The small town was used in part, for the Disney production “Ride a Wild Pony”. It was a mild success and featured some local Bareen ponies in the film. Some of the “tricks” of the stunt ponies used, where the pony seemingly laughs whilst supposedly deciding its rightful owner, was owned and hired from Brett Wilkinson, who’d informed the producers of his horse, “Trigger”s capabilities. Spotted grazing in the yard of their local home, the producers deemed it, a perfect “double” to the ponies being used.
The film started production in 1974 and released Christmas Day 75.
Troy Wilkinson was also another legend to come from the small town produced, winning major bull riding tournaments around the country and abroad.
