The R262 is a proposed New Technology Train-series subway car for the New York City Subway. It is expected to replace the current R62 and R62A rolling stock, which are used on the subway's A Division and were built in the mid-1980s. First announced in January 2019, the R262 fleet would consist of at least 1,500 subway cars, but would not be funded until at least the 2020-2024 Capital Program. In addition to replacing the 1,139 R62s and R62As, the new cars will allow for fleet expansion.

The cars will be based on the plans for the R211T fleet, which are being built for the B Division. Like the R211Ts, the R262s will include open-gangway trains and be equipped with communications-based train control (CBTC) and ethernet systems. These trains will allow for the acceleration of plans to install CBTC as part of the Fast Forward Plan.
