06, 7 August 2021 (UTC)
Further, adding sources is not a "technicality", it is how information is verified, which is one of our key policies. See WP:V RudolfRed (talk) 17:12, 7 August 2021 (UTC)
Atom105, if "everyone" is doing it on Olympics articles (which I doubt), then they are wrong. You are being asked to do things correctly, and instead of being very tired of it, you should be grateful for the advice. Cullen Let's discuss it 19:27, 7 August 2021 (UTC)
I have read and understood what you both said and will follow.
@Cullen328:Just wish to do an addendum here that I am not lying when I say everyone is doing it. Please check the contributions pages for Japan, United States and Russia(ROC) as examples(FYI, The other countries pages are also the same). As a new wikipedian, my first exemplar will be to follow what other wikipedians here are doing. I have no idea that what they are doing(i.e. updating articles without citation) is incorrect. While I understand it now, I wish to add that I did all these with the best of intentions and no malice was intended nor did I intended to lie.
@RudolfRed: Also, after reading through WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS, they don't seem to apply to the olympic articles with regards to inputtingg raw scores which is what everyone is doing or adding medalist(Please see above country page history pages for what I mean). Is there another WP policy in play here? Atom105 (talk) 22:42, 7 August 2021 (UTC)
Atom105, in this context, "everyone" means 100% of the editors working on Olympic articles. Looking at your links, I see some editors reverting unreferenced content, so "everyone" is incorrect. Your exemplar should not be the behavior of over-enthusiastic fan editors during the Olympics. It should be our policies and guidelines, and the behavior of highly experienced editors over the years. I have contributed to the biographies of a few Olympic athletes, and I always provide references. So should you. The most relevant policy is Verifiability, a core content policy. Cullen Let's discuss it 23:00, 7 August 2021 (UTC)
@Cullen328: Yes I have always understood Misplaced Pages's requirement for Citation. I have also updated individual athlete's pages during the Olympics and those are done properly with Citation at the point of edit such as my entry on Teddy_Vlock. I just wanted to state that I was misled by the fan editors on the Olympics nation page for almost all countries hence the confusion and exasperation. Atom105 (talk) 23:17, 7 August 2021 (UTC)

Article in draft

I am trying to add a new wiki article, I am not being able to published that always showing me in draft why?? Pratikcr9 (talk) 16:37, 7 August 2021 (UTC)

@Pratikcr9: The "Publish" button means "Save". If you want to have your draft reviewed to become an article, you can place {{subst:submit}} on at the top of the draft. I suggest you read WP:YFA first, for guidance . RudolfRed (talk) 16:44, 7 August 2021 (UTC)

Editing query

Hey Misplaced Pages! To give you some background, my friends and I were working on a college sociology journal assignment/project these past few months and decided to submit new article drafts on the topics when doing our project which we found met a lot of Misplaced Pages's notability criteria but were lacking articles on Misplaced Pages. For some detailed context, you can read the history of our chat with one of the AfC reviewers of some of our drafts here: User_talk:Nomadicghumakkad#Hello!

TLDR; my friends decided to move on with working on our real life college project, as they felt our initiative on Misplaced Pages editing wasn't positively met. However, I am interested in editing and making contributions to Misplaced Pages and so I've made this account finally. I'm interested in the field of the city my Uni is in and where I stay presently (Pune) and the historical or current notable persons, organizations, events and such of this place (which my classmates and me, being a mix of sociology/history/economics/business majors, had decided to work on as a group initially, because we had access thru our uni library to those rare sources and inaccessible books about those topics of this city/state, with most unfortunately being in print and in Marathi).

I wanted to ask you experienced editors if it is ok for me to continue to do this now on my own or will that lead to a bias violation of some sort since I'm passionate about editing in such a relatively small niche? Of course, I hope to keep my submissions thorough, with good, reliable sources (happy to link you to one of our current draft submissions which I worked on in translating one of the sources to cite the article, to prove my point) and I have learned a lot about NPOV from some of our earlier drafts being declined for that reason and I have worked on solving that issue on all our drafts ever since.

