You are indefinitely banned from interacting in any way with Ngunalik, as they are from interacting with you. Any violation of the interaction ban or gaming of this sanction to interfere with the editing of the other party will be met with blocks. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 18:25, 18 November 2023 (UTC)
- I have a question so i am not topic banned from these articles just an interaction ban? What happens if Ngunalik makes incorrect edits like this edit what do I do? Cookiemonster1618 (talk) 20:02, 18 November 2023 (UTC)

- WP:IBAN covers this.
Although the interaction-banned users are generally allowed to edit the same pages or discussions so long as they avoid each other, they are not allowed to interact with each other.
This includes reverting, in whole or in part, in any way, any of their edits. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 20:38, 18 November 2023 (UTC)

You are now subject to a community-imposed topic ban.
Per consensus at this discussion at ANI, you are now topic banned from all pages and discussions related to eastern and northeastern African peoples and languages, broadly construed, for three months. A violation will result in a block for the remainder of the topic ban duration or one month, whichever is longer. This includes any edit anywhere on Misplaced Pages that relates to the topic. If you have any questions about the topic ban you can reach out to me at my talk page. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 21:52, 23 November 2023 (UTC)
- Let me remind you that Arbore is very much an eastern/northeastern African language. LandLing 13:09, 27 November 2023 (UTC)
- Oh i forgot i was subject to a topic ban of all north eastern african languages. Sorry won't happen again. Cookiemonster1618 (talk) 13:29, 27 November 2023 (UTC)

Bkissin (talk) 07:53, 12 December 2023 (UTC)Topic Ban
@Cookiemonster1618: A very large number of your recent edits seem pretty clearly to be in violation of your topic ban on 'northeastern African peoples and languages, broadly construed'. Some of these violations seem to me unquestionable:

What's going on here? Did you petition to have the ban lifted? Pathawi (talk) 19:05, 31 December 2023 (UTC)
- last time I checked these are places and the Chad is in Central Africa I have not edited anything on Nubian languages because there is nothing to edit on here. Instead of tracking what I edit you should at least see if it is in violation of my ban or not. Kanuri is a Language spoken in West Africa not in East or Northeast Africa. Last time I checked the ban only mentioned Northeast and Eastern African languages and Peoples not Western and Central African languages nor place names or towns. Cookiemonster1618 (talk) 19:58, 31 December 2023 (UTC)
- Sudan is in North Africa not in East Africa and there is nothing wrong with making edits for the Bederia and Shaigiya tribes because those are peoples that would be considered North African and not Northeast African or East African. Cookiemonster1618 (talk) 20:02, 31 December 2023 (UTC)
- There's nothing going on here I have not violated anything from my topic ban. I understand and know well the conditions and implementation and rules of the topic ban. The ban is implemented on me not you so idk why your coming here and trying to find a hard excise to blame on me for violating the terms of my topic ban when I have not. Edits on places and countries wasn't on the terms of the edit ban it was languages and peoples. Cookiemonster1618 (talk) 20:00, 31 December 2023 (UTC)
- The second list contains a lot of places, but the first is entirely peoples & languages—184 of the total 270. In a great many of these cases, 'language' or 'people' are part of the name of the article. Note that Misplaced Pages has an article on Northeast Africa, which very clearly includes Sudan & Egypt; Chad is iffy (not mentioned in the text, & marked light green in the map). In any case, I have mostly ignored the editing related to Chad, only noting cases where there's explicit spread into Sudan. & even if Sudan were excluded, you have edits that relate to Somalia, Ertirea, & Ethiopia in here. I don't know why you're raising the issue of Nubian, but Dongolawi is a Nubian language. I'm not tracking your edits—if I were, I would have said something weeks ago. I was surprised by one of your edits given the ban, looked at your history, & was surprised again to see how many of those edits seemed to be in violation. If I were trying to give you trouble, I would have pursued sanctions. I'm talking to you here so that you can explain what's going on. Pathawi (talk) 20:11, 31 December 2023 (UTC)
- Edits that relate to places and locations in Somalia and Eritrea were not part of the Topic ban. Once again i will quote you what the topic ban said. 'Per consensus at this discussion at ANI, you are now topic banned from all pages and discussions related to eastern and northeastern African peoples and languages, broadly construed, for three months.' Places like Nugal in Somalia and Gash Barka region are not ethnic groups or people's and were not part of the violation of the ban. Cookiemonster1618 (talk) 20:31, 31 December 2023 (UTC)
- So I just realized wikipedia had a whole article page for the region called Northeast Africa. I have heard of it but i had no idea it was included in Misplaced Pages. I am going to be honest here and say that i did not know there was a wikipedia article for Northeast Africa. Cookiemonster1618 (talk) 20:39, 31 December 2023 (UTC)
- But a Cookiemonster1618 (talk) 20:41, 31 December 2023 (UTC)
- But also respectfully I am going to disagree with you here as there is no such thing as a region called Northeast Africa. There's the Horn of Africa but Sudan is not located in the Horn of Africa. Sudan is considered to be a North African country and not an Eastern African country nor is it a country located in the Horn of Africa. Here is the source for my claim. If you want more I can send it.

The Bederia ans Shaigiya are North African peoples as Sudan is considered by the UN definition to be North African country and not an East African country. Chadian Arabic is also not spoken in Eastern or Northeastern Africa so I dont understand how that would have violated the terms of the ban? It is spoken in the countries around the Lake Chad region which is located in Central and Western Africa. Anyways I apologize if it seems that Pathawi misunderstood or you did but these edits did not violate the terms of the ban.Notes:

- Right. No such thing as Northeast Africa. Hence, all the references to a non-existent place in Northeast Africa. Pleading ignorance is a reasonable approach, but alternative truths aren't well received here. --jpgordon 20:45, 31 December 2023 (UTC)
- OK I apologize for my ignorance but I had no idea that Misplaced Pages had an article for a page called Northeast Africa I had heard of the region but I just assumed the name was another name for the Born of Africa countries. Anyways I take full responsibility but many of my edits did not violate the condition and terms of my topic ban and its not right and fair for me to plead to something that was not part of the topic ban. I added the additional roughly 90 edits on locations specifying that they were probably inadvisable given the wording about 'broad construal'. These two groups are marked separately. - Tama, Sungor, Kanuri are not spoken in Northeast Africa nor East Africa you added that as part of the violation when it wasn't. The ban only made it a violation to edit on pages for Northeast African and Eastern African peoples. Sudan is located in North Africa and is considered to be a North African country. Broadly there are five main regions of Africa and they are North Africa, Central Africa, East Africa, West Africa, and Southern Africa. Dongolawi is spoken in Sudan which would be considered a North African country and hence a North African language and not a language that is spoken in East Africa or in the Horn of Africa region. Here is the source for this.

The ban only made it a violation to edit peoples and languages in East and Northeast Africa not places or towns or cities or other languages located in West Africa and Central Africa. Anyways I hope you will reconsider my apology and sencerities here as it is the new year and if I have violated the terms of my topic ban that I am truly sorry and I hope you will reconsider it. - Right. No such thing as Northeast Africa. Hence, all the references to a non-existent place in Northeast Africa. Pleading ignorance is a reasonable approach, but alternative truths aren't well received here. --jpgordon 20:45, 31 December 2023 (UTC)
- Sudan is in northeastern Africa, and you made many edits related to the languages and people there. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 20:19, 31 December 2023 (UTC)
