- 4 July 1924: Established as Diocese of Sorocaba from the Diocese of Botucatu, Metropolitan Archdiocese of São Paulo and Diocese of Taubaté
- 29 April 1992: Promoted as Metropolitan Archdiocese of Sorocaba
