Who the f*** allowed you to remove my reference? My sources are always good. Ayman al-Zawahiri also holds several degrees. Don't edit my stuff again or I'm gonna be unfriendly. --KingOneBozz (talk) 11:16, 14 June 2014 (UTC)

P123cat1 you claimed there's no references but you obviously did not look. Goblin Face (talk) 01:25, 15 February 2014 (UTC)

Explaining

I patrolled your page. I went through the enormously-backlogged list of newly-created pages and confirmed that your page was okay: not spam, not an attack page, not a copyright violation, not any of the other reasons for which I would delete someone's page without asking. Then I clicked "patrolled" to remove it from the list of "pages that have not yet been patrolled", and moved on to the next entry. That's all. DS (talk) 13:16, 5 March 2014 (UTC)

A big red outline is an excellent idea. I've only had the notice up for a few days, though; most of the "Why did you do that" messages pre-date it. DS (talk) 13:50, 5 March 2014 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for April 1

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Misplaced Pages appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Gary Olsen, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Gimme Gimme Gimme, Party Party and Prospects (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Help desk question

Just an FYI: When asking a question about a specific article(s) on the Help Desk or other talk sort of page, it's nice to put in a link to the article that you're referring to. That way people don't have to scroll back up to the top of the page where the search box is and go looking for the article(s). They can simply click the link, or right-click and open it in a new tab. Nicki Minaj videography

Hi, I am currently in the nomination process of getting Nicki Minaj videography up to featured list status. I was wondering whether you could take a look and possibly leave your thoughts/opposition/support for the nomination and leave any suggestions you may have to improve it. From your user page is also see that you like to copyedit and fix footnotes exc. So if you could possibly take a look at those factors also, it would be a great help. Thanks :) Misplaced Pages:Featured list candidates/Nicki Minaj videography/archive1

copy editing

Hi P123ct1

I note that you have been copy editing our Illuminati article... thanks. Just one word of caution: I note that you have been changing US spellings to UK spellings (example organization --> organisation). In case you didn't know, normal Misplaced Pages practice is that whoever first writes an article gets to determine whether to use US or UK spelling ... and unless the article has a distinct UK or US focus we shouldn't change it (see WP:ENGVAR).
I don't expect anyone who works on the Illuminati article will really care one way or the other (we have more important things to argue about), but know that people at other articles do care, and they get upset when someone "fixes" US to UK spelling (or UK to US spelling)... so, I suggest that you avoid "fixing" spellings unless there is a good reason (and if so, discuss it on the talk page first). Most importantly, if someone reverts your spelling "fixes", don't edit war over it. Blueboar (talk) 13:40, 1 June 2014 (UTC)

No need to revert yourself (although it looks like I'm too late in saying that)... as I said, I don't think anyone really cares whether the spelling is UK or US in that article (one is as valid as the other since the topic is neither US or UK focused). I really just wanted to ensure that you were aware of common practice, so you didn't piss someone off in some other article.
Your other edits to Illuminati have been excellent. Thanks for improving the article. Blueboar (talk) 21:25, 1 June 2014 (UTC)

Ideology and beliefs

Hey! Thanks for the Barnstar. I've got a suggestion for ISIS article:

Sources

By adding "it was reported", a writer is implying that the statement is not verified as a fact. This is fair enough, identifying who reported something in the text of the article makes it easy for the reader to evaluate the trustworthiness of the statement for her or himself without having to refer to the footnotes. I place a different weight on the credibility of The Economist than I do on that of The Kurdistan Times, both of which are used as references in this article. Regards, Ground Zero | t 00:58, 8 July 2014 (UTC)

  • I don't think "governorates" needs to be capitalized. It like "American states" or Canadian provinces" or "English cities". These words are not proper nouns in these contexts. Ground Zero | t 01:17, 8 July 2014 (UTC)

