Mimamsa Sutra

sorry man, i cant help you here. I didnt even edited mimamsa. i have just a brief knowledge of that school and wiki already has a better article than my knowledge.--nids(♂) 16:26, 26 August 2006 (UTC)

West Bengal

Thought it could be made into a Featured Article. See other featured articles on Indian states (Kerala, Goa, Sikkim). And also see recent changes made to West Bengal. It is not a difficult job, with great guidelines in Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Indian states. I upgraded History, Government and Politics, Demographics lately. Will take time though. Rubbish in Dalit Voice and V.T. Rajshekar

Hi. Could you monitor these articles (I am too). I think they contain a lot of nonsense. I have tried to fix them up with NPOV and some references of the anti-Hindu orgs but, in case they are reverted by the editors...

Mughalstan

You have created an empty article Mughalstan, although there is already an article call Mughalistan. I will redirect your article to that page. Thank you --Mar de Sin 22:15, 27 August 2006 (UTC)

Sorry about that. But I have another concern that the first link on the page does seem to exist. Mar de Sin 22:24, 27 August 2006 (UTC)
I search the link on google, and it came with a cache which supports the statement- so I guess the link's fine. Mar de Sin 22:30, 27 August 2006 (UTC)

Temple of King Kangsa Narayan

Do you have more information about the temple? Unfortunately, Banglapedia doesn't list any ... I was wondering if you had any more info. I'll write to people from the region that I know if they have pictures of the temple.

You might also look into Dhakeshwari Temple and Kantaji Temple articles. I've managed to get free-licensed pictures of the first, but not of the 2nd. Also, both articles could do some expansion / enhancement as well. Since you are interested in this area, please go ahead. --Ragib 16:49, 28 August 2006 (UTC)

I found some great photos of the temple (also called Kantanagar temple) at Flickr , but the photos are copyrighted. I've mailed the photographer for permission under Creative commons or other usable licenses. Please look up other freely usable sources too. Thanks. --Ragib 04:16, 29 August 2006 (UTC)

What I wanted to bring to the notice of discussants that before RigVeda was put in text, it had a long oral tradition. Quite mundane. Aupmanyav 17:41, 28 August 2006 (UTC)

Dalitstan

Calling an organization "Anti-Hindu" on the first sentence only would work if the organization claims itself anti-Hindu. Dalitstan is more pro-Dalit than anything else, and saying its anti-Hindu right on the first sentence is something you need direct proof for. Until you give citations for it, I'm reverting. Mar de Sin 21:01, 28 August 2006 (UTC)

Then I'm gonna edit it to say that is is associated with anti-Hindu organizations, and put the main tag as anti-Brahmin, which I think you would agree is more appropriate.Mar de Sin 21:05, 28 August 2006 (UTC)
See if my edits are OK. Mar de Sin 21:07, 28 August 2006 (UTC)
Thanks. If possible, give links to the blocked pages evidence, since citation will prove the point better. Mar de Sin 21:11, 28 August 2006 (UTC)

User:TerryJ-Ho & possible defamation

I believe user terryJ-Ho may have engaged in defamation of RSS without unrefuted evidence.

Here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/search/?title=Talk%3ARashtriya_Swayamsevak_Sangh&diff=72466320&oldid=72094707

I warned him for what I believed was defamation:

http://en.wikipedia.org/search/?title=User_talk%3ATerryJ-Ho&diff=72388411&oldid=72368862

He deleted the request. Then he further engaged in defamatory attacks here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/search/?title=Talk%3ARashtriya_Swayamsevak_Sangh&diff=72466320&oldid=72368617

While whether this is defamation or not is questionable, can we at least follow procedure to let an admin discuss the matter? I am rather new to wikipedia so don;t know what to do. You seem like a veteran user. Can you plz advise in my talk page? Thank you very much.Hkelkar 21:29, 28 August 2006 (UTC)

Please can you take this case further TerryJ-Ho 18:38, 29 August 2006 (UTC)

Sock accusations

Thank you for letting me know.

For what it's worth, the reason I suspected that RSudarshan was a sockpuppet of Subhash bose is that his third edit ever is a message on my Talk Page identical in wording to a message that Subhash bose left on the Talk Pages of two other editors. That particular mystery remains unsolved.

But unlike them, you've been reasonable, so I figured I'd give you an explanation.

