- Yong Teck Lee was originally elected to serve in this constituency. Yong disqualified as Gaya MP and Likas assemblymen since September 2002 due to found guilty of corruption according to the Election Offences Act 1954. Liew was elected to Parliament in the Gaya by-election, 2002.
