Indio High School is a public high school for grades 9-12. It is located in Indio, California and has a current enrollment of about 2,375. The school is part of the Desert Sands Unified School District. Indio High School has one of the largest student pupil populations of any California high school. It once had a 60-square mile school boundary area until 1985, but still serves all of Indio, as well parts of La Quinta and accepts intradistrict waivers for Coachella residents. About 75% of the student body is Latino, a large proportion are children of immigrant families, along with third- or fourth-generation Mexican-Americans whose parents and grandparents attended IHS.
History
Indio High School was founded in 1958. The school newspaper is called Sandscripts. School graduates continuing their education at college has recently improved to 75 percent in 2006, up from just 23 percent in 1995 . It was the only high school for DSUSD students in the 9th to 12th grade level, until Palm Desert High School opened its doors in 1985/86 and then La Quinta High School in 1994/95 which has a large share of Indio residents who can attend there by school district policy.

ASB
The Associated Student Body of Indio High school is in charge of planning various activities throughout the school year, including: Dances, Pep-Rallies, Blood Drives, Toy/Food/Money Drives for charities, lunchtime activities, monthly school-wide competitions, working in the school's student store, as well as helping other clubs/programs and faculty coordinate other activities. The ASB class also gives presentations to DSUSD board members and to incoming Freshmen. Michael Espinoza is the ASB Treasurer, Cameron Burbank is the Senior Class Secretary, Justin Mendez is Senior Vice-President, Antonio Machado is the Senior Class Treasurer, and Oscar Ortiz serves on the Board of Liaison. Juan (Tito) Duran, Sergio Hernandez and Michael Suave are Honorary ASB Member, for their excellent volunteer work!
Athletics
Indio High School is in the Desert Valley League which includes Cathedral City, Coachella Valley, Indio, La Quinta, Palm Desert and Palm Springs.

Indio High School has been referred to in song. The Desert Session's song "Winners" contains an audio sample of a man reading out the names from Indio High School. Whether the names from the audio sample are real is unknown.
