Strikes

The 2014 India-Pakistan border skirmish started when one Border Security Force (BSF) solider was killed during the firing exchange between the Border Security Force and Pakistan Army along the international border in Jammu District on 16 July 2014. Approval given by Indian Home Minister Rajnath Singh, the BSF took active actions to reply to unprovoked firing from Pakistan along the border. Further reports indicated that Indian troops resorted to precision firing in which 8 people including LeT Mujahideen have been killed in Pakistan and many injured in the firings that began on August 16 this year along LoC.

"Ever since mid-August ceasefire violations, we have gone on complete offensive, firing both guns and area weapons. We are thrice in strength of Pakistan Rangers and thus have as many weapons. This has resulted in heavy casualties on the other side even though Pakistan Rangers are being supported by their Army and terrorists. We will continue to retaliate fiercely until Pakistan stops firing," said a senior BSF officer. Extending ceasefire violations to Samba district, Pakistani troops heavily shelled and fired upon 40 Border Out Posts(BoPs) and 24 villages along the International Border in Jammu and Samba districts, leaving three persons injured. This is the first time that Pakistani Rangers have extended the ceasefire violation to Samba district.

On October 6 Indian and Pakistan security forces have traded fire along their troubled frontier, leaving nine civilians dead, officials said.Inspector general of the Indian border security forces, Rakesh Kumar, said Pakistani forces shelled the village of Arnia on Monday, about 3 kilometres inside India's border, killing six and wounding at least 64 civilians. A Pakistani military statement said four civilians including two children were killed near Sialkot, bordering the Indian state of Punjab. Military officials said Pakistan's army separately attacked 10 Indian army posts. Another Indian officer, Lieutenant-Colonel Brijesh Panday, said the army later shot dead three Pakistani-based militants trying to cross into India further along the heavily militarised line of control. The latest round of mortar and gunfire began on Friday 3 October when India's army said it responded to "unprovoked firing" from the Pakistani side. Indian defence minister Arun Jaitley said the army would retaliate to the latest violence.