However, let Subhash bose know that if he continues to casually throw around inflammatory accusations like "White Nationalist," "Fundamentalist Muslim," "Marxist," or "racist"—especially when the only provocation is being asked to produce a source—then my characterization of HIM will be proven and MY actions will be justified.

If someone is cool with me, like you've been, I'll be cool with him. End of story.
But your little pal Neta? If he didn't get blocked for sockpuppetry—even if it didn't turn out to be true and at the time I sincerely believed it was—then he was going to get nailed for incivility or something else. If this is how he's always behaved, then I'm sure he has a list of infractions a mile long, any one of which he could have been blocked for.
btw, re: Chanakya? That Thomas Trautmann book? I highly recommend it. He goes through all of the primary sources for the Chanakya legend and makes the differences between them pretty clear.

Leh

Bak,I was not in 'anyway' trying to protect leh from "missionaries' ; the only point of contention was about the inclusion of number of families of a single community.Btw, Mr.tan edited it out himself, and now for the time being it looks ok. Bharatveer 04:09, 29 August 2006 (UTC)

What do you think of the Christian missionary paragraph? I can't really why the number of christian families is POV, just because the number of families of Buddhists and Muslims and not being included. I can't read anywhere Misplaced Pages:NPOV that this is against the rule. Could you analyse why, if possible? Thanks. Mr Tan 12:34, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
You might want to see Bharatveer's talk page on the source you are asking for; I have posted the same answers on this discussion. To sum up, my source is obtained from the lonely planet travel guide I have cited in the further reading section. Do you think I should include the number of Christian families in Leh, which Bharatreever opposes? As I have asked, I can't determine where I have violated NPOV's policy just because the number of families of Buddhists and Muslims and not being included. Do you have any suggestions, if otherwise? Thanks. Mr Tan 16:35, 31 August 2006 (UTC)

Hi.I may need some help fending off Holywarriror in the Kancha Ilaiah article as he seems to have gone on a rampage, questioning sources etc with no merit. I believe he may start another reverting spree.Hkelkar 11:09, 29 August 2006 (UTC)

Chanakya

Trautmann isn't one of those 19th century scholars who shoehorn everything into a biblical timeline.

In fact, he's still alive and the book I'm referring to was published in 1971.

In any case, there are so many different versions of the Chanakya story that it would be disingenuous to present only one and not acknowledge the others.

{{Infobox Mandir}}

I've given it a touch-up. I've also provided the new usage alongside. Check the Vadakkunnathan Temple article for a preview. Feel free to change the colour. I just chose one at random. Cheers!-- thunderboltz 06:19, 30 August 2006 (UTC)

Perhaps the orange color, showing up in Hinduism templates can be used? --Ragib 06:25, 30 August 2006 (UTC)
Okay, I changed it to orange. -- thunderboltz 06:31, 30 August 2006 (UTC)

Remarks

  • Please do not leave warning templates on people's talkpages accusing them of vandalism when they have clearly justified their edits. That is not an appropriate way to disagree with content.
  • Please tone down your level of aggression, it is clearly excessive.

Thanks. Hornplease 07:52, 30 August 2006 (UTC)

Kantaji temple

I looked at the quoted/commented out text, but it is always better to write it in your own words (I'm sure you can do that). The temple is simply awesome (have you looked at the flickr link?). I mean, Dhakeshwari may be the nationally known temple, but Kantanagar temple beats any other in bd in terms of beauty. So, please do a google search, and perhaps add some more info from sources other than banglapedia. I'm now expanding the corresponding article in Bangla wikipedia, and am looking for a free-licensed photo. Thanks --Ragib 17:38, 30 August 2006 (UTC)

dab

Yes, I have had prior discussions with dab. It is unnecessary to mention the nationality, culture or religion of editors when discussing edits. To gratuitously mention such attributes of editors in the course of criticizing edits has all the appearances of being an insult to those of the mentioned nationality, culture or religion -- it has the appearance of an insinuation that faults an editor may have are somehow related to that editor's nationality, culture or religion. Whether an insult was intended or not, civility dictates avoiding mentioning such attributes. At least that is my opinion... --BostonMA 21:17, 30 August 2006 (UTC)

Sakta Pithas and other places

Hey, I thought you'd be interested in writing about the Sakta Pithas of Bengal, and Bangladesh. More information can be found here. I don't know much about the Shakta religious rituals and pithas, so perhaps you can add more, or ask others in WP Hinduism to help out there.