As stated in our discussion linked above, my friends and I had no COI with the topics but it came across as such because we didn't paraphrase and summarize the sources properly (coming across as non-neutral), and also maybe because the sources were pretty similar in nature for the articles we began with because the topics of the articles themselves were so interconnected (given that we were interested in submitting biographies and organizations, which are quite tricky to get right on Misplaced Pages, as we have come to learn).

I'm super excited to get to work on these niche interests by myself with my new account, especially when I'm autoconfirmed so I don't burden the AfC backlog. But as stated in our discussion on the above reviewer's talk page, my friends and I (with me now editing alone) have absolutely no stake in any of these bios, orgs, events, personal histories etc. having Misplaced Pages entries. So I won't contribute further to this little passion project and am happy to abandon/delete the created/submitted drafts if in case I'm breaking any Misplaced Pages laws. Please guide me regarding these doubts. Thanks!

PS: I placed this query on the Help Desk instead of here by mistake, so I have moved it here now. AngryMushroom (talk) 17:50, 7 August 2021 (UTC)

AngryMushroom, I've tried to read the very long wall of text you've written but you lost me less than a 1/4 of the way in. Please, in 20 or fewer words, what is your question? Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 18:06, 7 August 2021 (UTC)
Hi Dodger67, so sorry about that. I wanted to ask if it's ok for me to continue contributing on a small niche of interests as long as I follow all the rules. Thanks. AngryMushroom (talk) 18:12, 7 August 2021 (UTC)
If anyone can look at my query in full, that would be very helpful. Thanks. AngryMushroom (talk) 18:14, 7 August 2021 (UTC)
@AngryMushroom Make sure to use inline citations (see WP:REFBEGIN if you haven't, WP:TUTORIAL is good too), be WP:BOLD and go for it. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 18:16, 7 August 2021 (UTC)
AngryMushroom. You can write articles about any notable topic as long as you comply with Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines. The very best advice that I can give you is to be concise. Cullen Let's discuss it 18:26, 7 August 2021 (UTC)
Thanks so much, Gråbergs Gråa Sång. Inline citations were thankfully easy to understand for the lot of us when we began, but the tutorials really helped for everything else. Since some of the submitted drafts were flagged for COI (which we clarified) and NPOV (completely our mistake), I merely didn't wish to violate any policies for writing on such niche topics (especially on the bios, orgs, etc. I've proposed) that have such rare, old, and mostly non-English sources unavailable outside of my city's libraries and unis. I'm excited to see what I can contribute alone. I shall be bold and proceed! Many thanks! AngryMushroom (talk) 18:30, 7 August 2021 (UTC)
Working on it, Cullen! Thanks. AngryMushroom (talk) 18:32, 7 August 2021 (UTC)

Actors Who Have Been Cast in Video Games

Over the years since video games are first invented, many actors and voice actors went on to voice many characters in various video games my by brands like Nintendo, PlayStation, Xbox, Atari and many others. In fact, I have recognized the voices from the characters. Those voice actors include:

If anyone sees this list, what can everyone think of the characters from the video games?  MetaWiz4331 (talk) 18:59, 7 August 2021 (UTC)

@MetaWiz4331: Welcome to Misplaced Pages. I am not clear on what your question is. If you are suggesting adding that info to an article, start a discussion on that article's talk page. RudolfRed (talk) 19:21, 7 August 2021 (UTC)
Or are you thinking about creating a list article? David notMD (talk) 20:51, 7 August 2021 (UTC)

What specifically I need to change in my article?

Hi dear Wiki experts,

First I would like to thank the user AngusWOOF for the kindness in the feedback but I need additional help, please.

- I've written an article about my family surname - https://en.wikipedia.org/Draft:Climaco_Family in which I have some formal academic evidence, e.g. the coat of arms issue by the "Cronista Rey de Armas" and some anecdotal, e.g. made by a third party Heraldry Institute, both referenced in my article.

I would like to know what exactly to change so I can have it published, please?

It is unrealistic to expect someone else will be interested in writing about my family if not a member of the family itself because we are not a celebrity family neither high royalty but simply a Spanish family which has some knighthood roots, hence the coat of arms and I would like to have that published in the Misplaced Pages for public consulting.