Don't get disheartened. The beauty of Misplaced Pages is that anyone can edit it. The tragedy of Misplaced Pages is that anyone can edit it. As with any groupsourced project, it becomes more successful as more reasonable people work on it. If it becomes dominated by a few who seek to promote agendas, then people will stop reading it. In this edit, User:Gazkthul seems to have reverted to an earlier version, wiping out the work of you and others. Given how many people will be reading this very topical article these days, it will require and deserve extra vigilance. Regards, Ground Zero | t 02:06, 8 July 2014 (UTC)

Hmm, i'm not sure what happened on that edit, I was only trying to change the Ideology & Belief section. No harm intended. Gazkthul (talk) 04:00, 8 July 2014 (UTC)

I mentioned you, because I wanted you to back me up against vandalism. Your removing of "even" is right and thanks for that. But some one is deliberately omitting some of the sections. he has warned to deleted the entire "Treatment of civilians". He has reverted "sexual violence" section three times, once against me and two times against other users. He can at most add his findings, not removing all of the as he likes!. I think he should be warned for involving war editing. just look at his reversions and editions. Mhhossein (talk) 10:34, 10 July 2014 (UTC)

We noticed though that when you edited Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page SITE. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

A barnstar for you!

The Copyeditor's Barnstar
I'm amazed at your tireless work on articles relating to civil was in Syria and Iraq. Keep it up! Technophant (talk) 11:49, 17 July 2014 (UTC)

@Technophant: Thanks very much! It's just that I have a lot of time on my hands at the moment. Also, it's a fascinating topic! --P123ct1 (talk) 12:04, 17 July 2014 (UTC)
Either way, good job. - Technophant (talk) 01:47, 25 July 2014 (UTC)

Your input is requested

While I've had nothing but good interactions on Iraq related articles, I've had major problems trying to get recent research regarding acupuncture theory incorporated in acupuncture, referred itch, and myofascial meridians. There's an Rfc at the myofascial talk page. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated. - Technophant (talk) 18:17, 20 July 2014 (UTC)

Email as a source

I noticed you were discussing this. We wouldn't accept an email as sources need to be reliably published, see WP:RS. Dougweller (talk) 15:37, 21 July 2014 (UTC)

Reflink

Following the message you left at my talk page, I checked the discussion on Reflink but I didn't understand whether it's finally shut down or not! Why is it accessible if it's removed? Mhhossein (talk) 11:15, 26 July 2014 (UTC)

Editing archived pages

I just noticed that you edited an archived page. That's not allowed, unless it's some type of archive page maintenance. I'm sure this was accidental, so just keep up the good work in other areas. -- Brangifer (talk) 18:28, 26 July 2014 (UTC)

This page has a "user contribution" menu in the "tools" menu on the left. There you can specify the month, year and type of pages.

recent post about footnotes

Looked like the right page to me. I was going to reply and it vanished! Dougweller (talk) 10:24, 31 July 2014 (UTC)

Terrorist

Responding here. I know you haven't. He once again has said he won't edit the article anymore after I pointed out on his talk page that 1RR is not a right and he is editing against consensus. I don't think he's happy. Dougweller (talk) 21:07, 1 August 2014 (UTC)

"Cut my head off is slang". To see it as racist shows a lack of good faith. And of course " Your two-faced underhanded statement(s) about me are racist" is a personal attack. There are times however when good faith doesn't have to be extended - and if an editor continually fails to show good faith towards other editors, that editor may not merit good faith being extended to them. But you have shown nothing but good faith towards other editors. Dougweller (talk) 10:15, 2 August 2014 (UTC)
I agree with your comment. Some people are best ignored. You might want to read User talk:Dougweller#Thanks also. Dougweller (talk) 10:47, 2 August 2014 (UTC)

I think the problem started with the word "terrorist" in the lead being too strong and flouting WP:NPOV. Although the organization is considered terrorist, we don't use it as an adjective. Supersaiyen312 (talk) 13:55, 2 August 2014 (UTC)

