The Renault Fluence is a 2+2 concept Coupé designed by Renault chief designer Patrick le Quément, with a lenght similar to that of the Renault Laguna. It was presented in June 4th 2004 at the Louis Vuitton Car Elegance Classic in England and in the Mondial de l'Automobile 2004.
It uses LED headlights that are directed in function with the steering wheel angle, manufacturated by Valeo. An ingenious aspect of the exterior design its the V-shaped back that gives access to the trunk by a curious unconventional way, when the back just slides up to the roof thanks to an articulated piston in the center of it. The boot is upholsted with "Margaux red" and it has a volume of 396dm3.
In the interior, every seat is fixed to a single rail and the board is similar to the one of the Renault Talisman. The armrests on the doors, that are also fixed to a rail, are enclosed to the adjustment of the seats. The board has a joystick so the driver can access to the different functions of the vehicle and read them in the retractable screen.
Several brands like Michelin or Recaro did partake in the development of this concept car. For example, Michelin gave tires with PAX technology (similar to Runflat), Montupet manufacturated the 22" aerodinamic alloy wheels and Recaro with the incredible seats.
This concept car has been considered as an interpretation of the next Laguna