Many thanks, Pedro Pclimaco87 (talk) 19:54, 7 August 2021 (UTC)

For Draft:Climaco Family, you should declare a conflict on interest, given that this is your family surname (although you do not appear to have stated that you are part of this genealogy). You have submitted it, and are waiting on a review. Much of the content, including the coat of arms symbols, is not referenced. David notMD (talk) 20:54, 7 August 2021 (UTC)
Hello, Pclimaco87. Your draft only has two references. One is to a commercial website that sells heraldry related coats of arms and documents. Such a website is worthless for establishing notability. You need to provide references to multiple, independent reliable sources that devote significant attention to your surname. Make sure that every assertion in your draft is backed up by a solid reference. Cullen Let's discuss it 01:01, 8 August 2021 (UTC)

Alexander Borovsky, pianist (1889-1968) graduated from the Gymnasium as did his sister Elena (who was awarded Lenin prize)

see htttp://alexanderkborovsky.blogspot.com for confirmation of this. I have several letters from Elena confirming this. Thank you. Bill Muspianojones (talk) 20:31, 7 August 2021 (UTC)

Guessing this relates to Alexander Borovsky. What do you want changed in the article? Letters (assuming unpublished?) can not be accepted as reliable source references. David notMD (talk) 20:59, 7 August 2021 (UTC)

PD-Guyana

Why the copyright tag Template:PD-Guyana at the Commons, doesn't work here on Misplaced Pages? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Peter Ormond (talkcontribs) 21:12, 7 August 2021 (UTC)

@Peter Ormond: Because that template is relevant only to Commons. If something is public domain, it should be on Commons anyway. ~Anachronist (talk) 23:39, 7 August 2021 (UTC)
@Peter Ormond Welcome to the Teahouse. Because Wikimedia Commons and English Misplaced Pages are two completely different projects, and have their own set of templates, it is not surprising that trying to apply a template from one project in another one would not be successful. If you'd care to explain what it is that you're trying to achieve, it's possible that we might be able to offer further advice and a better template to use. Thanks. What guidelines, if any, is this sentence violating?

Ran across this sentence in an article:

"This fact is often overlooked by media or intentionally kept hidden."

This feels wrong, but I'm not certain. If this phrasing is violating guidelines, what guidelines is it violating? The citation goes to an unviewable source.

Thanks! Pyrrho the Skeptic (talk) 22:07, 7 August 2021 (UTC)

That sentence is not in any Misplaced Pages article. You quote part of a sentence that is found in Alternative medicine, where it is sourced and contextualised. Context is everything. --bonadea contributions talk 22:17, 7 August 2021 (UTC)
Thanks for your response. So you are saying with confidence that it's okay to say something is "intentionally kept hidden by the media", without defining what "media" is referring to, and without being able to access the source that supposedly says that? Pyrrho the Skeptic (talk) 22:22, 7 August 2021 (UTC)
Without context (which you have not provided) the sentence contains a weasel word ("often"), a vague undefined term ("media") and a suggestion of a conspiracy theory ("intentionally kept hidden" by mysterious unidentified entities). By itself, it wouldn't be acceptable to present in Misplaced Pages's narrative voice. With context, it may be a different story. Provide the context including sources and you may get a better answer. ~Anachronist (talk) 23:32, 7 August 2021 (UTC)
I found the sentence in alternative medicine and modified it. ~Anachronist (talk) 23:35, 7 August 2021 (UTC)
Thank you. I'm glad I'm not crazy. I apologize for not providing the context, but thank you for following up with my question. Pyrrho the Skeptic (talk) 23:45, 7 August 2021 (UTC)

Can anyone help me with the errors on my upload?

