It surrounds the capital on 3 sides, and the Trakai district municipality touches it on one.
About 63.5% of the municipality population are Poles.

The so called Poles very often are forcibly polonized Lithuanians during Russian and Polish Genocide in this region. It is enough to know a little bit Lithuanian language to understand there surnames, when they by themselves do not realize it.