@Supersaiyen312: You are quite right, it did, and indeed that was the reason. Have you read the long discussion about it on the Talk page? I tried to explain why NPOV was important, but it was hard to get the message across. Dougweller has now reverted the last insertion of "terrorist" as I didn't want to edit-war! We can only say that ISIS is a terrorist organisation by saying that it is designated as such by governments and called that by media sources - in other words, we cannot say it directly. We need some foreign overseas media sources for the footnotes at the end of that sentence, so if you can find any, it would be a great help! We don't want more than five footnotes in all, and can swap some of the US and UK ones for a couple of foreignoverseas ones. I am not quite sure what Dougweller meant by "foreign""overseas" (he suggested this on the Talk page), but I presume he meant just non-US and non-UK. If you can find some (I found the others), just put them on the Talk page and we can decide which of them to put in. --P123ct1 (talk) 14:16, 2 August 2014 (UTC)
@Supersaiyen312: And thanks for that note you put on the Talk page just now (which I have just read). It is very useful to have that stated clearly for readers, to give them the context of that long discussion. --P123ct1 (talk) 14:23, 2 August 2014 (UTC)

Referred to you

but not by name at Misplaced Pages talk:WikiProject Editor Retention#Despair - I hope you don't mind. I certainly wasn't thinking of him when I started that section, but his behavior and name-calling is the sort of thing that does drive editors away, although he obviously sees it differently. He certainly should have have reinstated that post to his talk page that you wrote and then decided to remove. Dougweller (talk) 15:46, 2 August 2014 (UTC) (I think he means "shouldn't" P123ct1)

Removing an edit you made from someone else's talk page

I think that's ok, especially when no one has replied, but raised it at Misplaced Pages talk:User pages#Guidance on editors reinstating a post added & then removed by another because I'd like something added to our guidance. Dougweller (talk) 14:10, 3 August 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for your response. It's all there in the history of course, so any other Admin or in fact any editor can see it. I noticed what he reverted. Doesn't matter. Dougweller (talk) 15:11, 3 August 2014 (UTC)

Done!

A kitten for you!

Thank you for taking the time to defend your friends. You seem like a kind person and you deserve recognition. (I've been following the Technophant case.)

Our friend

Given his edit summary calling you a stalker, shall I take him to ANI? I wouldn't want to do this if you'd prefer me not to or don't intend to participate if I do. Dougweller (talk) 10:26, 7 August 2014 (UTC)

Name

I'll start an RfC shortly. Using 'the' would be very unusual, by the way, unless we can show that most reliable English language sources use it. All this translation or transliteration stuff is really irrelevant as we go by reliable English language sources, not our interpretations of the Arabic. Dougweller (talk) 08:19, 8 August 2014 (UTC)

Islamic state article

Careful with your edits, I see Worldedixor has obviously broken 1RR. His post to the talk page is a bit odd, no? Dougweller (talk) 10:36, 10 August 2014 (UTC)

@Dougweller: It is very odd. I'm not sure who that was referring to or why. There was no need to alter anything after his revert as he made some other changes afterwards and everything reads okay now. In fact, he did three good edits subsequently, I thought, one quote correction, a new footnote and brief expansion of an earlier entry in the 2014 timeline. The expansion added the word "genocide" (5th August entry), which wasn't actually in the citation, but it is what was meant. (I don't remember anything being deleted there as he notes.) Do you think it is all right to use "genocide" if not in a citation, or is it one of those loaded words again? And would it be appropriate to remind editors on the Talk page to do their citations properly? Nearly every other foonote has been a bare URL lately! --P123ct1 (talk) 12:12, 10 August 2014 (UTC)
It is definitely a word we should only use with sources - like terrorists. Even if we agree it's correct. These bare urls are a pain, maybe notify any editor who adds one? Dougweller (talk) 13:18, 10 August 2014 (UTC)
@Dougweller: I will have to leave reverting "genocide" which is not in the citation (except briefly highlighted in a snippet from a Tweet at the bottom of the article) until tomorrow, as I don't want to break the 1RR! --P123ct1 (talk) 13:39, 10 August 2014 (UTC)
I'm baaaack! I've also added my support for merger of Yazidi persecution by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant for the time being. - Technophant (talk) 20:29, 10 August 2014 (UTC)