Also, there is a place called Langalbandh in Bangladesh which attracts the largest snaan's of Hindu devotees in Bangladesh. More info on that here. Perhaps an article is due ... I've started it, but you can help in expanding it with info from other sources.

Sitakunda (in Chittagong) is another place. I don't know much about the mythology, but it seems like the naming has something to do with Sita. Of course, that'd be interesting, because Chittagong has a large Hindu population, but also a very large Buddhist population, and was one of the last bastions of Buddhism in the Subcontinent until the resurgence of the last century.

Hinduism in Bangladesh definitely has a long history. Too bad most people are ignoring that, and focusing on writing only about the recent negative events. So, if you have time, please help out forming these articles.

Thanks. --Ragib 17:46, 31 August 2006 (UTC)

I've added a link to a conference paper, you'd find a lot of info inside it. Besides, this is the most credible reference added to the article so far ... academic papers hold more weight than websites. --Ragib 18:19, 31 August 2006 (UTC)

Hmmm, it turns out that there is already an article called Shakti Peethas, which has more information, but not the references. You can redir this one to Shakti Peethas, and copy the references there. Thanks. --Ragib 18:23, 31 August 2006 (UTC)

Muang Tum (and boxen)

Hi, I'll try to get around to doing something on Muang Tum soon. I'm afraid I'm not a fan of the box- it's a bit ugly, and most of the Khmer temples have rather complex histories involving both Hinduism and Buddhism, which don't really fit into simple box categories. Henry 19:22, 31 August 2006 (UTC)

Several issues. Temples such as the Bayon were remodelled several times over a long period, so to state one 'creator' or date is misleading. 'Primary deities' changed with each change of use, often several times (and in any case, Buddha is not a deity). And the orange colour associates the boxen with the other Hinduism boxen, which is hardly appropriate for the substantially Buddhist temples (and it's ugly). Henry 19:35, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
1. I don't see the relevance, but since the sites had been inhabited for centuries before these temples were built, it seems unlikely. 2. A 'first completion' is hardly a completion, and is certainly not a completion of what one sees today. 3. Yes, but a deity and an idol are not the same thing. AFAIK Buddhists don't regard Buddha images as idols or deities anyway. 4. It was constructed as a Hindu temple, but has spent most of its existence as a Buddhist temple. (Mount Meru, incidentally, also occupies a rather significant place in Buddhist mythology). Trying to categorise it as Hindu or Buddhist is a gross oversimplification. 5. It is. dude - leave my discussion page alone... it is getting longer and logner... and further,,, why don't you tell freedom skies to quit blanking his page... but i will leave my page alone as i did not know of this supposed blanking policy Kennethtennyson 02:37, 1 September 2006 (UTC)

have you any idea what you are undoing?? unless you are an administrator - you don't seem to understand that the indian nationlism page is compiling a book based around the dispute that the whole section around history and beliefs is false... so quit undoing my disputed tags...Kennethtennyson 02:41, 1 September 2006 (UTC)

Further... you have been blocked multiple times before and you will be further if you continue to mess with my discussion page. Kennethtennyson 02:42, 1 September 2006 (UTC)

please leave the dispute tag at the head of the article... that is the convention for most tags.. leaving it in the middle of the article merely hides the existence of the tag... so leave it alone please... and yes, if i can tell from your archives you've been warned multiple times by administrators....Kennethtennyson 02:51, 1 September 2006 (UTC)

Swami Ramdev

Hello and Thanks for your assistance.

Regarding this article - I posted my reasons for justification as to why there is no copyright violation. I also wrote this to Sfacets on his page. I have still not received any reply showing me why this reasoning is invalid. I think you have a situation here where Sfacets has unilaterally decided that there is a copyright violation.

Consequently, I believe a rewrite is not justified for two reasons:

  • In the legal sense, if indeed there is a copyright violation (one which as I state before has not been proven)

just rewording an article does not remedy the problem

  • An individual's "feeling" that there may be a copyright violation should not suffice as reason enough to

zap an article and cause a whole lot of work for somebody else

A civil and just procedure would suggest that:

  • Sfacets provide his objective justification negating the validating items that I mention or
  • If he strongly feels a rewrite is necessary - he should commit the effort to pen this rewrite himself

Else, this forum becomes much more a dictatorship than a democratic forum that it is meant to be.

Once again, thanks for your assistance and look forward to hearing your thoughts