I'm getting errors about me uploading my own Bio. Is this not accepted? How do I get my Bio and submission approved? Facebook links have been flagged, can you help explain an alternative? Thanks in advance

You shouldn't be writing an encyclopaedia article about yourself.A little blue Bori v^_^v 22:56, 7 August 2021 (UTC)
@User:DonGeeMusic: Welcome to the Teahouse. Misplaced Pages is not a place to promote yourself. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 22:58, 7 August 2021 (UTC)
Ok, So how would I appear on Wiki?
Who writes the correct information?
Ani I'm not trying to promote myself, we are trying to add Don Gee's Bio Information to the system.
All we ask for is guidance in taking the proper steps.— Preceding unsigned comment added by DonGeeMusic (talkcontribs) 23:30, 7 August 2021 (UTC)
Multiple volunteers don't need to be prompted or paid; they'll spontaneously write about people they've never met who are genuinely noteworthy. So just sit back and wait. (Why the rush?) -- Hoary (talk) 23:23, 7 August 2021 (UTC)
DonGeeMusic (ec) Misplaced Pages is not a place for musicians or people in general to merely post their biographical information; that is what social media is for. Misplaced Pages is an encyclopedia, and as an encyclopedia Misplaced Pages summarizes what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about(in this case) a musician, showing how they meet the special Misplaced Pages definition of a notable musician. To put it another way, Misplaced Pages is interested in what others completely unaffiliated with you choose to say about you, not what you want to say about yourself. As noted, autobiographical articles(which includes if you represent Don Gee) are strongly discouraged, as people naturally write favorably about themselves. The best way for you to "appear on wiki" is to allow independent editors to take note of your career in reliable sources and choose on their own to write about you. Be aware that a Misplaced Pages article is not necessarily desirable; there are good reasons to not want one. 331dot (talk) 23:26, 7 August 2021 (UTC)
You ask, who writes it? Someone else who believes you are notable and preferably has no conflict of interest with the subject. The "correct information" is whatever appears in verifiable, reliable, and independent (that is, not written by you) sources. Facebook is never an acceptable source.
Who is "we" you are referring to? Are you Don Gee or someone else? Who exactly has access to your account?
And also please answer, exactly what criteria in WP:MUSICBIO does Don Gee meet to merit an article on Misplaced Pages? ~Anachronist (talk) 23:27, 7 August 2021 (UTC)
Thanks for the information.— Preceding unsigned comment added by DonGeeMusic (talkcontribs) 23:30, 7 August 2021 (UTC)

Article not appearing on google

Hi,

The page here https://en.wikipedia.org/Yonov_Frederick_Agah does not show up on google searches. When it was first created, it showed up as the first result on google, however, now it does not - what could be the issue? Thank you, Terfreagah (talk) 23:55, 7 August 2021 (UTC)

Or, rephrased: Misplaced Pages isn't Google's puppetmaster. Instead, Google follows its own algorithms for such purposes. -- Hoary (talk) 01:48, 8 August 2021 (UTC)
A) I just entered "Yonov Frederick Agah" at Google and it DID show the Misplaced Pages article. B) Misplaced Pages has no control over what Google does or does not do. David notMD (talk) 02:31, 8 August 2021 (UTC)
It might have been marked reviewed by someone, probably by accident, and picked up by google. But it's unreviewed right now. So, it should disappear from the results once google updates and syncs all servers, provided it doesn't get reviewed again. Usedtobecool ☎️ 03:14, 8 August 2021 (UTC)

Creating New Articles

Why can't I create a new page on English Misplaced Pages, even though I'm already logged in? Dan Earth (talk) 00:00, 8 August 2021 (UTC)

Probably because you're new. How about returning to your creation Draft:Akademi Sahur Asia (season 3), improving it, and submitting it as a candidate to be an article? -- Hoary (talk) 01:45, 8 August 2021 (UTC)

If after being fixed, how do I submit it as a candidate to be an article? Dan Earth (talk) 01:55, 8 August 2021 (UTC)

Dan Earth, I've added "{{subst:AfC draft|Dan Earth}}" to the draft. When you're confident about it, click on "Submit the draft for review!". -- Hoary (talk) 02:55, 8 August 2021 (UTC)

To merge or not to merge

I'm considering merging Enhanced podcast into Podcast and wanted some input. I think Enhanced podcast passes WP:N and could continue to exist as a stand-alone article, but WP:MERGEREASON suggests that smaller topics should sometimes be merged into broader parent topics and I don't think the article will ever be much bigger than a stub. I didn't open a merge discussion because the article and the podcasting wikiproject get so little traffic that I don't think I would've gotten any input.

I was also curious what other editors thought of the sources. A lot of them seem to be promoting software used to create enhanced podcasts. Does that make those sources unreliable or non-independent because they have a vested interest in the use of the medium? Should those sources be removed or should the conflict of interest be mentioned in the article itself? TipsyElephant (talk) 02:37, 8 August 2021 (UTC)

What I think of the sources? WP:REFBOMB, for one thing. As for your main question, I suggest that you ask at Talk:Podcast. -- Hoary (talk) 04:25, 8 August 2021 (UTC)

Is it possible to bring articles from other language Wikipedias here?

Would there be any issues with copyright if I take an article from a different language Misplaced Pages (that does not yet exist here), translate it into English, and then add it to the English Misplaced Pages? Since the text would not be originally written by me but instead translated from text that was written by multiple editors on the source Wiki, how can I properly attribute that? Additionally, is it alright if the sources, even if reliable, are in another language/the language of the source, or does at least one/a few have to be in English since this is the English Misplaced Pages? Thank you - Normal Name (talk) 02:40, 8 August 2021 (UTC)

Thank you for asking a good question. Yes, there are copyright issues, and there are other issues besides. Please see Help:Translation for relevant warnings and suggestions. No, there's no requirement that any source should be in English. -- Hoary (talk) 03:04, 8 August 2021 (UTC)

Possibility of becoming an administrator

Based on my previous contributions and my conduct, how likely would I succeed making a request for Adminship, I thought I'd ask this here before making a request, I was blocked 1 month ago, but I believe I have learned from it and become much better, I'm reverting and removing alot of vandalism through the recent changes section as well as warning and reporting where necessary. StarryNightSky11 02:52, 8 August 2021 (UTC)

@StarryNightSky11: Could you fix your signature please, your user link goes to StarryNightSky11 instead of User:StarryNightSky11. Cheers! ~TNT (she/they • talk) 02:57, 8 August 2021 (UTC)
@StarryNightSky11: (edit conflict) To respond to your question though - at the moment, you would not pass a request for adminship. The requirements for adminship on the English Misplaced Pages are very high (some might say too high, but this certainly isn't the venue for that discussion). You will need to be an active and constructive member of the community for a good year or two before revisiting this idea Your block, while something which may be brought up, is likely to be overlooked if you have a couple of years under your belt of being helpful, friendly and constructive ~TNT (she/they • talk) 03:01, 8 August 2021 (UTC)
Unlikely. I suggest that you don't apply till a full year has passed after any block. -- Hoary (talk) 02:59, 8 August 2021 (UTC)
I wish you well, StarryNightSky11, but remember that success in this isn't merely a function of (i) whether/when one did something stupid oneself, and (ii) how vigorous one has been in reverting/combatting others' stupidities. Among other strengths, you really need a good understanding of Misplaced Pages or at least an awareness of the limits to your understanding. Here's a recent edit summary of yours: "infobox added, all other articles about real people have one so why shouldn't this". Not true: Plenty of articles about real people don't have one. And the reason isn't just editorial laziness. As just one example, Adolfo Farsari is a featured article about a real person that doesn't have one. (And, in my view, the lack of an infobox in that article is a good thing, though this is hardly the place for a discussion about the desirability of biographical infoboxes.) -- Hoary (talk) 03:18, 8 August 2021 (UTC)
(edit conflict) @Hoary and TheresNoTime: Thanks for the advice, very helpful. Also I've now fixed my signature hadn't even realised it had an issue. Best StarryNightSky11 03:21, 8 August 2021 (UTC)
@StarryNightSky11: No worries Give me a ping in a month or so if you'd be interested in having rollback rights to help with anti-vandalism. Just remember, there are simple ways to react to content disagreements, and try not to let things get to you too much ~TNT (she/they • talk) 03:28, 8 August 2021 (UTC)
